Ac 6:1-7 (King James)

¹ And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
² Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
³ Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
⁴ But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
⁶ Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

¹ A cette époque-là, alors que le nombre des disciples augmentait, les Hellénistes murmurèrent contre les Hébreux parce que leurs veuves étaient négligées lors des distributions quotidiennes.
² Les douze convoquèrent l'ensemble des disciples et dirent: «Il ne convient pas que nous délaissions la parole de Dieu pour servir aux tables.
³ C'est pourquoi, frères et sœurs, choisissez parmi vous sept hommes de qui l'on rende un bon témoignage, remplis d'Esprit [saint] et de sagesse, et nous les chargerons de ce travail.
⁴ Quant à nous, nous continuerons à nous consacrer à la prière et au ministère de la parole.»
⁵ Cette proposition plut à toute l'assemblée. Ils choisirent Etienne, un homme plein de foi et d'Esprit saint, Philippe, Prochore, Nicanor, Timon, Parménas et Nicolas, un non-Juif d'Antioche converti.
⁶ Ils les présentèrent aux apôtres et ils posèrent les mains sur eux en priant.
⁷ La parole de Dieu se propageait de plus en plus, le nombre des disciples augmentait beaucoup à Jérusalem et une grande foule de prêtres obéissaient à la foi.

¹ In diebus illis, crescente numero discipulorum, factum est murmur Græcorum adversus Hebræos, eo quod despicerentur in ministerio quotidiano viduæ eorum.
² Convocantes autem duodecim multitudinem discipulorum, dixerunt : Non est æquum nos derelinquere verbum Dei, et ministrare mensis.
³ Considerate ergo, fratres, viros ex vobis boni testimonii septem, plenos Spiritu Sancto et sapientia, quos constituamus super hoc opus.
⁴ Nos vero orationi et ministerio verbi instantes erimus.
⁵ Et placuit sermo coram omni multitudine. Et elegerunt Stephanum, virum plenum fide et Spiritu Sancto, et Philippum, et Prochorum, et Nicanorem, et Timonem, et Parmenam, et Nicolaum advenam Antiochenum.
⁶ Hos statuerunt ante conspectum Apostolorum : et orantes imposuerunt eis manus.
