BCC ³ Et voici par quoi nous savons que nous le connaissons : si nous gardons ses commandements.

KJV ³ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

BCC ⁴ Celui qui dit le connaitre et ne garde pas ses commandements, est un menteur, et la vérité n'est point en lui.

KJV ⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

BCC ⁵ Mais celui qui garde sa parole, c'est en lui véritablement que l'amour de Dieu est parfait ; par là nous connaissons que nous sommes en lui.

KJV ⁵ But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

BCC ⁶ Celui qui dit demeurer en lui doit lui aussi marcher comme il a marché lui-même.

KJV ⁶ He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

BCC ⁷ Mes bien-aimés, ce n'est pas un commandement nouveau que je vous écris, c'est un commandement ancien, que vous avez reçu dès le commencement ; ce commandement ancien, c'est la parole que vous avez entendue.

KJV ⁷ Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

BCC ⁸ D'un autre côté, c'est un commandement nouveau que je vous écris, lequel s'est vérifié en Jésus-Christ et en vous, car les ténèbres se dissipent et déjà brille la véritable lumière.

KJV ⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

BCC ⁹ Celui qui dit être dans la lumière et qui hait son frère est encore dans les ténèbres.

KJV ⁹ He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

BCC ¹⁰ Celui qui aime son frère, demeure dans la lumière, et il n'y a en lui aucun sujet de chute.

KJV ¹⁰ He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

BCC ¹¹ Mais celui qui hait son frère est dans les ténèbres ; il marche dans les ténèbres, sans savoir où il va, parce que les ténèbres ont aveuglé ses yeux.

KJV ¹¹ But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
