Jr 42:1-6 (King James)

   ¹ Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near, ² And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:) ³ That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do. ⁴ Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you. ⁵ Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. ⁶ Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.

   ¹ Alors tous les Capitaines des gens de guerre, et Johanan fils de Karéah, et Jézania fils de Hosahia, et tout le peuple, depuis le plus petit jusqu’au plus grand, s'approchèrent, ² Et dirent à Jérémie le Prophète : que notre supplication soit reçue de toi, et fais requête à l'Eternel ton Dieu pour nous, [savoir] pour tout ce reste-ci ; car de beaucoup [de monde que nous étions] nous sommes restés peu, comme tes yeux nous voient ; ³ Et que l'Eternel ton Dieu nous déclare le chemin par lequel nous aurons à marcher, et ce que nous avons à faire. ⁴ Et Jérémie le Prophète leur répondit : J'ai entendu [votre demande] ; voici, je m'en vais faire requête à l'Eternel votre Dieu selon vos paroles ; et il arrivera que je vous déclarerai tout ce que l'Eternel vous répondra, et je ne vous en cacherai pas un mot. ⁵ Et ils dirent à Jérémie : l'Eternel soit pour témoin véritable et fidèle entre nous, si nous ne faisons selon toutes les paroles, pour lesquelles l'Eternel ton Dieu t'aura envoyé vers nous. ⁶ Soit bien, soit mal, nous obéirons à la voix de l'Eternel notre Dieu, vers lequel nous t'envoyons ; afin qu'il nous arrive du bien quand nous aurons obéi à la voix de l'Eternel notre Dieu.

   ¹ Et accesserunt omnes principes bellatorum, et Johanan filius Caree, et Jezonias filius Osaiæ, et reliquum vulgus, a parvo usque ad magnum,
   ² dixeruntque ad Jeremiam prophetam : Cadat oratio nostra in conspectu tuo, et ora pro nobis ad Dominum Deum tuum, pro universis reliquiis istis, quia derelicti sumus pauci de pluribus, sicut oculi tui nos intuentur :
   ³ et annuntiet nobis Dominus Deus tuus viam per quam pergamus, et verbum quod faciamus.
   ⁴ Dixit autem ad eos Jeremias propheta : Audivi. Ecce ego oro ad Dominum Deum vestrum secundum verba vestra : omne verbum quodcumque responderit mihi indicabo vobis, nec celabo vos quidquam.
   ⁵ Et illi dixerunt ad Jeremiam : Sit Dominus inter nos testis veritatis et fidei, si non juxta omne verbum in quo miserit te Dominus Deus tuus ad nos, sic faciemus :
   ⁶ sive bonum est, sive malum, voci Domini Dei nostri, ad quem mittimus te, obediemus, ut bene sit nobis cum audierimus vocem Domini Dei nostri.
