KJV ¹ Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

DRB ² Et les Philistins pressèrent fortement Saül et ses fils ; et les Philistins frappèrent Jonathan, et Abinadab, et Malki-Shua, fils de Saül.

KJV ² And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Melchishua, Saul's sons.

VULC ² Irrueruntque Philisthiim in Saul et in filios ejus, et percusserunt Jonathan, et Abinadab, et Melchisua filios Saul :

WLC ² וַיַּדְבְּק֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אֶת־ שָׁא֖וּל וְאֶת־ בָּנָ֑יו וַיַּכּ֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים אֶת־ יְהוֹנָתָ֧ן וְאֶת־ אֲבִינָדָ֛ב וְאֶת־ מַלְכִּי־ שׁ֖וּעַ בְּנֵ֥י שָׁאֽוּל׃

DRB ³ Et la bataille se renforça contre Saül, et les archers l'atteignirent ; et il eut une très grande peur des archers.

KJV ³ And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.

VULC ³ totumque pondus prælii versum est in Saul, et consecuti sunt eum viri sagittarii, et vulneratus est vehementer a sagittariis.

WLC ³ וַתִּכְבַּ֤ד הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ אֶל־ שָׁא֔וּל וַיִּמְצָאֻ֥הוּ הַמּוֹרִ֖ים אֲנָשִׁ֣ים בַּקָּ֑שֶׁת וַיָּ֥חֶל מְאֹ֖ד מֵהַמּוֹרִֽים׃

DRB ⁴ Et Saül dit à celui qui portait ses armes : Tire ton épée et perce-m'en, de peur que ces incirconcis ne viennent et ne me percent, et ne m'outragent. Et celui qui portait ses armes ne voulut pas [le faire], car il avait très peur.

KJV ⁴ Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

VULC ⁴ Dixitque Saul ad armigerum suum : Evagina gladium tuum, et percute me : ne forte veniant incircumcisi isti, et interficiant me, illudentes mihi. Et noluit armiger ejus : fuerat enim nimio terrore perterritus. Arripuit itaque Saul gladium, et irruit super eum.

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁאוּל֩ לְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יו שְׁלֹ֥ף חַרְבְּךָ֣ ׀ וְדָקְרֵ֣נִי בָ֗הּ פֶּן־ יָ֠בוֹאוּ הָעֲרֵלִ֨ים הָאֵ֤לֶּה וּדְקָרֻ֙נִי֙ וְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־ בִ֔י וְלֹ֤א אָבָה֙ נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֔יו כִּ֥י יָרֵ֖א מְאֹ֑ד וַיִּקַּ֤ח שָׁאוּל֙ אֶת־ הַחֶ֔רֶב וַיִּפֹּ֖ל עָלֶֽיהָ׃

DRB ⁵ Et Saül prit son épée et se jeta dessus. Et quand celui qui portait ses armes vit que Saül était mort, il se jeta, lui aussi, sur son épée, et mourut avec lui.

KJV ⁵ And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.

VULC ⁵ Quod cum vidisset armiger ejus, videlicet quod mortuus esset Saul, irruit etiam ipse super gladium suum, et mortuus est cum eo.

WLC ⁵ וַיַּ֥רְא נֹשֵֽׂא־ כֵלָ֖יו כִּ֣י מֵ֣ת שָׁא֑וּל וַיִּפֹּ֥ל גַּם־ ה֛וּא עַל־ חַרְבּ֖וֹ וַיָּ֥מָת עִמּֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁶ Et en ce jour moururent ensemble Saül et ses trois fils, et celui qui portait ses armes, et tous ses hommes.

KJV ⁶ So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.

VULC ⁶ Mortuus est ergo Saul, et tres filii ejus, et armiger illius, et universi viri ejus in die illa pariter.

WLC ⁶ וַיָּ֣מָת שָׁא֡וּל וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת בָּנָיו֩ וְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יו גַּ֧ם כָּל־ אֲנָשָׁ֛יו בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא יַחְדָּֽו׃
