KJV ¹ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

S21 ¹ Nous savons, en effet, que si notre habitation terrestre, qui n'est qu'une tente, est détruite, nous avons dans le ciel un édifice qui est l'œuvre de Dieu, une habitation éternelle qui n'est pas faite par la main de l'homme.

KJV ² For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

S21 ² Et nous gémissons dans cette tente, avec l'ardent désir de revêtir notre domicile céleste,

KJV ³ If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

S21 ³ puisque, après avoir été ainsi revêtus, nous ne serons pas trouvés nus.

KJV ⁴ For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

S21 ⁴ En effet, nous qui sommes dans cette tente, nous gémissons, accablés, parce que nous voulons non pas nous dévêtir, mais au contraire nous revêtir, afin que ce qui est mortel soit englouti par la vie.

KJV ⁵ Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

S21 ⁵ Et celui qui nous a préparés pour cela, c'est Dieu, qui nous a donné le gage de l'Esprit.

KJV ⁶ Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

S21 ⁶ Nous sommes donc toujours pleins de confiance et nous savons que, tant que nous habitons dans ce corps, nous sommes loin de notre patrie, loin du Seigneur,

KJV ⁷ (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

S21 ⁷ car nous marchons par la foi et non par la vue.

KJV ⁸ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

S21 ⁸ Oui, nous sommes pleins de confiance et nous aimerions mieux quitter ce corps pour aller vivre auprès du Seigneur.

KJV ⁹ Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

S21 ⁹ C'est aussi pour cela que nous nous efforçons de lui être agréables, soit que nous vivions dans ce corps, soit que nous le quittions.

KJV ¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

S21 ¹⁰ En effet, il nous faudra tous comparaître devant le tribunal de Christ afin que chacun reçoive le salaire de ce qu'il aura fait, bien ou mal, alors qu'il était dans son corps.

KJV ¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

S21 ¹¹ Ainsi donc, puisque nous savons ce qu'est la crainte du Seigneur, nous cherchons à convaincre les hommes. Quant à Dieu, il nous connaît, et j'espère que dans votre conscience vous nous connaissez aussi.
