¹² Or, ayant ouï dire que Jean avait été livré, il se retira en Galilée ;
¹³ et ayant quitté Nazareth, il alla demeurer à Capernaüm, qui est au bord de la mer*, sur les confins de Zabulon et de Nephthali,
¹⁴ afin que fût accompli ce qui avait été dit par Ésaïe le prophète, disant :
¹⁵ «Terre de Zabulon, et terre de Nephthali, chemin de la mer au delà du Jourdain, Galilée des nations :
¹⁶ le peuple assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière ; et à ceux qui sont assis dans la région et dans l'ombre de la mort, la lumière s'est levée sur eux» {Ésaïe 9:1-2}.
¹⁷ Dès lors Jésus commença à prêcher et à dire : Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux s'est approché.

¹² Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
¹³ And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
¹⁴ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
¹⁵ The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
¹⁶ The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
