BCC ³ Au bout de quelque temps, Caïn offrit des produits de la terre en oblation à Yahweh ;

KJV ³ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

WLC ³ וַֽיְהִ֖י מִקֵּ֣ץ יָמִ֑ים וַיָּבֵ֨א קַ֜יִן מִפְּרִ֧י הָֽאֲדָמָ֛ה מִנְחָ֖ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃

BCC ⁴ Abel, de son côté, offrit des premiers-nés de son troupeau et de leur graisse.

KJV ⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

MAR ⁴ Et qu'Abel aussi offrit des premiers-nés de son troupeau, et de leur graisse ; et l'Eternel eut égard à Abel, et à son oblation.

WLC ⁴ וְהֶ֨בֶל הֵבִ֥יא גַם־ ה֛וּא מִבְּכֹר֥וֹת צֹאנ֖וֹ וּמֵֽחֶלְבֵהֶ֑ן וַיִּ֣שַׁע יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הֶ֖בֶל וְאֶל־ מִנְחָתֽוֹ׃

BCC ⁵ Yahweh regarda Abel et son offrande ; mais il ne regarda pas Caïn et son offrande.

KJV ⁵ But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

MAR ⁵ Mais il n'eut point d'égard à Caïn, ni à son oblation ; et Caïn fut fort irrité, et son visage fut abattu.

WLC ⁵ וְאֶל־ קַ֥יִן וְאֶל־ מִנְחָת֖וֹ לֹ֣א שָׁעָ֑ה וַיִּ֤חַר לְקַ֙יִן֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ פָּנָֽיו׃

BCC ⁶ Caïn en fut très irrité et son visage fut abattu.

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

MAR ⁶ Et l'Eternel dit à Caïn : Pourquoi es-tu irrité ? et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu ?

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־ קָ֑יִן לָ֚מָּה חָ֣רָה לָ֔ךְ וְלָ֖מָּה נָפְל֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃

BCC ⁷ Yahweh dit à Caïn : « Pourquoi es-tu irrité, et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu ? Si tu fais bien, ne seras-tu pas agréé ? Et si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché ne se couche-t-il pas à ta porte ? Son désir se tourne vers toi ; mais toi, tu dois dominer sur lui. »

KJV ⁷ If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

MAR ⁷ Si tu fais bien, ne sera-t-il pas reçu ? mais si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché est à la porte ; or ses désirs se [rapportent] à toi, et tu as Seigneurie sur lui.

WLC ⁷ הֲל֤וֹא אִם־ תֵּיטִיב֙ שְׂאֵ֔ת וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תֵיטִ֔יב לַפֶּ֖תַח חַטָּ֣את רֹבֵ֑ץ וְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ תְּשׁ֣וּקָת֔וֹ וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּמְשָׁל־ בּֽוֹ׃

BCC ⁸ Caïn dit à Abel, son frère : « Allons aux champs. » Et, comme ils étaient dans les champs, Caïn s'éleva contre Abel, son frère, et le tua.

KJV ⁸ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

MAR ⁸ Or Caïn parla avec Abel son frère, et comme ils étaient aux champs, Caïn s'éleva contre Abel son frère, et le tua.

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר קַ֖יִן אֶל־ הֶ֣בֶל אָחִ֑יו וַֽיְהִי֙ בִּהְיוֹתָ֣ם בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה וַיָּ֥קָם קַ֛יִן אֶל־ הֶ֥בֶל אָחִ֖יו וַיַּהַרְגֵֽהוּ׃
