¹ Sentence Parole de Yahweh contre le pays d'Hadrach ; et à Damas sera son séjour, ‒ car Yahweh a l'oeil sur les hommes, et sur toutes les tribus d'Israël ; ² et aussi à Hamath, voisine de Damas, à Tyr, ainsi qu'à Sidon, parce que leur sagesse est grande. ³ Tyr s'est construit une citadelle, elle a amassé l'argent comme la poussière, et l'or comme la boue des rues. ⁴ Voici que le Seigneur s'en emparera ; il frappera sur mer sa puissance, et elle-même sera dévorée par le feu. ⁵ Ascalon le verra et craindra ; Gaza aussi, et elle se tordra de douleur ; Accaron aussi, car son espérance est confondue. Il n'y aura plus de roi à Gaza, et Ascalon ne sera plus habitée. ⁶ Un vil étranger s'installera à Azoth, et je détruirai l'orgueil des Philistins. ⁷ J'ôterai son sang de sa bouche, et ses abominations d'entre ses dents ; et lui aussi sera un reste pour notre Dieu ; il sera comme un chef en Juda ; et Accaron sera comme le Jébuséen. ⁸ Je camperai autour de ma maison pour la défendre ; contre toute armée, tout allant et venant ; et il ne passera plus chez eux d'oppresseur, car maintenant j'ai vu de mes yeux.

   ¹ The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD. ² And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise. ³ And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. ⁴ Behold, the LORD will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire. ⁵ Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. ⁶ And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. ⁷ And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite. ⁸ And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.

et Damasci requiei ejus,
quia Domini est oculus hominis et omnium tribuum Israël.
   ² Emath quoque in terminis ejus, et Tyrus, et Sidon :
assumpserunt quippe sibi sapientiam valde.
   ³ Et ædificavit Tyrus munitionem suam,
et coacervavit argentum quasi humum,
et aurum ut lutum platearum.
   ⁴ Ecce Dominus possidebit eam :
et percutiet in mari fortitudinem ejus,
et hæc igni devorabitur.
   ⁵ Videbit Ascalon, et timebit,
et Gaza, et dolebit nimis,
et Accaron, quoniam confusa est spes ejus :
et peribit rex de Gaza,
et Ascalon non habitabitur.
   ⁶ Et sedebit separator in Azoto,
et disperdam superbiam Philisthinorum.
   ⁷ Et auferam sanguinem ejus de ore ejus,
et abominationes ejus de medio dentium ejus :
et relinquetur etiam ipse Deo nostro,
