KJV ² And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

BAN ³ Le nom de cet homme était Nabal, et celui de sa femme Abigaïl ; c'était une femme intelligente et belle, et l'homme était dur et méchant ; et il faisait à sa tête.

KJV ³ Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.

LSG ³ Le nom de cet homme était Nabal, et sa femme s'appelait Abigaïl ; c'était une femme de bon sens et belle de figure, mais l'homme était dur et méchant dans ses actions. Il descendait de Caleb.

BAN ⁴ Et David apprit au désert que Nabal tondait ses brebis.

LSG ⁵ Il envoya vers lui dix jeunes gens, auxquels il dit: Montez à Carmel, et allez auprès de Nabal. Vous le saluerez en mon nom,

BAN ⁶ Et vous lui parlerez ainsi : Bonne vie ! Tu vas bien, ta maison va bien, toutes tes affaires vont bien.

KJV ⁶ And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.

LSG ⁶ et vous lui parlerez ainsi: Pour la vie soit en paix, et que la paix soit avec ta maison et tout ce qui t'appartient !

BAN ⁷ Et maintenant j'ai entendu que tu as les tondeurs. Or tes bergers ont été avec nous, nous ne les avons point molestés et rien du troupeau ne leur a manqué pendant tout le temps qu'ils ont été au Carmel.

KJV ⁷ And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.

LSG ⁷ Et maintenant, j'ai appris que tu as les tondeurs. Or tes bergers ont été avec nous ; nous ne leur avons fait aucun outrage, et rien ne leur a été enlevé pendant tout le temps qu'ils ont été à Carmel.

BAN ⁸ Demande à tes serviteurs et ils te le diront. Que ces jeunes gens trouvent donc grâce à tes yeux, car nous sommes venus en un jour de fête. Donne, je te prie, ce qui se trouvera sous ta main à tes serviteurs et à ton fils David.

KJV ⁸ Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.

LSG ⁸ Demande-le à tes serviteurs, et ils te le diront. Que ces jeunes gens trouvent donc grâce à tes yeux, puisque nous venons dans un jour de joie. Donne donc, je te prie, à tes serviteurs et à ton fils David ce qui se trouvera sous ta main.

BAN ⁹ Et les jeunes gens de David vinrent et dirent à Nabal toutes ces paroles au nom de David et ils attendirent.

KJV ⁹ And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.

LSG ⁹ Lorsque les gens de David furent arrivés, ils répétèrent à Nabal toutes ces paroles, au nom de David. Puis ils se turent.

BAN ¹⁰ Et Nabal répondit aux serviteurs de David et dit : Qui est David, et qui est le fils d'Isaï ? De nos jours ils sont nombreux les serviteurs qui décampent de chez leurs maîtres.

KJV ¹⁰ And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.

LSG ¹⁰ Nabal répondit aux serviteurs de David: Qui est David, et qui est le fils d'Isaï ? Il y a aujourd'hui beaucoup de serviteurs qui s'échappent d'auprès de leurs maîtres.

BAN ¹¹ Et je prendrais mon pain et mon eau et ma viande que j'ai préparés pour mes tondeurs, et je les donnerais à des gens qui viennent je ne sais d'où !

KJV ¹¹ Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?

LSG ¹¹ Et je prendrais mon pain, mon eau, et mon bétail que j'ai tué pour mes tondeurs, et je les donnerais à des gens qui sont je ne sais d'où ?
