⁷ Tout ce qui était resté des Héthiens, des Amorrhéens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens, ne faisant pas partie d'Israël, ⁸ leurs descendants qui étaient restés après eux dans le pays et que les fils d'Israël n'avaient pas entièrement détruits, Salomon les leva comme gens de corvée, ce qu'ils ont été jusqu'à ce jour. ⁹ Mais des fils d'Israël, Salomon ne fit point de serfs pour ses travaux ; car ceux-ci furent gens de guerre, et commandants de ses combattants sur chariots, et commandants de ses chars et de sa cavalerie.

⁷ As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which were not of Israel, ⁸ But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day. ⁹ But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.
