KJV ⁹ And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

KJV ¹⁰ And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

VULC ¹⁰ et quadraginta et uno anno regnavit in Jerusalem. Nomen matris ejus Maacha filia Abessalom.

WLC ¹⁰ וְאַרְבָּעִ֤ים וְאַחַת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ מַעֲכָ֖ה בַּת־ אֲבִישָׁלֽוֹם׃

KJV ¹¹ And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

VULC ¹¹ Et fecit Asa rectum ante conspectum Domini, sicut David pater ejus :

WLC ¹¹ וַיַּ֧עַשׂ אָסָ֛א הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כְּדָוִ֖ד אָבִֽיו׃

KJV ¹² And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

VULC ¹² et abstulit effeminatos de terra, purgavitque universas sordes idolorum quæ fecerant patres ejus.

WLC ¹² וַיַּעֲבֵ֥ר הַקְּדֵשִׁ֖ים מִן־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיָּ֙סַר֙ אֶת־ כָּל־ הַגִּלֻּלִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשׂ֖וּ אֲבֹתָֽיו׃

KJV ¹³ And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

VULC ¹³ Insuper et Maacham matrem suam amovit, ne esset princeps in sacris Priapi, et in luco ejus quem consecraverat : subvertitque specum ejus, et confregit simulacrum turpissimum, et combussit in torrente Cedron :

WLC ¹³ וְגַ֣ם ׀ אֶת־ מַעֲכָ֣ה אִמּ֗וֹ וַיְסִרֶ֙הָ֙ מִגְּבִירָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ עָשְׂתָ֥ה מִפְלֶ֖צֶת לָאֲשֵׁרָ֑ה וַיִּכְרֹ֤ת אָסָא֙ אֶת־ מִפְלַצְתָּ֔הּ וַיִּשְׂרֹ֖ף בְּנַ֥חַל קִדְרֽוֹן׃

KJV ¹⁴ But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

VULC ¹⁴ excelsa autem non abstulit. Verumtamen cor Asa perfectum erat cum Domino cunctis diebus suis :

WLC ¹⁴ וְהַבָּמ֖וֹת לֹא־ סָ֑רוּ רַ֣ק לְבַב־ אָסָ֗א הָיָ֥ה שָׁלֵ֛ם עִם־ יְהוָ֖ה כָּל־ יָמָֽיו׃

KJV ¹⁵ And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

VULC ¹⁵ et intulit ea quæ sanctificaverat pater suus, et voverat, in domum Domini, argentum, et aurum, et vasa.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיָּבֵא֙ אֶת־ קָדְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יו בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה כֶּ֥סֶף וְזָהָ֖ב וְכֵלִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁶ And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

VULC ¹⁶ Bellum autem erat inter Asa, et Baasa regem Israël cunctis diebus eorum.

WLC ¹⁶ וּמִלְחָמָ֨ה הָיְתָ֜ה בֵּ֣ין אָסָ֗א וּבֵ֛ין בַּעְשָׁ֥א מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כָּל־ יְמֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹⁷ And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

VULC ¹⁷ Ascendit quoque Baasa rex Israël in Judam, et ædificavit Rama, ut non posset quispiam egredi vel ingredi de parte Asa regis Juda.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיַּ֨עַל בַּעְשָׁ֤א מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עַל־ יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיִּ֖בֶן אֶת־ הָרָמָ֑ה לְבִלְתִּ֗י תֵּ֚ת יֹצֵ֣א וָבָ֔א לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

VULC ¹⁸ Tollens itaque Asa omne argentum et aurum quod remanserat in thesauris domus Domini, et in thesauris domus regiæ, et dedit illud in manus servorum suorum : et misit ad Benadad filium Tabremon filii Hezion, regem Syriæ, qui habitabat in Damasco, dicens :

WLC ¹⁸ וַיִּקַּ֣ח אָ֠סָא אֶת־ כָּל־ הַכֶּ֨סֶף וְהַזָּהָ֜ב הַֽנּוֹתָרִ֣ים ׀ בְּאוֹצְר֣וֹת בֵּית־ יְהוָ֗ה וְאֶת־ אֽוֹצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיַד־ עֲבָדָ֑יו וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֞ם הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָסָ֗א אֶל־ בֶּן־ הֲ֠דַד בֶּן־ טַבְרִמֹּ֤ן בֶּן־ חֶזְיוֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם הַיֹּשֵׁ֥ב בְּדַמֶּ֖שֶׂק לֵאמֹֽר׃

KJV ¹⁹ There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

VULC ¹⁹ Fœdus est inter me et te, et inter patrem meum et patrem tuum : ideo misi tibi munera, argentum et aurum : et peto ut venias, et irritum facias fœdus quod habes cum Baasa rege Israël, et recedat a me.

KJV ²⁰ So Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelbethmaachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

VULC ²⁰ Acquiescens Benadad regi Asa, misit principes exercitus sui in civitates Israël, et percusserunt Ahion, et Dan, et Abeldomum Maacha, et universam Cenneroth, omnem scilicet terram Nephthali.

WLC ²⁰ וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע בֶּן־ הֲדַ֜ד אֶל־ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָסָ֗א וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח אֶת־ שָׂרֵ֨י הַחֲיָלִ֤ים אֲשֶׁר־ לוֹ֙ עַל־ עָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּךְ֙ אֶת־ עִיּ֣וֹן וְאֶת־ דָּ֔ן וְאֵ֖ת אָבֵ֣ל בֵּֽית־ מַעֲכָ֑ה וְאֵת֙ כָּל־ כִּנְר֔וֹת עַ֖ל כָּל־ אֶ֥רֶץ נַפְתָּלִֽי׃

KJV ²¹ And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

VULC ²¹ Quod cum audisset Baasa, intermisit ædificare Rama, et reversus est in Thersa.

WLC ²¹ וַֽיְהִי֙ כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ בַּעְשָׁ֔א וַיֶּחְדַּ֕ל מִבְּנ֖וֹת אֶת־ הָֽרָמָ֑ה וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּתִרְצָֽה׃

KJV ²² Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

VULC ²² Rex autem Asa nuntium misit in omnem Judam, dicens : Nemo sit excusatus. Et tulerunt lapides de Rama, et ligna ejus, quibus ædificaverat Baasa, et exstruxit de eis rex Asa Gabaa Benjamin, et Maspha.

WLC ²² וְהַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אָסָ֜א הִשְׁמִ֤יעַ אֶת־ כָּל־ יְהוּדָה֙ אֵ֣ין נָקִ֔י וַיִּשְׂא֞וּ אֶת־ אַבְנֵ֤י הָֽרָמָה֙ וְאֶת־ עֵצֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה בַּעְשָׁ֑א וַיִּ֤בֶן בָּם֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָסָ֔א אֶת־ גֶּ֥בַע בִּנְיָמִ֖ן וְאֶת־ הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃

KJV ²³ The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

VULC ²³ Reliqua autem omnium sermonum Asa, et universæ fortitudines ejus, et cuncta quæ fecit, et civitates quas exstruxit, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Juda ? Verumtamen in tempore senectutis suæ doluit pedes.

WLC ²³ וְיֶ֣תֶר כָּל־ דִּבְרֵֽי־ אָ֠סָא וְכָל־ גְּב֨וּרָת֜וֹ וְכָל־ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֗ה וְהֶֽעָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּנָ֔ה הֲלֹֽא־ הֵ֣מָּה כְתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה רַ֚ק לְעֵ֣ת זִקְנָת֔וֹ חָלָ֖ה אֶת־ רַגְלָֽיו׃

KJV ²⁴ And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

VULC ²⁴ Et dormivit cum patribus suis, et sepultus est cum eis in civitate David patris sui. Regnavitque Josaphat filius ejus pro eo.

WLC ²⁴ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב אָסָא֙ עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵר֙ עִם־ אֲבֹתָ֔יו בְּעִ֖יר דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
