   ⁵ And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: ⁶ Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned. ⁷ We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses. ⁸ Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: ⁹ But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there. ¹⁰ Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand. ¹¹ O LORD, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.    ⁵ et je dis: O Éternel, Dieu des cieux, Dieu grand et redoutable, toi qui gardes ton alliance et qui fais miséricorde à ceux qui t'aiment et qui observent tes commandements ! ⁶ Que ton oreille soit attentive et que tes yeux soient ouverts: écoute la prière que ton serviteur t'adresse en ce moment, jour et nuit, pour tes serviteurs les enfants d'Israël, en confessant les péchés des enfants d'Israël, nos péchés contre toi ; car moi et la maison de mon père, nous avons péché. ⁷ Nous t'avons offensé, et nous n'avons point observé les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances que tu prescrivis à Moïse, ton serviteur. ⁸ Souviens-toi de cette parole que tu donnas ordre à Moïse, ton serviteur, de prononcer. Lorsque vous pécherez, je vous disperserai parmi les peuples ; ⁹ mais si vous revenez à moi, et si vous observez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique, alors, quand vous seriez exilés à l'extrémité du ciel, de là je vous rassemblerai et je vous ramènerai dans le lieu que j'ai choisi pour y faire résider mon nom. ¹⁰ Ils sont tes serviteurs et ton peuple, que tu as rachetés par ta grande puissance et par ta main forte. ¹¹ Ah ! Seigneur, que ton oreille soit attentive à la prière de ton serviteur, et à la prière de tes serviteurs qui veulent craindre ton nom ! Donne aujourd'hui du succès à ton serviteur, et fais-lui trouver grâce devant cet homme ! J'étais alors échanson du roi.

   ⁵ et dixi : Quæso, Domine Deus cæli fortis, magne atque terribilis, qui custodis pactum et misericordiam cum his qui te diligunt, et custodiunt mandata tua : ⁶ fiant aures tuæ auscultantes, et oculi tui aperti, ut audias orationem servi tui, quam ego oro coram te hodie nocte et die pro filiis Israël servis tuis : et confiteor pro peccatis filiorum Israël, quibus peccaverunt tibi : ego et domus patris mei peccavimus, ⁷ vanitate seducti sumus, et non custodivimus mandatum tuum, et cæremonias, et judicia quæ præcepisti Moysi famulo tuo. ⁸ Memento verbi quod mandasti Moysi servo tuo, dicens : Cum transgressi fueritis, ego dispergam vos in populos : ⁹ et si revertamini ad me, et custodiatis præcepta mea, et faciatis ea : etiamsi abducti fueritis ad extrema cæli, inde congregabo vos, et reducam in locum quem elegi ut habitaret nomen meum ibi. ¹⁰ Et ipsi servi tui, et populus tuus, quos redemisti in fortitudine tua magna, et in manu tua valida.
