DRB ¹ Et Élie*, le Thishbite, d'entre les habitants de Galaad, dit à Achab : L'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, devant qui je me tiens, est vivant, qu'il n'y aura ces années-ci ni rosée ni pluie, sinon à ma parole.

KJV ¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

DRB ² Et la parole de l'Éternel vint à lui, disant :

KJV ² And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,

DRB ³ Va-t'en d'ici, et tourne-toi vers l'orient, et cache-toi au torrent du Kerith, qui est vers le Jourdain.

KJV ³ Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

DRB ⁴ Et il arrivera que tu boiras du torrent, et j'ai commandé aux corbeaux de te nourrir là.

KJV ⁴ And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

DRB ⁵ Et il s'en alla et fit selon la parole de l'Éternel : il s'en alla et habita au torrent du Kerith, qui est vers le Jourdain.

KJV ⁵ So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

DRB ⁶ Et les corbeaux lui apportaient du pain et de la chair le matin, et du pain et de la chair le soir, et il buvait du torrent.

KJV ⁶ And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

DRB ⁷ Et il arriva, au bout de quelque temps*, que le torrent sécha, car il n'y avait pas de pluie dans le pays.

KJV ⁷ And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
