Lc 13:23-30 (King James)

   ²³ Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, ²⁴ Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. ²⁵ When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: ²⁶ Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. ²⁷ But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. ²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. ²⁹ And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

   ²³ Quelqu'un lui dit: Seigneur, n'y a-t-il que peu de gens qui soient sauvés ? Il leur répondit: ²⁴ Efforcez-vous d'entrer par la porte étroite. Car, je vous le dis, beaucoup chercheront à entrer, et ne le pourront pas. ²⁵ Quand le maître de la maison se sera levé et aura fermé la porte, et que vous, étant dehors, vous commencerez à frapper à la porte, en disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous ! il vous répondra: Je ne sais d'où vous êtes. ²⁶ Alors vous vous mettrez à dire: Nous avons mangé et bu devant toi, et tu as enseigné dans nos rues. ²⁷ Et il répondra: Je vous le dis, je ne sais d'où vous êtes ; retirez-vous de moi, vous tous, ouvriers d'iniquité. ²⁸ C'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents, quand vous verrez Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et tous les prophètes, dans le royaume de Dieu, et que vous serez jetés dehors. ²⁹ Il en viendra de l'orient et de l'occident, du nord et du midi ; et ils se mettront à table dans le royaume de Dieu. ³⁰ Et voici, il y en a des derniers qui seront les premiers, et des premiers qui seront les derniers.
