KJV ⁹ And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

MAR ⁹ Et Jonathan lui dit : A Dieu ne plaise que cela t'arrive ; car si je puis connaître en quelque sorte que la malice de mon père soit venue à son comble pour se décharger sur toi, ne te le ferai-je point savoir ?

VULC ⁹ Et ait Jonathas : Absit hoc a te : neque enim fieri potest, ut si certe cognovero completam esse patris mei malitiam contra te, non annuntiem tibi.

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן חָלִ֣ילָה לָּ֑ךְ כִּ֣י ׀ אִם־ יָדֹ֣עַ אֵדַ֗ע כִּֽי־ כָלְתָ֨ה הָרָעָ֜ה מֵעִ֤ם אָבִי֙ לָב֣וֹא עָלֶ֔יךָ וְלֹ֥א אֹתָ֖הּ אַגִּ֥יד לָֽךְ׃

KJV ¹⁰ Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?

MAR ¹⁰ Et David répondit à Jonathan : Qui me fera entendre quelle réponse fâcheuse t'aura faite ton père ?

VULC ¹⁰ Responditque David ad Jonathan : Quis renuntiabit mihi, si quid forte responderit tibi pater tuus dure de me ?

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל־ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן מִ֖י יַגִּ֣יד לִ֑י א֛וֹ מַה־ יַּעַנְךָ֥ אָבִ֖יךָ קָשָֽׁה׃

KJV ¹¹ And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.

MAR ¹¹ Et Jonathan dit à David : Viens et sortons aux champs. Ils sortirent donc eux deux aux champs.

VULC ¹¹ Et ait Jonathas ad David : Veni, et egrediamur foras in agrum. Cumque exissent ambo in agrum,

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֽוֹנָתָן֙ אֶל־ דָּוִ֔ד לְכָ֖ה וְנֵצֵ֣א הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וַיֵּצְא֥וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

KJV ¹² And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;

MAR ¹² Alors Jonathan dit à David : Ô Eternel ! Dieu d'Israël, quand j'aurai sondé mon père demain, environ cette heure ou après demain, et qu'il y aura du bien pour David, si alors je n'envoie vers toi, et si je ne te le découvre ;

VULC ¹² ait Jonathas ad David : Domine Deus Israël, si investigavero sententiam patris mei crastino vel perendie, et aliquid boni fuerit super David, et non statim misero ad te, et notum tibi fecero,

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹנָתָ֜ן אֶל־ דָּוִ֗ד יְהוָ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּֽי־ אֶחְקֹ֣ר אֶת־ אָבִ֗י כָּעֵ֤ת ׀ מָחָר֙ הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֔ית וְהִנֵּה־ ט֖וֹב אֶל־ דָּוִ֑ד וְלֹֽא־ אָז֙ אֶשְׁלַ֣ח אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְגָלִ֖יתִי אֶת־ אָזְנֶֽךָ׃

KJV ¹³ The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

MAR ¹³ Que l'Eternel fasse ainsi à Jonathan, et ainsi y ajoute ; que si mon père a résolu de te faire du mal, je te le ferai savoir, et je te laisserai aller, et tu t'en iras en paix, et l'Eternel sera avec toi comme il a été avec mon père.

VULC ¹³ hæc faciat Dominus Jonathæ, et hæc addat. Si autem perseveraverit patris mei malitia adversum te, revelabo aurem tuam, et dimittam te, ut vadas in pace, et sit Dominus tecum, sicut fuit cum patre meo.

WLC ¹³ כֹּֽה־ יַעֲשֶׂה֩ יְהוָ֨ה לִֽיהוֹנָתָ֜ן וְכֹ֣ה יֹסִ֗יף כִּֽי־ יֵיטִ֨ב אֶל־ אָבִ֤י אֶת־ הָֽרָעָה֙ עָלֶ֔יךָ וְגָלִ֙יתִי֙ אֶת־ אָזְנֶ֔ךָ וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֖יךָ וְהָלַכְתָּ֣ לְשָׁל֑וֹם וִיהִ֤י יְהוָה֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה עִם־ אָבִֽי׃

KJV ¹⁴ And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:

MAR ¹⁴ Mais n'est-il pas ainsi, que si je suis encore vivant, n'est-il pas, dis-je ainsi, que tu useras envers moi de la gratuité de l'Eternel, en sorte que je ne meure point ?

VULC ¹⁴ Et si vixero, facies mihi misericordiam Domini : si vero mortuus fuero,

WLC ¹⁴ וְלֹ֖א אִם־ עוֹדֶ֣נִּי חָ֑י וְלֹֽא־ תַעֲשֶׂ֧ה עִמָּדִ֛י חֶ֥סֶד יְהוָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א אָמֽוּת׃

KJV ¹⁵ But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.

MAR ¹⁵ Et que tu ne retireras point ta gratuité de ma maison à jamais, non pas même quand l'Eternel retranchera tous les ennemis de David de dessus la terre ?

VULC ¹⁵ non auferes misericordiam tuam a domo mea usque in sempiternum, quando eradicaverit Dominus inimicos David, unumquemque de terra : auferat Jonathan de domo sua, et requirat Dominus de manu inimicorum David.

WLC ¹⁵ וְלֹֽא־ תַכְרִ֧ת אֶֽת־ חַסְדְּךָ֛ מֵעִ֥ם בֵּיתִ֖י עַד־ עוֹלָ֑ם וְלֹ֗א בְּהַכְרִ֤ת יְהוָה֙ אֶת־ אֹיְבֵ֣י דָוִ֔ד אִ֕ישׁ מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁶ So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies.

MAR ¹⁶ Et Jonathan traita [alliance] avec la maison de David, [ en disant] : Que l'Eternel [le] redemande de la main des ennemis de David.

VULC ¹⁶ Pepigit ergo Jonathas fœdus cum domo David : et requisivit Dominus de manu inimicorum David.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן עִם־ בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֑ד וּבִקֵּ֣שׁ יְהוָ֔ה מִיַּ֖ד אֹיְבֵ֥י דָוִֽד׃

KJV ¹⁷ And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

MAR ¹⁷ Jonathan fit encore jurer David par l'amour qu'il lui portait ; car il l'aimait autant que son âme.

VULC ¹⁷ Et addidit Jonathas dejerare David, eo quod diligeret illum : sicut enim animam suam, ita diligebat eum.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיּ֤וֹסֶף יְהֽוֹנָתָן֙ לְהַשְׁבִּ֣יעַ אֶת־ דָּוִ֔ד בְּאַהֲבָת֖וֹ אֹת֑וֹ כִּֽי־ אַהֲבַ֥ת נַפְשׁ֖וֹ אֲהֵבֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁸ Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.

MAR ¹⁸ Puis Jonathan lui dit : C'est demain la nouvelle lune, et on s'informera de toi ; car ta place sera vide.

VULC ¹⁸ Dixitque ad eum Jonathas : Cras calendæ sunt, et requireris :

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ ל֥וֹ יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן מָחָ֣ר חֹ֑דֶשׁ וְנִפְקַ֕דְתָּ כִּ֥י יִפָּקֵ֖ד מוֹשָׁבֶֽךָ׃

KJV ¹⁹ And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.

MAR ¹⁹ Or ayant attendu jusqu'au troisième soir, tu descendras en diligence, et tu viendras au lieu où tu t'étais caché le jour de cette affaire, et tu demeureras auprès de la pierre d'Ezel.

VULC ¹⁹ requiretur enim sessio tua usque perendie. Descendes ergo festinus, et venies in locum ubi celandus es in die qua operari licet, et sedebis juxta lapidem cui nomen est Ezel.

WLC ¹⁹ וְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּ֙ תֵּרֵ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד וּבָאתָ֙ אֶל־ הַמָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁר־ נִסְתַּ֥רְתָּ שָּׁ֖ם בְּי֣וֹם הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֑ה וְיָ֣שַׁבְתָּ֔ אֵ֖צֶל הָאֶ֥בֶן הָאָֽזֶל׃

KJV ²⁰ And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.

MAR ²⁰ Et je tirerai trois flèches à côté de cette pierre, comme si je tirais à quelque but.

VULC ²⁰ Et ego tres sagittas mittam juxta eum, et jaciam quasi exercens me ad signum.

WLC ²⁰ וַאֲנִ֕י שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת הַחִצִּ֖ים צִדָּ֣ה אוֹרֶ֑ה לְשַֽׁלַּֽח־ לִ֖י לְמַטָּרָֽה׃

KJV ²¹ And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as the LORD liveth.

MAR ²¹ Et voici, j'enverrai un garçon, [et je lui dirai] : Va, trouve les flèches. Et si je dis au garçon en termes exprès : Voilà, les flèches sont au deçà de toi, prends-les, et t'en viens ; alors il va bien pour toi ; et il n'y aura rien ; l'Eternel est vivant.

VULC ²¹ Mittam quoque et puerum, dicens ei : Vade, et affer mihi sagittas.

WLC ²¹ וְהִנֵּה֙ אֶשְׁלַ֣ח אֶת־ הַנַּ֔עַר לֵ֖ךְ מְצָ֣א אֶת־ הַחִצִּ֑ים אִם־ אָמֹר֩ אֹמַ֨ר לַנַּ֜עַר הִנֵּ֥ה הַחִצִּ֣ים ׀ מִמְּךָ֣ וָהֵ֗נָּה קָחֶ֧נּוּ ׀ וָבֹ֛אָה כִּֽי־ שָׁל֥וֹם לְךָ֛ וְאֵ֥ין דָּבָ֖ר חַי־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ²² But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.

MAR ²² Mais si je dis ainsi au jeune garçon : Voilà, les flèches sont au delà de toi ; va-t'en, car l'Eternel te renvoie.

VULC ²² Si dixero puero : Ecce sagittæ intra te sunt, tolle eas : tu veni ad me, quia pax tibi est, et nihil est mali, vivit Dominus. Si autem sic locutus fuero puero : Ecce sagittæ ultra te sunt : vade in pace, quia dimisit te Dominus.

WLC ²² וְאִם־ כֹּ֤ה אֹמַר֙ לָעֶ֔לֶם הִנֵּ֥ה הַחִצִּ֖ים מִמְּךָ֣ וָהָ֑לְאָה לֵ֕ךְ כִּ֥י שִֽׁלַּחֲךָ֖ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ²³ And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.

MAR ²³ Et quant à la parole que nous nous sommes donnée toi et moi ; voici, l'Eternel est entre moi et toi à jamais.

VULC ²³ De verbo autem quod locuti sumus ego et tu, sit Dominus inter me et te usque in sempiternum.

WLC ²³ וְהַ֨דָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְנוּ אֲנִ֣י וָאָ֑תָּה הִנֵּ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה בֵּינִ֥י וּבֵינְךָ֖ עַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃
