Jr 15:1-17:4 (Catholique Crampon)

¹ Jéhovah me répondit : quand Moïse et Samuel se tiendraient devant moi, Mon âme ne se tournerait pas vers ce peuple ; chasse-les de devant ma face et qu'ils partent ! ² Et s'ils te disent : "où irons-nous ?" tu leur diras : ainsi parle Jéhovah : celui qui est pour la mort, à la mort ; celui qui est pour l'épée, à l'épée ; celui qui est pour la famine, à la famine ; et celui qui est pour la captivité, à la captivité. ³ Et j'enverrais sur eux quatre familles de fléaux : l'épée pour tuer, les chiens pour déchirer, les oiseaux du ciel et les bêtes de la terre pour dévorer et pour détruire. ⁴ Je les livrerai aux mauvais traitements de tous les royaumes de la terre, à cause de Manassé, fils d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda, pour tout ce qu'il a fait dans Jérusalem. ⁵ Qui donc aura pitié de toi, Jérusalem ? Qui sera touché de ton sort ? Qui se détournera de sa route pour s'informer de ton état ? ⁶ Tu m'as repoussé, dit Jéhovah, pour te retirer en arrière, et je vais étendre ma main sur toi pour te faire périr ; Je suis las de me repentir. ⁷ Je les vannerai avec le van aux portes du pays ; Je les priverai d'enfants ; Je ferai périr mon peuple ; ils ne reviennent pas de leurs voies. ⁸ Ses veuves seront plus nombreuses que le sable de la mer. Je leur amènerai, sur la mère du jeune homme, le dévastateur en plein midi ; Je ferai fondre soudain sur elle l'angoisse et l'épouvante. ⁹ La mère des sept fils se sent défaillir, elle rend l'âme ; son soleil se couche pendant qu'il est jour encore ; elle est confuse, couverte de honte. Ceux qui resteront, je les livrerai à l'épée devant leurs ennemis, dit Jéhovah. ¹⁰ Malheur à moi, ô ma mère, parce que tu m'as enfanté, moi, homme de contestation et de querelle pour tout le pays. Je n'ai rien prêté, et tous me maudissent. ¹¹ Jéhovah dit : oui, je t'affermirai pour ton bien ; certainement, j'amènerai ton ennemi à te supplier au temps du malheur et de la détresse. ¹² Le fer brisera-t-il le fer du nord et l'airain ? ¹³ Je livrerai tes biens et tes trésors au pillage, sans paiement, pour tous tes péchés et sur tout ton territoire ; ¹⁴ Et je les ferai passer avec tes ennemis dans un pays que tu ne connais pas ; car un feu s'est allumé dans ma colère ; il brûlera sur vous. ¹⁵ Tu le sais, Jéhovah ! Souviens-toi de moi, visite-moi et venge-moi de mes persécuteurs ; prends soin de moi ; ne retarde pas ton courroux ; sache que c'est pour toi que je porte l'opprobre. ¹⁶ Dès que tu m'as communiqué tes paroles, je les ai dévorées ; elles sont devenues ma joie et l'allégresse de mon coeur, parce que ton nom a été invoqué sur moi, Jéhovah, Dieu des armées. ¹⁷ Je ne me suis point assis dans l'assemblée des rieurs pour m'y livrer à la gaieté ; sous ta main, je me suis assis solitaire, car tu m'avais rempli de courroux. ¹⁸ Pourquoi ma souffrance est-elle continuelle, et ma plaie douloureuse, rebelle à la guérison ? Serais-tu pour moi comme un ruisseau trompeur, comme des eaux qui disparaissent ? ¹⁹ C'est pourquoi Jéhovah parle ainsi : si tu reviens à moi, je te ramènerai, tu te tiendras devant ma face ; et si tu sépares ce qui est précieux de ce qui est vil, tu seras comme ma bouche ; ils reviendront à toi, et tu ne retourneras pas vers eux. ²⁰ Je ferai de toi, pour ce peuple, une forte muraille d'airain ; ils te feront la guerre, mais ils ne l'emporteront pas sur toi ; car je serai avec toi pour te secourir et te délivrer, dit Jéhovah. ²¹ Je te délivrerai de la main des méchants, et je te rachèterai de la main des violents.

Jérémie 16

¹ La parole de Jéhovah me fut adressée en ces termes : ² Tu ne prendras point de femme et tu n'auras point de fils ni de filles en ce lieu. ³ Car ainsi parle Jéhovah touchant les fils et les filles qui naissent en ce lieu, les mères qui les enfantent et les pères qui les engendrent en ce pays : ⁴ Ils mourront de maladies mortelles ; on ne leur donnera ni larmes ni sépulture ; ils seront du fumier sur le sol ; ils périront par l'épée et la famine, et leurs cadavres seront la pâture des oiseaux du ciel et des bêtes de la terre. ⁵ Car ainsi parle Jéhovah : n'entre pas dans la maison de deuil ; ne va point pleurer et te lamenter avec eux ; car j'ai retiré à ce peuple ma paix, dit Jéhovah, Ma grâce et ma compassion.. ⁶ Grands et petits mourront dans ce pays ; ils n'auront point de sépulture et ne seront pas pleurés ; on ne se fera point d'incisions, on ne se rasera point pour eux. ⁷ On ne leur rompra point le pain du deuil pour les consoler au sujet d'un mort, et on ne leur offrira pas la coupe de consolation pour un père et pour une mère. ⁸ Ne va pas dans la maison du festin pour t'asseoir avec eux, Pour manger et pour boire ; ⁹ Car ainsi parle Jéhovah des armées, Dieu d'Israël : Je vais faire cesser en ce lieu, sous vos yeux et de vos jours, le cri de joie et le cri d'allégresse, le chant du fiancé et le chant de la fiancée. ¹⁰ Lorsque tu annonceras toutes ces choses à ce peuple, ils te diront : "Pourquoi Jéhovah nous menace-t-il de tous ces grands malheurs ? Quelle est notre iniquité, et quel est le péché que nous avons commis Contre Jéhovah, notre Dieu ?" ¹¹ Et tu leur diras : "c'est que vos pères m'ont abandonné, dit Jéhovah ; ils sont allés après d'autres dieux, ils les ont servis, ils les ont adorés, et moi, ils m'ont abandonné, et n'ont pas observé ma loi. ¹² Et vous, vous avez fait pis que vos pères, et voici que chacun de vous suit l'opiniâtreté de son mauvais coeur, pour ne point m'écouter. ¹³ Je vous jetterai hors de ce pays dans un pays que vous n'aurez pas connu, ni vous ni vos pères, et là vous servirez les dieux étrangers nuit et jour ; car je ne vous ferai point grâce." ¹⁴ C'est pourquoi voici, dit Jéhovah, que des jours viennent où l'on ne dira plus : Jéhovah est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter du pays d'Égypte les enfants d'Israël : ¹⁵ Mais : Jéhovah est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter les enfants d'Israël du pays du septentrion et de tous les pays où il les avait chassés ; et je les ramènerai dans leur pays que j'avais donné à leurs pères. ¹⁶ Voici que j'appelle en foule Des pêcheurs pour les pêcher, dit Jéhovah ; et après cela j'appellerai en foule des chasseurs qui leur donneront la chasse sur toutes les montagnes, sur toutes les collines et dans les fentes des rochers. ¹⁷ Car mes yeux sont sur toutes leurs voies ; elles ne sont pas cachées devant ma face et leur iniquité ne se dérobe point à mes regards. ¹⁸ Tout d'abord je leur paierai au double le salaire de leur iniquité et de leurs péchés, parce qu'ils ont profané mon pays par les cadavres de leurs infâmes idoles et rempli mon héritage de leurs abominations. ¹⁹ Jéhovah, ma force, mon rempart et mon refuge au jour de la détresse, les nations viendront à toi des extrémités de la terre et diront : nos Pères n'ont eu en héritage que le mensonge, Des vanités qui ne servent à rien. ²⁰ Se peut-il qu'un homme se fasse des dieux ? Et ce ne sont pas des dieux ! ²¹ C'est pourquoi je vais leur faire connaître ma main et ma puissance, et ils sauront que mon nom est Jéhovah.

Jérémie 17

¹ Le péché de Juda est écrit avec un stylet de fer, avec une pointe de diamant ; il est gravé sur la table de leurs coeurs et aux cornes de vos autels. ² Comme ils pensent à leurs enfants, ainsi pensent-ils à leurs autels et à leurs idoles d'Astarté près des arbres verts sur les collines élevées. ³ O ma montagne qui es dans le champ, Je livrerai au pillage tes biens, tous tes trésors, tes hauts lieux, à cause de tes péchés sur tout ton territoire. ⁴ Tu laisseras en friche, et par ta faute, ton héritage que je t'avais donné ; Je t'asservirai à tes ennemis dans un pays que tu ne connais pas ; car vous avez allumé le feu de ma colère, et il brûle pour jamais.

   ¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. ² And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. ³ And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy. ⁴ And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. ⁵ For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest? ⁶ Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. ⁷ And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people since they return not from their ways. ⁸ Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city. ⁹ She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
   ¹⁰ Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me. ¹¹ The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. ¹² Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? ¹³ Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. ¹⁴ And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.
   ¹⁵ O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke. ¹⁶ Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. ¹⁷ I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation. ¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail? ¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. ²⁰ And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. ²¹ And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

Jérémie 16

   ¹ The word of the LORD came also unto me, saying, ² Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place. ³ For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land; ⁴ They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth. ⁵ For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies. ⁶ Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them: ⁷ Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother. ⁸ Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink. ⁹ For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
   ¹⁰ And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God? ¹¹ Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; ¹² And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me: ¹³ Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
   ¹⁴ Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; ¹⁵ But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. ¹⁶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. ¹⁷ For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. ¹⁸ And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things. ¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. ²⁰ Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? ²¹ Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.

Jérémie 17

   ¹ The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars; ² Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills. ³ O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders. ⁴ And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.

et extendam manum meam super te, et interficiam te :

interfeci et disperdidi populum meum,

   ⁸ Multiplicatæ sunt mihi viduæ ejus super arenam maris :

si non occurri tibi in tempore afflictionis,

   ¹ Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :
   ² [Non accipies uxorem,
et non erunt tibi filii et filiæ in loco isto.
   ³ Quia hæc dicit Dominus
super filios et filias qui generantur in loco isto,
et super matres eorum, quæ genuerunt eos,
et super patres eorum, de quorum stirpe sunt nati in terra hac :
   ⁴ Mortibus ægrotationum morientur :
non plangentur, et non sepelientur :
in sterquilinium super faciem terræ erunt,
et gladio et fame consumentur :
et erit cadaver eorum in escam volatilibus cæli et bestiis terræ.
   ⁵ Hæc enim dicit Dominus :
Ne ingrediaris domum convivii,
neque vadas ad plangendum,
neque consoleris eos,
quia abstuli pacem meam a populo isto, dicit Dominus,
misericordiam et miserationes.
   ⁶ Et morientur grandes et parvi in terra ista :
non sepelientur, neque plangentur,
et non se incident,
neque calvitium fiet pro eis.
   ⁷ Et non frangent inter eos lugenti panem
ad consolandum super mortuo,
et non dabunt eis potum calicis
ad consolandum super patre suo et matre.
   ⁸ Et domum convivii non ingrediaris,
ut sedeas cum eis, et comedas, et bibas.
   ⁹ Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël :
Ecce ego auferam de loco isto,
in oculis vestris, et in diebus vestris,
vocem gaudii et vocem lætitiæ,
vocem sponsi et vocem sponsæ.
   ¹⁰ Et cum annuntiaveris populo huic omnia verba hæc,
et dixerint tibi :
Quare locutus est Dominus super nos omne malum grande istud ?
quæ iniquitas nostra,
et quod peccatum nostrum,
quod peccavimus Domino Deo nostro ?
   ¹¹ dices ad eos :
Quia dereliquerunt me patres vestri, ait Dominus,
et abierunt post deos alienos,
et servierunt eis, et adoraverunt eos,
et me dereliquerunt, et legem meam non custodierunt.
   ¹² Sed et vos pejus operati estis quam patres vestri :
ecce enim ambulat unusquisque post pravitatem cordis sui mali,
ut me non audiat.
   ¹³ Et ejiciam vos de terra hac
in terram quam ignoratis,
vos et patres vestri :
et servietis ibi diis alienis, die ac nocte,
qui non dabunt vobis requiem.
   ¹⁴ Propterea ecce dies veniunt, dicit Dominus,
et non dicetur ultra :
Vivit Dominus qui eduxit filios Israël de terra Ægypti,
   ¹⁵ sed : Vivit Dominus qui eduxit filios Israël de terra aquilonis,
et de universis terris ad quas ejeci eos :
et reducam eos in terram suam,
quam dedi patribus eorum.
   ¹⁶ Ecce ego mittam piscatores multos, dicit Dominus,
et piscabuntur eos :
et post hæc mittam eis multos venatores,
et venabuntur eos de omni monte,
et de omni colle, et de cavernis petrarum.
   ¹⁷ Quia oculi mei super omnes vias eorum :
non sunt absconditæ a facie mea,
et non fuit occultata iniquitas eorum ab oculis meis.
   ¹⁸ Et reddam primum duplices iniquitates et peccata eorum,
quia contaminaverunt terram meam in morticinis idolorum suorum,
et abominationibus suis impleverunt hæreditatem meam.
   ¹⁹ Domine, fortitudo mea, et robur meum,
et refugium meum in die tribulationis,
ad te gentes venient ab extremis terræ, et dicent :
Vere mendacium possederunt patres nostri,
vanitatem quæ eis non profuit.
   ²⁰ Numquid faciet sibi homo deos,
et ipsi non sunt dii ?
   ²¹ Idcirco ecce ego ostendam eis per vicem hanc,
ostendam eis manum meam, et virtutem meam,
et scient quia nomen mihi Dominus.]

   ¹ [Peccatum Juda scriptum est stylo ferreo
in ungue adamantino,
exaratum super latitudinem cordis eorum,
et in cornibus ararum eorum.
   ² Cum recordati fuerint filii eorum ararum suarum,
et lucorum suorum,
lignorumque frondentium,
in montibus excelsis,
   ³ sacrificantes in agro :
fortitudinem tuam, et omnes thesauros tuos in direptionem dabo ;
excelsa tua propter peccata in universis finibus tuis.
   ⁴ Et relinqueris sola ab hæreditate tua, quam dedi tibi,
et servire te faciam inimicis tuis in terra quam ignoras :
quoniam ignem succendisti in furore meo :
usque in æternum ardebit.]
