DRB ²³ J'ai éprouvé tout cela par la sagesse ; j'ai dit : Je serai sage ; mais elle était loin de moi.

KJV ²³ All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.

WLC ²³ כָּל־ זֹ֖ה נִסִּ֣יתִי בַֽחָכְמָ֑ה אָמַ֣רְתִּי אֶחְכָּ֔מָה וְהִ֖יא רְחוֹקָ֥ה מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

DRB ²⁴ Ce qui a été est loin et très profond, qui le trouvera ?

KJV ²⁴ That which is far off, and exceeding deep, who can find it out?

WLC ²⁴ רָח֖וֹק מַה־ שֶּׁהָיָ֑ה וְעָמֹ֥ק ׀ עָמֹ֖ק מִ֥י יִמְצָאֶֽנּוּ׃

DRB ²⁵ Je me suis mis, moi et mon cœur, à connaître et à explorer et à rechercher la sagesse et l'intelligence, et à connaître que la méchanceté est sottise, et la folie, déraison* ;

KJV ²⁵ I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness:

WLC ²⁵ סַבּ֨וֹתִֽי אֲנִ֤י וְלִבִּי֙ לָדַ֣עַת וְלָת֔וּר וּבַקֵּ֥שׁ חָכְמָ֖ה וְחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן וְלָדַ֙עַת֙ רֶ֣שַׁע כֶּ֔סֶל וְהַסִּכְל֖וּת הוֹלֵלֽוֹת׃

DRB ²⁶ et j'ai trouvé plus amère que la mort la femme dont le cœur est [comme] des filets et des rets, [et] dont les mains sont des chaînes : celui qui est agréable à Dieu lui échappera, mais celui qui pèche sera pris par elle.

KJV ²⁶ And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.

WLC ²⁶ וּמוֹצֶ֨א אֲנִ֜י מַ֣ר מִמָּ֗וֶת אֶת־ הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ אֲשֶׁר־ הִ֨יא מְצוֹדִ֧ים וַחֲרָמִ֛ים לִבָּ֖הּ אֲסוּרִ֣ים יָדֶ֑יהָ ט֞וֹב לִפְנֵ֤י הָאֱלֹהִים֙ יִמָּלֵ֣ט מִמֶּ֔נָּה וְחוֹטֵ֖א יִלָּ֥כֶד בָּֽהּ׃

DRB ²⁷ Regarde ceci que j'ai trouvé, dit le prédicateur, [en examinant les choses] une à une pour en trouver la raison,

KJV ²⁷ Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account:

WLC ²⁷ רְאֵה֙ זֶ֣ה מָצָ֔אתִי אָמְרָ֖ה קֹהֶ֑לֶת אַחַ֥ת לְאַחַ֖ת לִמְצֹ֥א חֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃

DRB ²⁸ ce que mon âme cherche encore et que je n'ai pas trouvé : j'ai trouvé un homme entre mille, mais une femme entre elles toutes, je ne l'ai pas trouvée.

KJV ²⁸ Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

WLC ²⁸ אֲשֶׁ֛ר עוֹד־ בִּקְשָׁ֥ה נַפְשִׁ֖י וְלֹ֣א מָצָ֑אתִי אָדָ֞ם אֶחָ֤ד מֵאֶ֙לֶף֙ מָצָ֔אתִי וְאִשָּׁ֥ה בְכָל־ אֵ֖לֶּה לֹ֥א מָצָֽאתִי׃

DRB ²⁹ Seulement, voici, j'ai trouvé que Dieu a fait l'homme droit ; mais eux, ils ont cherché beaucoup de raisonnements.

KJV ²⁹ Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

WLC ²⁹ לְבַד֙ רְאֵה־ זֶ֣ה מָצָ֔אתִי אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֧ה הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶת־ הָאָדָ֖ם יָשָׁ֑ר וְהֵ֥מָּה בִקְשׁ֖וּ חִשְּׁבֹנ֥וֹת רַבִּֽים׃
