²⁴ Quiconque donc entend ces paroles que je dis, et les met en pratique, sera semblable à un homme sensé, qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc : ²⁵ la pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents on soufflé et se sont déchaînés contre cette maison, et elle n'a pas été renversée, car elle avait été fondée sur la pierre. ²⁶ Et quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis, et ne les met pas en pratique, sera semblable à un insensé, qui a bâti sa maison sur le sable : ²⁷ la pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et ont battu cette maison, et elle est tombée, et grande a été sa chute." ²⁸ Or, quand jésus eut achevé ce discours, les foules étaient dans l'admiration pour son enseignement : ²⁹ car il les enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non comme leurs scribes.

Matthieu 8

¹ Descendu de la montagne, des foules nombreuses le suivirent. ² Et voici qu'un lépreux s'approcha, se prosterna devant lui et dit : "Seigneur, si vous voulez, vous pouvez me guérir." ³ Il étendit la main, le toucha et dit : "Je le veux, sois guéri. "Et à l'instant sa lèpre fut guérie. ⁴ Alors Jésus lui dit : "garde-toi d'en parler à personne ; mais va te montrer au prêtre, et offre le don prescrit par Moïse, en attestation pour eux." ⁵ Comme Jésus était entré à Capharnaüm, un centurion l'aborda et lui fit ⁶ cette prière : "Seigneur, mon serviteur est couché dans ma maison, paralysé, et il souffre cruellement." ⁷ Il lui dit : "Je vais aller le guérir. " ⁸ Le centurion reprit : "Seigneur, je ne suis pas digne que vous entriez sous mon toit ; mais dites seulement un mot, et mon serviteur sera guéri. ⁹ Car moi qui suis sous des chefs, j'ai des soldats sous mes ordres, et je dis à l'un : " Va, " et il va ; et à un autre : "viens," et il vient ; et à mon serviteur : "fais ceci," et il le fait." ¹⁰ Ce qu'entendant, Jésus fut dans l'admiration, et il dit à ceux qui le suivaient : " Je vous le dis en vérité : dans Israël, chez personne je n'ai trouvé une si grande foi. ¹¹ Or je vous le dis : beaucoup viendront de l'Orient et de l'Occident, et prendront place au festin avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, dans le royaume des cieux, ¹² tandis que les fils du royaume seront jetés dans les ténèbres extérieures : là seront les pleurs et le grincement de dents." ¹³ Et Jésus dit au centurion : "va, et qu'il te soit fait selon ta foi ! "Et à l'heure même le serviteur se trouva guéri. ¹⁴ Et Jésus, étant allé dans la maison de Pierre, vit sa belle-mère qui était au lit, tenue par la fièvre. ¹⁵ Il lui toucha la main, et la fièvre la quitta ; elle se leva et se mit à le servir. ¹⁶ Le soir venu, on lui amena quantité de démoniaques, et il chassa d'un mot les esprits et il guérit tous les malades, ¹⁷ afin que fût accompli ce qui a été dit par le prophète Isaïe : Il a pris nos infirmités et s'est chargé de nos maladies.

²⁴ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. ²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: ²⁹ For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

   ⁵ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, ⁶ And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. ⁷ And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. ⁸ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. ⁹ For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. ¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. ¹¹ And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ¹³ And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
   ¹⁴ And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. ¹⁵ And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. ¹⁶ When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: ¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

   ¹² filii autem regni ejicientur in tenebras exteriores : ibi erit fletus et stridor dentium.
   ¹³ Et dixit Jesus centurioni : Vade, et sicut credidisti, fiat tibi. Et sanatus est puer in illa hora.

   ¹⁵ et tetigit manum ejus, et dimisit eam febris, et surrexit, et ministrabat eis.
   ¹⁶ Vespere autem facto, obtulerunt ei multos dæmonia habentes : et ejiciebat spiritus verbo, et omnes male habentes curavit :
   ¹⁷ ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam, dicentem : [Ipse infirmitates nostras accepit :
et ægrotationes nostras portavit.]
