   ¹⁸ So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth. ¹⁹ And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. ²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. ²¹ And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. ²² Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah. ²³ And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

   ¹⁸ C'est ainsi que David prit la fuite et qu'il échappa. Il se rendit auprès de Samuel à Rama, et lui raconta tout ce que Saül lui avait fait. Puis il alla avec Samuel demeurer à Najoth. ¹⁹ On le rapporta à Saül, en disant: Voici, David est à Najoth, près de Rama. ²⁰ Saül envoya des gens pour prendre David. Ils virent une assemblée de prophètes qui prophétisaient, ayant Samuel à leur tête. L'esprit de Dieu saisit les envoyés de Saül, et ils se mirent aussi à prophétiser eux-mêmes. ²¹ On en fit rapport à Saül, qui envoya d'autres gens, et eux aussi prophétisèrent. Il en envoya encore pour la troisième fois, et ils prophétisèrent également. ²² Alors Saül alla lui-même à Rama. Arrivé à la grande citerne qui est à Sécou, il demanda: Où sont Samuel et David ? On lui répondit: Ils sont à Najoth, près de Rama. ²³ Et il se dirigea vers Najoth, près de Rama. L'esprit de Dieu fut aussi sur lui ; et Saül continua son chemin en prophétisant, jusqu'à son arrivée à Najoth, près de Rama. ²⁴ Il ôta ses vêtements, et il prophétisa aussi devant Samuel ; et il se jeta nu par terre tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit. C'est pourquoi l'on dit: Saül est-il aussi parmi les prophètes ?

Puis il s'en alla avec Samuel, et ils demeurèrent à Najoth. ¹⁹ Et on le rapporta à Saül, en lui disant : Voilà, David est à Najoth en Rama. ²⁰ Alors Saül envoya des gens pour prendre David, lesquels virent une assemblée de Prophètes qui prophétisaient, et Samuel, qui présidait sur eux, se tenait là ; et l'esprit de Dieu vint sur les hommes envoyés par Saül, et eux aussi firent les prophètes. ²¹ Et quand on l'eut rapporté à Saül, il envoya d'autres gens, qui firent aussi les prophètes. Et Saül continua d'envoyer des gens pour la troisième fois, et ils firent aussi les prophètes. ²² Puis lui-même aussi alla à Rama, et vint jusqu'à la grande fosse qui est à Secu, et s'informa disant : Où sont Samuel et David ? et on lui répondit : Les voilà à Najoth en Rama. ²³ Et il s'en alla à Najoth en Rama ; et l'esprit de Dieu fut aussi sur lui, et continuant son chemin il fit le prophète, jusqu'à ce qu'il fût venu à Najoth en Rama. ²⁴ Il se dépouilla aussi de ses vêtements, et fit le prophète lui-même en la présence de Samuel ; et se jeta par terre nu, tout ce jour-là, et toute la nuit. C'est pourquoi on dit : Saül aussi [est-]il entre les Prophètes ?
