   ¹ La première année du règne de Belsatsar, roi de Babylone, Daniel étant sur sa couche, eut un songe et des visions en son esprit. ² Puis il écrivit le songe en donnant la substance des faits. Daniel prit la parole et dit : Je voyais pendant la nuit dans ma vision, et voici les quatre vents des cieux qui fondaient sur la grande mer. ³ Et quatre grandes bêtes montèrent de la mer, différentes l'une de l'autre. ⁴ La première était comme un lion et avait des ailes d'aigle. Je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où les ailes lui furent arrachées et où elle fut levée de terre et dressée sur ses pieds comme un homme, et où un coeur d'homme lui fut donné. ⁵ Et voici une autre bête, une seconde, ressemblant à un ours ; elle dressait l'un de ses côtés, et trois côtes étaient dans sa gueule entre ses dents, et on lui disait : Lève-toi, mange force chair ! ⁶ Après celle-là, je contemplais, et en voici une autre comme un léopard ; elle avait sur son dos quatre ailes d'oiseau ; et cette bête avait quatre têtes, et la domination lui fut donnée. ⁷ Après cela, je contemplais dans les visions de la nuit, et voici une quatrième bête, effrayante, terrible et extraordinairement forte ; elle avait des dents de fer très grandes ; elle dévorait et brisait, et le reste elle le foulait de ses pieds ; et elle était différente de toutes les bêtes qui l'avaient précédée, et elle avait dix cornes. ⁸ Je considérais les cornes, et voici une autre corne, petite, s'éleva au milieu d'elles, et trois des premières cornes furent arrachées par elle ; et voici, il y avait à cette corne des yeux comme des yeux d'homme, et une bouche qui se vantait de grandes choses.
   ⁹ Je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où des trônes furent placés, et où un vieillard s'assit. Son vêtement était comme la neige blanche, et ses cheveux comme de la laine pure. Son trône était des flammes de feu ; les roues, un feu ardent. ¹⁰ Un fleuve de feu sortait et coulait de devant lui ; mille milliers le servaient, et une myriade de myriades se tenait debout devant lui. Il s'assit pour juger et des livres furent ouverts. ¹¹ Je contemplais alors à cause du bruit des grandes paroles que proférait la corne ; je contemplais, jusqu'au moment où la bête fut tuée et son corps détruit et livré au feu. ¹² Quant au reste des bêtes, on leur avait ôté leur domination, et la durée de leur vie avait été fixée jusqu'à un temps et un moment. ¹³ Je contemplais dans les visions de la nuit, et voici venant sur les nuées comme un fils d'homme ; il vint jusqu'au vieillard et on l'amena devant lui. ¹⁴ Et il lui fut donné domination, gloire et règne ; et tous les peuples, nations et langues le servirent. Sa domination est une domination éternelle qui ne passera point, et son règne ne sera point détruit.
   ¹⁵ Et pour moi, Daniel, je fus troublé en mon esprit au-dedans de moi et les visions de ma tête m'effrayèrent. ¹⁶ Je m'approchai de l'un de ceux qui se tenaient debout pour lui demander quelque chose de certain sur tout cela, et il me parla pour m'en donner l'explication. ¹⁷ Ces bêtes très grandes qui sont au nombre de quatre, ce sont quatre rois qui s'élèveront de la terre ; ¹⁸ mais les saints du Très-Haut recevront le royaume, et ils posséderont le royaume à toujours, en éternité d'éternités. ¹⁹ Alors je voulus avoir une certitude touchant la quatrième bête qui était différente de toutes les autres, extraordinairement terrible, dont les dents étaient de fer et les griffes d'airain, qui mangeait, brisait et foulait aux pieds ce qui restait ; ²⁰ et touchant les dix cornes qui étaient sur sa tête, et touchant l'autre corne qui était sortie et devant laquelle trois étaient tombées, cette corne qui avait des yeux et une bouche proférant de grandes choses, et qui paraissait plus grande que ses compagnes. ²¹ J'ai contemplé, et cette corne faisait la guerre aux saints et l'emportait sur eux, ²² jusqu'à ce que le vieillard vint et que le jugement fut donné aux saints du souverain et que le temps arriva où les saints possédèrent le royaume. ²³ Il me parla ainsi : la quatrième bête, c'est un quatrième royaume qui sera sur la terre, qui différera de tous les royaumes et qui dévorera toute la terre, la foulera et la réduira en poudre. ²⁴ Ses dix cornes signifient que de ce royaume se lèveront dix rois ; un autre se lèvera après eux, et celui-ci différera des précédents et abattra trois rois. ²⁵ Il proférera des paroles contre le Très-Haut, il opprimera les saints du Très-Haut et se proposera de changer temps et loi, et les saints seront livrés en sa main jusqu'à un temps, des temps, et une moitié de temps. ²⁶ Et le jugement se tiendra, et on lui ôtera sa domination pour le détruire et l'anéantir pour toujours. ²⁷ Et le règne et la domination et la grandeur des royaumes qui sont sous tous les cieux seront donnés au peuple des saints du souverain ; son règne est un règne éternel, et toutes les puissances le serviront et lui obéiront. ²⁸ Voilà la fin de ce qui me fut dit. Moi, Daniel, mes pensées m'effrayèrent beaucoup, je changeai de couleur, et la chose resta dans mon coeur.

Daniel 8

   ¹ La troisième année du règne du roi Belsatsar, j'eus une vision, moi, Daniel, après celle que j'avais eue au commencement du règne de Belsatsar. ² J'étais en vision, et il arriva, comme je regardai, que je me trouvais à Suse, la forteresse qui est dans la province d'Elam, et j'étais en vision au bord du fleuve Oulaï. ³ Je levai les yeux et j'aperçus un bélier qui se tenait devant le fleuve ; il avait deux cornes, ces cornes étaient hautes, et l'une était plus haute que l'autre, et la plus haute croissait la dernière. ⁴ Je vis le bélier heurtant de ses cornes vers l'occident, vers le septentrion et vers le midi ; et aucune bête ne tenait devant lui, et il n'y avait personne qui délivrât de sa puissance ; il faisait ce qu'il voulait et grandissait. ⁵ Et moi, je considérais, et voici, un jeune bouc venait du couchant sur la face de toute la terre, sans toucher la terre ; et ce bouc avait une corne très apparente entre les yeux. ⁶ Il arriva jusque vers le bélier aux deux cornes, que j'avais vu se tenant devant le fleuve, et il courut contre lui dans l'ardeur de sa force. ⁷ Et je le vis atteignant de flanc le bélier : et s'irritant contre lui, il frappa le bélier et brisa ses deux cornes, et le bélier n'était pas de force à tenir devant lui ; il le jeta par terre et le foula aux pieds, et il n'y avait personne pour délivrer le bélier de sa puissance. ⁸ Le jeune bouc grandit extrêmement, et quand il fut devenu fort, la grande corne s'étant brisée, je vis quatre cornes qui s'élevèrent à sa place vers les quatre vents des cieux. ⁹ Et de l'une d'elles sortit une corne, petite, qui grandit beaucoup vers le midi, et vers l'orient et vers le Joyau. ¹⁰ Elle grandit jusqu'à l'armée des cieux et elle fit tomber à terre une partie de l'armée et des étoiles et les foula aux pieds. ¹¹ Elle grandit jusqu'au chef de l'armée, lui enleva le culte perpétuel, et le lieu de son sanctuaire fut renversé. ¹² Oui, une armée sera livrée par infidélité, avec le culte perpétuel, et la corne jettera la vérité à terre, et elle le fera et réussira. ¹³ Et j'entendis un saint qui parlait ; et un autre saint dit à celui qui parlait : Jusqu'à quand [durera] cette vision du culte perpétuel et de l'infidélité de désolation, de l'abandon et du sanctuaire et de l'armée pour être foulés ? ¹⁴ Et il me dit : Jusqu'à deux mille trois cents soirs et matins ; puis le sanctuaire sera purifié.
   ¹⁵ Et il arriva, comme j'avais, moi, Daniel, cette vision, je cherchais à la comprendre ; et voici, je vis debout devant moi comme une figure d'homme. ¹⁶ Et j'entendis une voix d'homme du milieu de l'Oulaï, elle cria et dit : Gabriel, explique-lui la vision. ¹⁷ Et il vint près du lieu où je me tenais, et à sa venue je fus épouvanté et je tombai la face contre terre, et il me dit : Comprends, fils d'homme, que la vision est pour le temps de la fin. ¹⁸ Et comme i1 me parlait, je tombai par terre sur ma face, frappé d'assoupissement ; mais il me toucha et me fit tenir debout. ¹⁹ Et il dit : Voici je vais t'apprendre ce qui arrivera au dernier temps de la colère, car c'est pour l'époque de la fin. ²⁰ Le bélier à deux cornes que tu as vu, ce sont les rois de Médie et de Perse ; ²¹ et le bouc velu, c'est le roi de Javan ; et la grande corne entre ses yeux, c'est le premier roi. ²² Et quant à ce qu'elle s'est brisée et que quatre cornes se sont élevées à sa place, c'est que quatre royautés s'élèveront de cette nation, mais non pas avec la même force. ²³ Et à la fin de leur règne, quand le nombre des infidèles sera complet, s'élèvera un roi ferme de visage et sachant pénétrer les secrets. ²⁴ Il arrivera à être fort, mais non par sa propre force ; il fera de prodigieux ravages et réussira et accomplira et ravagera les puissants et le peuple des saints. ²⁵ Et à cause de son habileté, la ruse lui réussira, et il s'enorgueillira dans son coeur, et en pleine paix il fera périr beaucoup de gens ; il s'élèvera contre le prince des princes, et il sera brisé sans main. ²⁶ Et quant à la vision du soir et du matin dont il a été parlé, c'est la vérité. Mais toi, serre la vision, car elle se rapporte à un temps éloigné. ²⁷ Et moi, Daniel, je tombai en défaillance et fus malade pendant quelques jours, puis je me levai et fis les affaires du roi. J'étais stupéfait de la vision et personne ne s'en aperçut.

Daniel 9

   ¹ La première année de Darius, fils d'Assuérus, de la race des Mèdes, qui fut fait roi du royaume des Chaldéens ; ² la première année de son règne, moi, Daniel, je dirigeai mon attention en lisant les livres, sur le nombre des années dont l'Eternel avait parlé au prophète Jérémie et qui devaient s'écouler sur les ruines de Jérusalem, savoir, soixante et dix ans. ³ Et je tournai ma face vers le Seigneur, me disposant à la prière et aux supplications par le jeûne et avec le sac et la cendre.
   ⁴ Et je priai l'Eternel mon Dieu, et fis confession, et dis : Ah ! Seigneur, Dieu grand et redoutable, qui gardes l'alliance et la miséricorde à ceux qui t'aiment et gardent tes commandements ! ⁵ Nous avons péché, nous avons commis l'iniquité, nous avons été méchants et nous nous sommes rebellés, nous détournant de tes commandements et de tes lois. ⁶ Et nous n'avons pas écouté tes serviteurs les prophètes, qui ont parlé en ton nom à nos rois, à nos chefs, à nos pères et à tout le peuple du pays. ⁷ A toi, Seigneur, la justice, et à nous la confusion de face, comme c'est le cas aujourd'hui, à nous, hommes de Juda, habitants de Jérusalem et tout Israël, ceux qui sont près et ceux qui sont loin, dans tous les pays où tu les as chassés, à cause des forfaits qu'ils ont commis contre toi. ⁸ Seigneur, à nous la confusion de face, à nos rois, à nos chefs et à nos pères, parce que nous avons péché contre toi. ⁹ Au Seigneur, notre Dieu, les compassions et les pardons, car nous nous sommes rebellés contre lui. ¹⁰ Nous n'avons pas obéi à la voix de l'Eternel, notre Dieu, pour marcher selon ses lois, qu'il a mises devant nous par ses serviteurs les prophètes. ¹¹ Et tout Israël a transgressé ta loi et s'est détourné pour ne point obéir à ta voix ; et sur nous se sont déversées la malédiction et l'imprécation qui sont écrites dans la loi de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, parce que nous avons péché contre lui. ¹² Il a tenu les paroles qu'il avait prononcées contre nous et contre les juges qui nous jugeaient, en faisant venir sur nous une si grande calamité, qu'il n'y en a jamais eu sous le ciel de pareille à celle qui a frappé Jérusalem. ¹³ Comme c'était écrit dans la loi de Moïse, toute cette calamité est sur nous ; et nous n'avons pas cherché à apaiser l'Eternel notre Dieu en nous détournant de nos iniquités et en nous rendant attentifs à ta vérité. ¹⁴ Et l'Eternel a veillé sur le mal, et l'a fait venir sur nous, car l'Eternel notre Dieu est juste dans toutes les oeuvres qu'il a faites, et nous n'avons pas obéi à sa voix. ¹⁵ Et maintenant Seigneur notre Dieu, qui as tiré ton peuple du pays d'Egypte par ta main forte, et qui t'es acquis un nom tel qu'il est aujourd'hui, nous avons péché, nous avons fait le mal. ¹⁶ Seigneur, que selon toutes tes justices, ta colère et ton indignation veuillent se détourner de ta ville de Jérusalem, ta montagne sainte ; car c'est à cause de nos péchés et à cause des iniquités de nos pères que Jérusalem et ton peuple sont en opprobre à tous ceux qui nous entourent. ¹⁷ Et maintenant, écoute, ô notre Dieu ! la prière de ton serviteur et ses supplications ; et fais luire ta face sur ton sanctuaire désolé pour l'amour du Seigneur. ¹⁸ Mon Dieu, prête l'oreille et écoute ; ouvre les yeux et vois nos désolations et la ville qui est appelée de ton nom ; car ce n'est pas à cause de nos justices que nous déposons nos supplications devant ta face, mais à cause de tes grandes compassions. ¹⁹ Seigneur, entends ; Seigneur, pardonne ; Seigneur, sois attentif et fais-le ; ne tarde point, à cause de toi-même, mon Dieu, car c'est de ton nom que sont appelés ta ville et ton peuple.
   ²⁰ Et comme je parlais encore, priant, confessant mon péché et le péché de mon peuple d'Israël et déposant ma supplication devant l'Eternel, mon Dieu, pour la sainte montagne de mon Dieu, ²¹ comme je priais encore, cet homme Gabriel, que j'avais vu auparavant en vision, vint à moi en toute hâte vers le temps de l'oblation du soir. ²² Et il m'instruisit, me parla et dit : Daniel, je suis venu maintenant pour t'ouvrir l'intelligence. ²³ Dès le commencement de ta prière, une parole est sortie, et moi, je suis venu l'annoncer ; car tu es un [homme] favorisé. Fais donc attention à la parole et pénètre la vision. ²⁴ Soixante et dix semaines sont déterminées sur ton peuple et sur ta ville sainte pour enfermer l'infidélité et pour sceller [les] péchés et pour couvrir [l']iniquité, et pour amener [la] justice éternelle et pour sceller vision et prophète et pour oindre [le] Saint des saints. ²⁵ Et tu sauras et comprendras : Depuis la sortie de [la] parole [ordonnant] de ramener et de rebâtir Jérusalem jusqu'à [un] oint-chef, il y a sept semaines, et soixante-deux semaines, elle reviendra et sera rebâtie, places et enceintes, et dans la détresse des temps. ²⁶ Et après les soixante-deux semaines [un] oint sera retranché et personne pour lui. Et le peuple d'un chef qui viendra, détruira la ville et le sanctuaire, et sa fin sera en débordement, et jusqu'à la fin il y aura guerre ; les désolations sont décrétées. ²⁷ Il concluera une alliance ferme avec un grand nombre pendant une semaine, et à la moitié de la semaine il fera cesser sacrifice et oblation, et sur l'aile des abominations [vient] un désolateur, et cela jusqu'à ce que l'entière destruction qui a été décrétée fonde sur le désolé.

Daniel 10

   ¹ La troisième année de Cyrus, roi de Perse, une parole fut révélée à Daniel, qui avait été nommé Beltsatsar, et cette parole est véritable, et ce sera une grande guerre. Et il comprit la parole et il eut l'intelligence de la vision. ² En ces jours-là moi, Daniel, je fus dans le deuil pendant trois semaines entières. ³ Je ne mangeai point de pain délicat ; ni viande, ni vin n'entrèrent dans ma bouche, et je ne m'oignis point jusqu'à ce que les trois semaines fussent accomplies. ⁴ Et le vingt-quatrième jour du premier mois, j'étais sur le bord du grand fleuve, de l'Hiddékel. ⁵ Et je levai les yeux et je regardai, et voici, je vis un homme vêtu de lin et dont les reins étaient ceints d'une ceinture d'or fin d'Uphaz. ⁶ Son corps était comme de topaze, son visage paraissait comme l'éclair, ses yeux étaient des torches en feu, ses bras et ses pieds paraissaient comme de l'airain poli, et sa voix, quand il parlait, était comme la voix d'une multitude. ⁷ Et moi, Daniel, je vis seul l'apparition, et les hommes qui étaient avec moi ne la virent point ; mais une grande frayeur tomba sur eux, et ils coururent se cacher. ⁸ Et moi, je demeurai seul, et je vis cette grande apparition, et il ne me resta plus de force. Je changeai de visage, jusqu'à être tout défait, et je ne conservai aucune force. ⁹ Et j'entendis le son de ses paroles, et en entendant le son de ses paroles, je tombai assoupi sur ma face, la face contre terre.
   ¹⁰ Et voici une main me toucha, et me fit mettre sur mes genoux, et sur les paumes de mes mains, ¹¹ Puis, il me dit : Daniel, homme favorisé, comprends les paroles que je te dis et tiens-toi debout ; car j'ai été maintenant envoyé vers toi. Et quand il m'eut dit ces paroles, je me tins debout tout tremblant. ¹² Et il me dit : Ne crains point, Daniel ; car dès le premier jour où tu as pris à coeur de comprendre et de t'humilier devant ton Dieu, tes paroles ont été exaucées ; et moi, je suis venu à cause de ces paroles. ¹³ Et le chef du royaume de Perse m'a résisté vingt-et-un jours, et voici Micaël, un des premiers chefs, est venu à mon secours, et moi je suis resté seul auprès des rois de Perse. ¹⁴ Et je suis venu pour te faire entendre ce qui arrivera à ton peuple dans la fin des jours, car c'est encore une vision pour l'avenir. ¹⁵ Pendant qu'il m'adressait ces paroles, je tournais la face contre terre et je restais muet. ¹⁶ Et voici, quelqu'un qui ressemblait à un simple homme toucha mes lèvres, et j'ouvris la bouche et je parlai et je dis à celui qui se tenait devant moi : Mon Seigneur, à cette apparition j'ai été bouleversé et n'ai conservé aucune force. ¹⁷ Et comment le serviteur de mon Seigneur que voici, pourrait-il parler à mon Seigneur que voilà ? Maintenant il ne me reste plus de force, et je ne puis plus même respirer. ¹⁸ Alors celui qui avait la figure d'un homme me toucha de nouveau et me fortifia, ¹⁹ et me dit : Ne crains point, homme favorisé ; que la paix soit avec toi ! courage ! courage ! Et pendant qu'il me parlait, je pris courage et je dis : Que mon Seigneur parle, car tu m'as fortifié ! ²⁰ Il me dit : Sais-tu pourquoi je suis venu vers toi ? Et maintenant je retourne combattre avec le chef de la Perse, et au moment où je m'en irai, voilà le chef de Javan qui viendra. ²¹ Mais je te déclarerai ce qui est écrit dans le livre de vérité, et il n'y en a pas un qui tienne avec moi contre ceux-là, sinon Micaël, votre chef.

Daniel 11

   ¹ Et moi, dans la première année de Darius le Mède, je me tenais auprès de lui pour le soutenir et le fortifier. ² Maintenant je te déclarerai la vérité : Voici, il y aura encore trois rois en Perse, et le quatrième possédera de plus grandes richesses que tous les autres, et quand il sera devenu fort par ses richesses, il soulèvera tout contre le royaume de Javan. ³ Et il s'élèvera un roi, vaillant guerrier, qui aura une grande puissance et fera ce qui lui plaira. ⁴ Et dès qu'il sera élevé, son royaume se brisera et sera divisé aux quatre vents des cieux, sans appartenir à ses descendants, ni avoir la même puissance, car son royaume sera déraciné et appartiendra à d'autres qu'à eux.
   ⁵ Et le roi du Midi deviendra fort, ainsi que l'un de ses généraux et celui-ci deviendra plus fort que lui et sera puissant. Sa puissance sera grande. ⁶ Et au bout de quelques années, ils s'allieront, et la fille du roi du Midi viendra vers le roi du Septentrion pour établir un accord. Elle ne conservera pas l'appui d'un bras, car il ne tiendra pas, non plus que son propre bras, et elle sera livrée, elle et ceux qui l'avaient amenée, celui qui lui avait donné naissance et celui qui l'avait soutenue pendant un temps. ⁷ Et un des rejetons de ses racines se lèvera pour le remplacer. Il viendra à l'armée, il entrera dans les forteresses du roi du Septentrion, il agira contre eux et l'emportera. ⁸ Et il emmènera en captivité en Egypte leurs dieux mêmes, avec leurs images de fonte et avec leurs vases précieux d'or et d'argent, et il prévaudra quelques années sur le roi du Septentrion. ⁹ [Celui-ci] entrera dans le royaume du roi du Midi et s'en retournera dans son pays. ¹⁰ Mais ses fils entreront en guerre et rassembleront une grande multitude de troupes : [l'un d'eux] arrivera et débordera et envahira et poussera les hostilités contre la forteresse. ¹¹ Et le roi du Midi s'irritera et entrera en campagne et combattra contre lui, contre le roi du Septentrion, et il lèvera de grandes troupes, et cette troupe lui sera livrée. ¹² Et cette troupe étant levée, son coeur s'élèvera ; mais quoiqu'il ait fait tomber des milliers, il n'en sera pas plus fort. ¹³ Car le roi du Septentrion lèvera de nouveau des troupes plus fortes que les premières, et au bout d'un certain nombre d'années, il arrivera avec une grande armée et un train considérable. ¹⁴ Et dans ce temps-là, beaucoup de gens s'élèveront contre le roi du Midi, et des hommes violents de ton peuple se lèveront afin d'accomplir la vision, et ils tomberont. ¹⁵ Et le roi du Septentrion viendra et élèvera des terrasses et prendra une ville fortifiée, et les bras du Midi n'y pourront rien, non plus que sa troupe d'élite : rien ne pourra résister. ¹⁶ Et celui qui sera venu contre lui fera tout ce qui lui plaira, et personne ne tiendra devant lui, et il s'arrêtera dans le pays, Joyau [de la terre], et la destruction sera dans sa main. ¹⁷ Et il entreprendra de venir en force dans tout son royaume, et il y aura des justes avec lui, et il le fera, et il lui donnera une femme pour le ruiner ; mais cela ne tiendra pas, et il ne sera point à lui. ¹⁸ Puis il se tournera vers les îles et en prendra beaucoup, mais un capitaine fera cesser l'injure ; sans avoir reçu son injure, il la lui rendra. ¹⁹ Et il se tournera vers les citadelles de son pays, mais il trébuchera, tombera, et on ne le trouvera plus. ²⁰ Il y en aura à sa place un autre qui fera passer l'exacteur dans le lieu qui est la gloire du royaume ; et en quelques jours il sera brisé, et ce ne sera ni par colère, ni en guerre.
   ²¹ Il y aura à sa place un homme dédaigné, à qui on n'aura point donné la majesté ; il viendra sans bruit et s'emparera de la royauté à force de flatteries. ²² Et les forces qui débordaient seront débordées par lui et seront brisées, et aussi le chef de l'alliance. ²³ Et sans tenir compte de l'alliance, rompant les liens qui l'unissaient àlui, il agira frauduleusement, il montera et aura le dessus avec peu de gens. ²⁴ Il viendra sans bruit, dans la plus riche province, et il fera ce que n'avaient pas fait ses pères ni les pères de ses pères ; il leur distribuera butin, dépouilles et richesses, et il formera des desseins contre les forteresses, et cela jusqu'à un certain temps. ²⁵ Et il animera sa force et son courage contre le roi du Midi, à la tête d'une grande armée. Et le roi du Midi s'engagera dans la guerre avec une grande et très forte armée, mais il ne tiendra pas, parce qu'on complotera contre lui. ²⁶ Et ceux qui mangent les mets de sa table le briseront ; son armée s'écroulera et beaucoup d'hommes tomberont, frappés à mort. ²⁷ Et les deux rois chercheront dans leur coeur à se nuire, et, assis à la même table, ils se diront des mensonges. Mais cela ne réussira pas, car la fin viendra au temps marqué. ²⁸ Il retournera à son pays avec de grandes richesses ; il veut du mal à l'alliance sainte et il le fait, et il rentre dans son pays. ²⁹ Au temps marqué, il arrivera de nouveau dans le Midi, mais cette dernière expédition ne sera pas comme la première. ³⁰ Des navires de Kittim viendront contre lui, et il faiblira ; il tournera encore une fois son courroux contre l'alliance sainte, et le satisfera, et il s'entendra encore une fois avec ceux qui abandonnent l'alliance sainte. ³¹ Et des forces levées de sa part se tiendront là ; elles profaneront le sanctuaire, la forteresse, et feront cesser le sacrifice perpétuel, et ils y placeront l'abomination du dévastateur. ³² Il séduira par des flatteries les violateurs de l'alliance, mais le peuple de ceux qui connaissent leur Dieu prendra courage et agira. ³³ Ceux qui rendent intelligents parmi le peuple, instruiront la multitude, mais ils seront abattus par l'épée et la flamme, la captivité et le pillage, un certain temps. ³⁴ Et pendant qu'ils seront ainsi abattus, ils seront un peu secourus, et plusieurs se joindront à eux avec de beaux semblants. ³⁵ Et de ces sages il y en a qui seront abattus afin de faire une épreuve parmi eux, pour les purifier et les blanchir, jusqu'au temps de la fin, car on ne sera pas encore au terme. ³⁶ Et le roi fera tout ce qui lui plaira, se lèvera et se grandira au-dessus de tout dieu, par-dessus le Dieu des dieux ; il se vantera prodigieusement et il prospérera jusqu'à ce que la colère soit consommée, car ce qui est décrété sera exécuté. ³⁷ Il n'aura égard ni aux dieux de ses pères, ni à la divinité favorite des femmes ; il n'aura égard à aucun dieu, car il se grandira au-dessus de tout. ³⁸ Mais il honorera le dieu des forteresses en son lieu, il honorera un dieu que n'ont point connu ses pères, avec de l'or, de l'argent, des pierres de prix et des joyaux. ³⁹ Il agira contre les remparts des forteresses avec le dieu étranger : à ceux qui le reconnaîtront, il donnera beaucoup d'honneurs ; il les fera dominer sur la multitude, et leur distribuera des terres en récompense. ⁴⁰ Et au temps final, le roi du Midi se heurtera avec lui, et le roi du Septentrion fondra sur lui comme une tempête, avec des chars et des cavaliers et beaucoup de navires ; il entrera dans les terres et débordera comme un torrent. ⁴¹ Il entrera dans le pays du Joyau, et de nombreuses peuplades seront abattues, mais ceux-ci échapperont de sa main, Edom et Moab et la souche des enfants d'Ammon. ⁴² Il étendra la main sur les pays, et le pays d'Egypte n'échappera point. ⁴³ Il dominera sur les trésors d'or et d'argent et sur toutes les choses précieuses de l'Egypte. Daniel 12

   ¹ Et dans ce temps-là se lèvera Micaël, le grand chef qui tient pour les enfants de ton peuple, et ce sera un temps de détresse tel qu'il n'y en a point eu depuis qu'il existe une nation jusqu'à ce temps-là. Et en ce temps-là ton peuple échappera, [savoir] quiconque sera trouvé inscrit dans le livre. ² Et beaucoup de ceux qui dorment dans la terre de poussière se réveilleront, ceux-ci pour une vie éternelle, ceux-là pour un opprobre et une infamie éternels. ³ Ceux qui [en] auront rendu [d'autres] intelligents resplendiront comme la splendeur de l'étendue, et ceux qui en auront conduit beaucoup à la justice seront comme les étoiles, à toujours et à perpétuité. ⁴ Et toi, Daniel, serre les paroles et scelle le livre jusqu'au temps de la fin. Beaucoup le scruteront, et la connaissance deviendra grande.
   ⁵ Et moi, Daniel, je vis et voici deux autres hommes qui se tenaient debout, l'un sur une rive du fleuve, l'autre sur l'autre rive du fleuve. ⁶ Et il parla à l'homme vêtu de lin, qui était au-dessus des eaux du fleuve.    ¹ In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first. ² And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai. ³ Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last. ⁴ I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great. ⁵ And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. ⁶ And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power. ⁷ And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. ⁸ Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven. ⁹ And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. ¹⁰ And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. ¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down. ¹² And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. ¹³ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? ¹⁴ And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

   ¹ In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; ² In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. ³ And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
   ⁴ And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; ⁵ We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: ⁶ Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ O LORD, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. ⁹ To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; ¹⁰ Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. ¹¹ Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. ¹² And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. ¹³ As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. ¹⁴ Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. ¹⁵ And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. ¹⁶ O LORD, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us. ¹⁷ Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. ¹⁸ O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
   ²⁰ And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; ²¹ Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. ²² And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. ²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Daniel 10

   ¹ In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. ² In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. ³ I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. ⁴ And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; ⁵ Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: ⁶ His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. ⁷ And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. ⁸ Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. ⁹ Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
   ¹⁰ And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. ¹¹ And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. ¹² Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. ¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. ¹⁴ Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. ¹⁵ And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. ¹⁶ And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. ¹⁷ For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. ¹⁸ Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, ¹⁹ And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. ²⁰ Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. ²¹ But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Daniel 11

   ¹ Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him. ² And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia. ³ And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. ⁴ And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.
   ⁵ And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion. ⁶ And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times. ⁷ But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail: ⁸ And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north. ⁹ So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land. ¹⁰ But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress. ¹¹ And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand. ¹² And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it. ¹³ For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches. ¹⁴ And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall. ¹⁵ So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand. ¹⁶ But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed. ¹⁷ He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him. ¹⁸ After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him. ¹⁹ Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found. ²⁰ Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
   ²¹ And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. ²² And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. ²³ And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people. ²⁴ He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time. ²⁵ And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him. ²⁶ Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain. ²⁷ And both of these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed. ²⁸ Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land. ²⁹ At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter. ³⁰ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. ³¹ And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. ³² And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. ³³ And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. ³⁴ Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. ³⁵ And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed. ³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. ³⁷ Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. ³⁸ But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. ³⁹ Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. ⁴⁰ And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. ⁴¹ He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. ⁴² He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. ⁴³ But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. ⁴⁴ But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. ⁴⁵ And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Daniel 12

   ¹ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. ² And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. ³ And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. ⁴ But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

   ⁶ Et post finem annorum fœderabuntur : filiaque regis austri veniet ad regem aquilonis facere amicitiam, et non obtinebit fortitudinem brachii, nec stabit semen ejus : et tradetur ipsa, et qui adduxerunt eam adolescentes ejus, et qui confortabant eam in temporibus.
   ⁷ Et stabit de germine radicum ejus plantatio : et veniet cum exercitu, et ingredietur provinciam regis aquilonis : et abutetur eis, et obtinebit.
   ⁸ Insuper et deos eorum, et sculptilia, vasa quoque pretiosa argenti et auri, captiva ducet in Ægyptum : ipse prævalebit adversus regem aquilonis.
   ⁹ Et intrabit in regnum rex austri, et revertetur ad terram suam.
   ¹⁰ Filii autem ejus provocabuntur, et congregabunt multitudinem exercituum plurimorum : et veniet properans, et inundans : et revertetur, et concitabitur, et congredietur cum robore ejus.
   ¹¹ Et provocatus rex austri egredietur, et pugnabit adversus regem aquilonis, et præparabit multitudinem nimiam, et dabitur multitudo in manu ejus.
   ¹² Et capiet multitudinem, et exaltabitur cor ejus, et dejiciet multa millia, sed non prævalebit.
   ¹³ Convertetur enim rex aquilonis, et præparabit multitudinem multo majorem quam prius : et in fine temporum annorumque veniet properans cum exercitu magno, et opibus nimiis.
   ¹⁴ Et in temporibus illis multi consurgent adversus regem austri : filii quoque prævaricatorum populi tui extollentur ut impleant visionem, et corruent.
   ¹⁵ Et veniet rex aquilonis, et comportabit aggerem, et capiet urbes munitissimas : et brachia austri non sustinebunt, et consurgent electi ejus ad resistendum, et non erit fortitudo.
   ¹⁶ Et faciet veniens super eum juxta placitum suum, et non erit qui stet contra faciem ejus : et stabit in terra inclyta, et consumetur in manu ejus.
   ¹⁷ Et ponet faciem suam ut veniat ad tenendum universum regnum ejus, et recta faciet cum eo : et filiam feminarum dabit ei, ut evertat illud : et non stabit, nec illius erit.
   ¹⁸ Et convertet faciem suam ad insulas, et capiet multas : et cessare faciet principem opprobrii sui, et opprobrium ejus convertetur in eum.
   ¹⁹ Et convertet faciem suam ad imperium terræ suæ, et impinget, et corruet, et non invenietur.
   ²⁰ Et stabit in loco ejus vilissimus, et indignus decore regio : et in paucis diebus conteretur, non in furore, nec in prælio.
   ²¹ Et stabit in loco ejus despectus, et non tribuetur ei honor regius : et veniet clam, et obtinebit regnum in fraudulentia.
   ²² Et brachia pugnantis expugnabuntur a facie ejus, et conterentur : insuper et dux fœderis.
   ²³ Et post amicitias, cum eo faciet dolum : et ascendet, et superabit in modico populo.
   ²⁴ Et abundantes, et uberes urbes ingredietur : et faciet quæ non fecerunt patres ejus, et patres patrum ejus : rapinas, et prædam, et divitias eorum dissipabit, et contra firmissimas cogitationes inibit : et hoc usque ad tempus.
   ²⁵ Et concitabitur fortitudo ejus, et cor ejus adversum regem austri in exercitu magno : et rex austri provocabitur ad bellum multis auxiliis, et fortibus nimis : et non stabunt, quia inibunt adversus eum consilia.
   ²⁶ Et comedentes panem cum eo, conterent illum, exercitusque ejus opprimetur : et cadent interfecti plurimi.
   ²⁷ Duorum quoque regum cor erit ut malefaciant, et ad mensam unam mendacium loquentur : et non proficient, quia adhuc finis in aliud tempus.
   ²⁸ Et revertetur in terram suam cum opibus multis : et cor ejus adversum testamentum sanctum, et faciet, et revertetur in terram suam.
   ²⁹ Statuto tempore revertetur, et veniet ad austrum : et non erit priori simile novissimum.
   ³⁰ Et venient super eum trieres, et Romani : et percutietur, et revertetur, et indignabitur contra testamentum sanctuarii, et faciet : reverteturque, et cogitabit adversum eos qui dereliquerunt testamentum sanctuarii.
   ³¹ Et brachia ex eo stabunt, et polluent sanctuarium fortitudinis, et auferent juge sacrificium : et dabunt abominationem in desolationem.
   ³² Et impii in testamentum simulabunt fraudulenter : populus autem sciens Deum suum, obtinebit, et faciet.
   ³³ Et docti in populo docebunt plurimos : et ruent in gladio, et in flamma, et in captivitate, et in rapina dierum.
   ³⁴ Cumque corruerint, sublevabuntur auxilio parvulo : et applicabuntur eis plurimi fraudulenter.
   ³⁵ Et de eruditis ruent, ut conflentur, et eligantur, et dealbentur usque ad tempus præfinitum : quia adhuc aliud tempus erit.
   ³⁶ Et faciet juxta voluntatem suam rex, et elevabitur, et magnificabitur adversus omnem deum : et adversus Deum deorum loquetur magnifica, et dirigetur, donec compleatur iracundia : perpetrata quippe est definitio.
   ³⁷ Et Deum patrum suorum non reputabit : et erit in concupiscentiis feminarum, nec quemquam deorum curabit, quia adversum universa consurget.
   ³⁸ Deum autem Maozim in loco suo venerabitur : et deum, quem ignoraverunt patres ejus, colet auro, et argento, et lapide pretioso, rebusque pretiosis.
   ³⁹ Et faciet ut muniat Maozim cum deo alieno, quem cognovit, et multiplicabit gloriam, et dabit eis potestatem in multis, et terram dividet gratuito.
   ⁴⁰ Et in tempore præfinito præliabitur adversus eum rex austri, et quasi tempestas veniet contra illum rex aquilonis in curribus, et in equitibus, et in classe magna, et ingredietur terras, et conteret, et pertransiet.
   ⁴¹ Et introibit in terram gloriosam, et multæ corruent : hæ autem solæ salvabuntur de manu ejus, Edom, et Moab, et principium filiorum Ammon.
   ⁴² Et mittet manum suam in terras : et terra Ægypti non effugiet.
   ⁴³ Et dominabitur thesaurorum auri, et argenti, et in omnibus pretiosis Ægypti : per Libyam quoque, et Æthiopiam transibit.
   ⁴⁴ Et fama turbabit eum ab oriente et ab aquilone : et veniet in multitudine magna ut conterat et interficiat plurimos.
   ⁴⁵ Et figet tabernaculum suum Apadno inter maria, super montem inclytum et sanctum : et veniet usque ad summitatem ejus, et nemo auxiliabitur ei.

Daniel 12

   ¹ In tempore autem illo consurget Michaël princeps magnus, qui stat pro filiis populi tui : et veniet tempus quale non fuit ab eo ex quo gentes esse cœperunt usque ad tempus illud. Et in tempore illo salvabitur populus tuus, omnis qui inventus fuerit scriptus in libro.
   ² Et multi de his qui dormiunt in terræ pulvere evigilabunt, alii in vitam æternam, et alii in opprobrium ut videant semper.
   ³ Qui autem docti fuerint, fulgebunt quasi splendor firmamenti : et qui ad justitiam erudiunt multos, quasi stellæ in perpetuas æternitates.
   ⁴ Tu autem Daniel, claude sermones, et signa librum usque ad tempus statutum : plurimi pertransibunt, et multiplex erit scientia.
   ⁵ Et vidi ego Daniel, et ecce quasi duo alii stabant : unus hinc super ripam fluminis, et alius inde ex altera ripa fluminis.
   ⁶ Et dixi viro qui erat indutus lineis, qui stabat super aquas fluminis : Usquequo finis horum mirabilium ?
   ⁷ Et audivi virum qui indutus erat lineis, qui stabat super aquas fluminis, cum elevasset dexteram et sinistram suam in cælum, et jurasset per viventem in æternum, quia in tempus, et tempora, et dimidium temporis. Et cum completa fuerit dispersio manus populi sancti, complebuntur universa hæc.
   ⁸ Et ego audivi, et non intellexi. Et dixi : Domine mi, quid erit post hæc ?
   ⁹ Et ait : Vade, Daniel, quia clausi sunt signatique sermones usque ad præfinitum tempus.
   ¹⁰ Eligentur, et dealbabuntur, et quasi ignis probabuntur multi : et impie agent impii, neque intelligent omnes impii : porro docti intelligent.
   ¹¹ Et a tempore cum ablatum fuerit juge sacrificium, et posita fuerit abominatio in desolationem, dies mille ducenti nonaginta.
   ¹² Beatus qui exspectat, et pervenit usque ad dies mille trecentos triginta quinque.
   ¹³ Tu autem vade ad præfinitum : et requiesces, et stabis in sorte tua in finem dierum.
