1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; 2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:Dn 9:1-3 (Nouvelle Edition de Genève)
Prière et confession de Daniel
1 La première année de Darius, fils d'Assuérus, de la race des Mèdes, lequel était devenu roi du royaume des Chaldéens, 2 la première année de son règne, moi, Daniel, je vis par les livres qu'il devait s'écouler soixante-dix ans pour les ruines de Jérusalem, d'après le nombre des années dont l'Eternel avait parlé à Jérémie, le prophète. 3 Je tournai ma face vers le Seigneur Dieu, afin de recourir à la prière et aux supplications, en jeûnant et en prenant le sac et la cendre.
