BAN ¹ Et les Philistins ayant pris l'arche de Dieu l'emmenèrent d'Ebénézer à Asdod.

KJV ¹ And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

VULC ¹ Philisthiim autem tulerunt arcam Dei, et asportaverunt eam a lapide Adjutorii in Azotum.

BAN ² Et les Philistins prirent l'arche de Dieu et la firent entrer dans la maison de Dagon et la placèrent auprès de Dagon.

KJV ² When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

VULC ² Tuleruntque Philisthiim arcam Dei, et intulerunt eam in templum Dagon, et statuerunt eam juxta Dagon.

BAN ³ Et le lendemain les Asdodiens trouvèrent, le matin, Dagon tombé par terre sur sa face devant l'arche de l'Eternel ; et ils prirent Dagon et le remirent à sa place.

KJV ³ And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

VULC ³ Cumque surrexissent diluculo Azotii altera die, ecce Dagon jacebat pronus in terra ante arcam Domini : et tulerunt Dagon, et restituerunt eum in locum suum.

BAN ⁴ Et le lendemain matin de bonne heure, ils trouvèrent Dagon tombé par terre sur sa face devant l'arche de l'Eternel ; et la tête de Dagon et ses deux mains gisaient détachées sur le seuil ; il ne lui restait que son corps de poisson.

KJV ⁴ And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

VULC ⁴ Rursumque mane die altera consurgentes, invenerunt Dagon jacentem super faciem suam in terra coram arca Domini : caput autem Dagon, et duæ palmæ manuum ejus abscissæ erant super limen :

BAN ⁵ C'est pour cette raison que les sacrificateurs de Dagon et tous ceux qui entrent dans la maison de Dagon ne posent pas le pied sur le seuil de Dagon à Asdod jusqu'à ce jour.

KJV ⁵ Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

VULC ⁵ porro Dagon solus truncus remanserat in loco suo. Propter hanc causam non calcant sacerdotes Dagon, et omnes qui ingrediuntur templum ejus, super limen Dagon in Azoto, usque in hodiernum diem.
