¹⁷ Alors Daniel prit la parole et dit en présence du roi : Que tes dons te demeurent, et donne à un autre tes présents ! Toutefois je lirai au roi ce qui est écrit et je lui en ferai connaître le sens. ¹⁸ O roi, le Dieu très-haut avait donné à Nébucadnetsar, ton père, la royauté et la grandeur, la gloire et la majesté. ¹⁹ Et à cause de la grandeur qu'il lui avait donnée, tous les peuples, nations et langues étaient dans la crainte et tremblaient devant lui, il faisait mourir qui il voulait et donnait la vie à qui il voulait ; il élevait qui il voulait et abaissait qui il voulait. ²⁰ Mais son coeur s'étant élevé et son esprit s'étant enflé à l'excès, il fut déposé de son trône royal et sa majesté lui fut ôtée. ²¹ Il fut chassé du milieu des enfants des hommes, son coeur devint semblable à celui des bêtes et sa demeure fut avec les ânes sauvages ; il fut nourri d'herbes comme les boeufs et son corps fut trempé de la rosée du ciel jusqu'à ce qu'il reconnût que le Dieu très-haut domine sur la royauté humaine et qu'il y élève qui il veut ²² Et toi, son fils, Belsatsar, tu n'as pas humilié ton coeur, bien que tu saches toutes ces choses. ²³ Mais tu t'es élevé contre le Seigneur des cieux ; on a apporté devant toi les vases de sa maison, et toi, et tes grands seigneurs, tes épouses et tes concubines vous y avez bu du vin ; et tu as loué les dieux d'argent et d'or, d'airain, de fer, de bois et de pierre, qui ne voient, n'entendent et ne connaissent point, et le Dieu qui a dans sa main ton souffle et toutes tes voies, tu ne l'as point glorifié. ²⁴ Alors de sa part est venue cette main et a été tracé ce qui est écrit là.
   ²⁵ Et voici ce qui a été écrit là :
Mené, mené, Tekèl, oupharsin. ²⁶ Voici le sens de ces mots : Mené [compté] : Dieu a compté ton règne et y a mis fin. ²⁷ Tekèl [pesé] : Tu as été pesé dans la balance et trouvé léger. ²⁸ Perès [brisé] : Ta royauté a été brisée et donnée au Mède et au Perse. ²⁹ Alors sur l'ordre de Belsatsar on revêtit Daniel de pourpre, on lui mit au cou une chaîne d'or et on publia qu'il commanderait au troisième rang dans le royaume.
   ³⁰ Dans la même nuit, Belsatsar, roi des Chaldéens, fut tué. ³¹ Et Darius le Mède reçut la royauté étant âgé de soixante-deux ans environ.

Daniel 6

   ¹ Il plut à Darius d'établir sur le royaume des satrapes au nombre de cent vingt, pour être sur tout le royaume ; ² et au-dessus d'eux trois ministres, dont Daniel était l'un, auxquels ces satrapes devaient rendre compte pour qu'il ne fût pas fait tort au roi. ³ Or, ce Daniel surpassait les ministres et les satrapes, parce qu'il y avait en lui un esprit extraordinaire ; et le roi pensait à l'établir sur tout le royaume. ⁴ Alors les ministres et les satrapes cherchèrent à trouver un sujet d'accuser Daniel sur les affaires du royaume, mais ils n'en purent trouver, ni rien à reprendre, car il était fidèle et il ne se trouvait en lui rien de fautif et de répréhensible. ⁵ Ces hommes dirent donc : Nous ne trouverons rien contre ce Daniel, à moins que de trouver quelque chose contre lui dans la loi de son Dieu.
   ⁶ Alors ces ministres et ces satrapes vinrent à grand bruit chez le roi et lui parlèrent ainsi : Roi Darius, vis à jamais ! ⁷ Il y a eu un conseil de tous les ministres du royaume : les chefs et les satrapes, les conseillers et les gouverneurs, pour que le roi rende un édit et promulgue une défense portant que quiconque adressera une requête à quelque dieu ou homme, pendant trente jours, si ce n'est à toi, ô roi, sera jeté dans la fosse aux lions. ⁸ Maintenant, ô roi, rends une défense et fais-la enregistrer, afin qu'il n'y puisse être dérogé, selon la loi du Mède et du Perse, qui est irrévocable. ⁹ En conséquence le roi Darius fit enregistrer le décret, la défense. ¹⁰ Et Daniel, quand il eut appris que le décret était enregistré, entra dans sa maison ; et elle avait dans la chambre haute des fenêtres ouvertes du côté de Jérusalem ; il se mettait à genoux trois fois par jour et priait et célébrait son Dieu comme il le faisait auparavant.
   ¹¹ Alors ces hommes accoururent à grand bruit et trouvèrent Daniel priant et faisant des supplications à son Dieu. ¹² Puis ils s'approchèrent du roi et lui parlèrent au sujet de la défense royale, disant : N'as-tu pas fait enregistrer une défense portant que quiconque pendant trente jours adressera une requête à quelque dieu ou homme, si ce n'est à toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions ? Le roi répondit et dit : Certainement, et cela selon la loi du Mède et du Perse qui est irrévocable. ¹³ Alors ils reprirent et dirent au roi : Daniel, qui est l'un des captifs de Juda, n'a point eu égard à toi, ô roi, ni à la défense que tu as fait enregistrer, mais trois fois le jour il fait sa prière. ¹⁴ Le roi, ayant entendu la chose, en eut un grand déplaisir, et il prit à coeur de délivrer Daniel ; et jusqu'au coucher du soleil, il s'efforça de le sauver. ¹⁵ Mais ces hommes accoururent à grand bruit vers le roi et lui dirent : Sache, ô roi, que c'est la loi du Mède et du Perse qu'à toute défense et tout décret rendu par le roi, il ne peut être dérogé. ¹⁶ Alors le roi commanda qu'on amenât Daniel et qu'on le jetât dans la fosse aux lions. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel : Puisse ton Dieu que tu sers continuellement te délivrer lui-même ! ¹⁷ Et une pierre fut apportée et mise sur l'ouverture de la fosse. Le roi la scella de son anneau et de l'anneau de ses grands seigneurs, afin que rien ne fût changé à l'égard de Daniel.
   ¹⁸ Après cela le roi s'en alla dans son palais et passa la nuit à jeûn, et il ne fit point venir de femmes auprès de lui et le sommeil s'enfuit loin de lui. ¹⁹ Puis le roi se leva à l'aurore, au point du jour, et se rendit en hâte à la fosse aux lions. ²⁰ Et comme il approchait de la fosse, il appela Daniel d'une voix triste. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel : Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu que tu sers continuellement a-t-il pu te délivrer des lions ? ²¹ Alors Daniel parla avec le roi : O roi, vis éternellement ! ²² Mon Dieu a envoyé son ange et il a fermé la gueule des lions qui ne m'ont fait aucun mal, parce que j'ai été reconnu innocent devant lui ; et aussi devant toi, ô roi, je n'ai commis aucun mal. ²³ Alors le roi fut très réjoui et il ordonna de retirer Daniel de la fosse ; Daniel fut donc retiré de la fosse, et on ne trouva sur lui aucune blessure, parce qu'il avait cru en son Dieu. ²⁴ Et sur l'ordre du roi, on amena ces hommes qui, avaient dit du mal de Daniel, et on les jeta dans la fosse aux lions, eux, leurs enfants et leurs femmes ; mais ils n'avaient pas atteint le fond de la fosse, que les lions les saisirent et leur brisèrent tous les os.
   ²⁵ Alors le roi Darius écrivit : A tous les peuples, nations et langues qui habitent sur toute la terre, que votre paix soit grande ! ²⁶ De par moi il est ordonné que dans toute l'étendue de mon royaume, l'on craigne et l'on tremble devant le Dieu de Daniel, car il est le Dieu vivant et qui subsiste à jamais, et son royaume ne sera point détruit et sa domination n'aura pas de fin. ²⁷ Il délivre et il sauve, il fait des signes et des prodiges dans les cieux et sur la terre ; c'est lui qui a délivré Daniel de la griffe des lions. ²⁸ Et ce Daniel prospéra sous le règne de Darius et sous le règne de Cyrus le Perse.

Daniel 7

   ¹ La première année du règne de Belsatsar, roi de Babylone, Daniel étant sur sa couche, eut un songe et des visions en son esprit. ² Puis il écrivit le songe en donnant la substance des faits. Daniel prit la parole et dit : Je voyais pendant la nuit dans ma vision, et voici les quatre vents des cieux qui fondaient sur la grande mer. ³ Et quatre grandes bêtes montèrent de la mer, différentes l'une de l'autre. ⁴ La première était comme un lion et avait des ailes d'aigle. Je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où les ailes lui furent arrachées et où elle fut levée de terre et dressée sur ses pieds comme un homme, et où un coeur d'homme lui fut donné. ⁵ Et voici une autre bête, une seconde, ressemblant à un ours ; elle dressait l'un de ses côtés, et trois côtes étaient dans sa gueule entre ses dents, et on lui disait : Lève-toi, mange force chair ! ⁶ Après celle-là, je contemplais, et en voici une autre comme un léopard ; elle avait sur son dos quatre ailes d'oiseau ; et cette bête avait quatre têtes, et la domination lui fut donnée. ⁷ Après cela, je contemplais dans les visions de la nuit, et voici une quatrième bête, effrayante, terrible et extraordinairement forte ; elle avait des dents de fer très grandes ; elle dévorait et brisait, et le reste elle le foulait de ses pieds ; et elle était différente de toutes les bêtes qui l'avaient précédée, et elle avait dix cornes. ⁸ Je considérais les cornes, et voici une autre corne, petite, s'éleva au milieu d'elles, et trois des premières cornes furent arrachées par elle ; et voici, il y avait à cette corne des yeux comme des yeux d'homme, et une bouche qui se vantait de grandes choses.
   ⁹ Je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où des trônes furent placés, et où un vieillard s'assit. Son vêtement était comme la neige blanche, et ses cheveux comme de la laine pure. Son trône était des flammes de feu ; les roues, un feu ardent. ¹⁰ Un fleuve de feu sortait et coulait de devant lui ; mille milliers le servaient, et une myriade de myriades se tenait debout devant lui. Il s'assit pour juger et des livres furent ouverts. ¹¹ Je contemplais alors à cause du bruit des grandes paroles que proférait la corne ; je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où la bête fut tuée et son corps détruit et livré au feu. ¹² Quant au reste des bêtes, on leur avait ôté leur domination, et la durée de leur vie avait été fixée jusqu'à un temps et un moment. ¹³ Je contemplais dans les visions de la nuit, et voici venant sur les nuées comme un fils d'homme ; il vint jusqu'au vieillard et on l'amena devant lui. ¹⁴ Et il lui fut donné domination, gloire et règne ; et tous les peuples, nations et langues le servirent. Sa domination est une domination éternelle qui ne passera point, et son règne ne sera point détruit.

¹⁷ Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation. ¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: ¹⁹ And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: ²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. ²² And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; ²³ But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified: ²⁴ Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. ²⁵ And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. ²⁹ Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
   ³⁰ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. ³¹ And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

Daniel 6

   ¹ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; ² And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. ³ Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. ⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. ⁵ Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
   ⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. ⁸ Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. ⁹ Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. ¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
   ¹¹ Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. ¹² Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. ¹³ Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. ¹⁴ Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him. ¹⁵ Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed. ¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. ¹⁷ And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
   ¹⁸ Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. ¹⁹ Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. ²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? ²¹ Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. ²² My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. ²³ Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God. ²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
   ²⁵ Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. ²⁶ I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. ²⁷ He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. ²⁸ So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Daniel 7

   ¹ In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. ² Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. ³ And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. ⁴ The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. ⁵ And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. ⁶ After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. ⁷ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. ⁸ I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
   ⁹ I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. ¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. ¹¹ I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. ¹² As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. ¹³ I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

   ⁵ Dixerunt ergo viri illi : Non inveniemus Danieli huic aliquam occasionem, nisi forte in lege Dei sui.

   ⁷ consilium inierunt omnes principes regni tui, magistratus, et satrapæ, senatores, et judices, ut decretum imperatorium exeat, et edictum : ut omnis, qui petierit aliquam petitionem a quocumque deo et homine usque ad triginta dies, nisi a te, rex, mittatur in lacum leonum.
   ⁸ Nunc itaque rex, confirma sententiam, et scribe decretum : ut non immutetur quod statutum est a Medis et Persis, nec prævaricari cuiquam liceat.

   ¹⁵ Viri autem illi, intelligentes regem, dixerunt ei : Scito, rex, quia lex Medorum atque Persarum est ut omne decretum, quod constituerit rex, non liceat immutari.
   ¹⁶ Tunc rex præcepit, et adduxerunt Danielem, et miserunt eum in lacum leonum. Dixitque rex Danieli : Deus tuus, quem colis semper, ipse liberabit te.
   ¹⁷ Allatusque est lapis unus, et positus est super os laci : quem obsignavit rex annulo suo, et annulo optimatum suorum, ne quid fieret contra Danielem.
   ¹⁸ Et abiit rex in domum suam, et dormivit incœnatus, cibique non sunt allati coram eo, insuper et somnus recessit ab eo.
   ¹⁹ Tunc rex primo diluculo consurgens, festinus ad lacum leonum perrexit :
   ²⁰ appropinquansque lacui, Danielem voce lacrimabili inclamavit, et affatus est eum : Daniel serve Dei viventis, Deus tuus, cui tu servis semper, putasne valuit te liberare a leonibus ?
   ²¹ Et Daniel regi respondens ait : Rex, in æternum vive !
   ²² Deus meus misit angelum suum, et conclusit ora leonum, et non nocuerunt mihi : quia coram eo justitia inventa est in me : sed et coram te, rex, delictum non feci.
   ²³ Tunc vehementer rex gavisus est super eo, et Danielem præcepit educi de lacu : eductusque est Daniel de lacu, et nulla læsio inventa est in eo, quia credidit Deo suo.
   ²⁴ Jubente autem rege, adducti sunt viri illi, qui accusaverant Danielem : et in lacum leonum missi sunt, ipsi, et filii, et uxores eorum : et non pervenerunt usque ad pavimentum laci, donec arriperent eos leones, et omnia ossa eorum comminuerunt.
   ²⁵ Tunc Darius rex scripsit universis populis, tribubus, et linguis habitantibus in universa terra : Pax vobis multiplicetur.
   ²⁶ A me constitutum est decretum, ut in universo imperio et regno meo, tremiscant et paveant Deum Danielis : ipse est enim Deus vivens, et æternus in sæcula, et regnum ejus non dissipabitur, et potestas ejus usque in æternum.
   ²⁷ Ipse liberator atque salvator, faciens signa et mirabilia in cælo et in terra : qui liberavit Danielem de lacu leonum.
   ²⁸ Porro Daniel perseveravit usque ad regnum Darii, regnumque Cyri Persæ.

Daniel 7

   ¹ Anno primo Baltassar regis Babylonis, Daniel somnium vidit : visio autem capitis ejus in cubili suo : et somnium scribens, brevi sermone comprehendit : summatimque perstringens, ait :
   ² Videbam in visione mea nocte : et ecce quatuor venti cæli pugnabant in mari magno.
   ³ Et quatuor bestiæ grandes ascendebant de mari diversæ inter se.
   ⁴ Prima quasi leæna, et alas habebat aquilæ : aspiciebam donec evulsæ sunt alæ ejus, et sublata est de terra, et super pedes quasi homo stetit ; et cor hominis datum est ei.
   ⁵ Et ecce bestia alia similis urso in parte stetit : et tres ordines erant in ore ejus, et in dentibus ejus, et sic dicebant ei : Surge, comede carnes plurimas.
   ⁶ Post hæc aspiciebam, et ecce alia quasi pardus, et alas habebat quasi avis, quatuor super se : et quatuor capita erant in bestia, et potestas data est ei.
   ⁷ Post hæc aspiciebam in visione noctis, et ecce bestia quarta terribilis atque mirabilis, et fortis nimis : dentes ferreos habebat magnos, comedens atque comminuens, et reliqua pedibus suis conculcans : dissimilis autem erat ceteris bestiis quas videram ante eam, et habebat cornua decem.
   ⁸ Considerabam cornua, et ecce cornu aliud parvulum ortum est de medio eorum : et tria de cornibus primis evulsa sunt a facie ejus : et ecce oculi, quasi oculi hominis erant in cornu isto, et os loquens ingentia.
   ⁹ Aspiciebam donec throni positi sunt, et antiquus dierum sedit. Vestimentum ejus candidum quasi nix, et capilli capitis ejus quasi lana munda : thronus ejus flammæ ignis : rotæ ejus ignis accensus.
   ¹⁰ Fluvius igneus rapidusque egrediebatur a facie ejus. Millia millium ministrabant ei, et decies millies centena millia assistebant ei : judicium sedit, et libri aperti sunt.
   ¹¹ Aspiciebam propter vocem sermonum grandium, quos cornu illud loquebatur : et vidi quoniam interfecta esset bestia, et perisset corpus ejus, et traditum esset ad comburendum igni :
   ¹² aliarum quoque bestiarum ablata esset potestas, et tempora vitæ constituta essent eis usque ad tempus et tempus.
   ¹³ Aspiciebam ergo in visione noctis, et ecce cum nubibus cæli quasi filius hominis veniebat, et usque ad antiquum dierum pervenit : et in conspectu ejus obtulerunt eum.
   ¹⁴ Et dedit ei potestatem, et honorem, et regnum : et omnes populi, tribus, et linguæ ipsi servient : potestas ejus, potestas æterna, quæ non auferetur : et regnum ejus, quod non corrumpetur.
