   ⁶ Et moi, j'ai dit dans ma prospérité : Je ne serai jamais ébranlé. ⁷ Éternel ! par ta faveur, tu as donné la stabilité et la force à ma montagne… ; tu as caché ta face, j'ai été épouvanté. ⁸ Éternel ! j'ai crié à toi, et j'ai supplié le Seigneur* : ⁹ Quel profit y a-t-il en mon sang, quand je descendrais dans la fosse ? La poussière te célébrera-t-elle ? Annoncera-t-elle ta vérité ? ¹⁰ Écoute, ô Éternel ! et use de grâce envers moi ; Éternel, sois-moi en aide. ¹¹ Tu as changé mon deuil en allégresse*, tu as détaché mon sac, et tu m'as ceint de joie ; ¹² Afin que [mon] âme* te loue par des cantiques et ne se taise point. Éternel, mon Dieu ! je te célébrerai à toujours.

   ⁶ And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. ⁷ LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. ⁸ I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. ⁹ What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? ¹⁰ Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. ¹¹ Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; ¹² To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

⁶ car sa colère dure un instant,
mais sa grâce toute la vie:
le soir arrivent les pleurs,
et le matin l'allégresse.
⁷ Je disais dans ma tranquillité:
«Je ne serai jamais ébranlé!»
⁸ Eternel, par ta grâce tu avais affermi ma montagne.
Tu t'es caché, et j'ai été épouvanté.
⁹ Eternel, j'ai crié à toi,
j'ai imploré l'Eternel:
¹⁰ «Que gagnes-tu à verser mon sang,
à me faire descendre dans la tombe?
La poussière te célèbre-t-elle?
Raconte-t-elle ta fidélité?
¹¹ Ecoute, Eternel, aie pitié de moi!
Eternel, secours-moi!»
¹² Et tu as changé mes lamentations en allégresse,
tu m'as retiré mes habits de deuil pour me donner un habit de fête.
