KJV ¹ And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

WLC ¹ וּפְלִשְׁתִּים֙ לָֽקְח֔וּ אֵ֖ת אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיְבִאֻ֛הוּ מֵאֶ֥בֶן הָעֵ֖זֶר אַשְׁדּֽוֹדָה׃

KJV ² When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

MAR ² Les Philistins donc prirent l'Arche de Dieu, et l'emmenèrent dans la maison de Dagon, et la posèrent auprès de Dagon.

WLC ² וַיִּקְח֤וּ פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ אֶת־ אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיָּבִ֥יאוּ אֹת֖וֹ בֵּ֣ית דָּג֑וֹן וַיַּצִּ֥יגוּ אֹת֖וֹ אֵ֥צֶל דָּגֽוֹן׃

KJV ³ And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

MAR ³ Et le lendemain les Asdodiens s'étant levés de bon matin, voici, Dagon était tombé le visage contre terre, devant l'Arche de l'Eternel ; mais ils prirent Dagon, et le remirent à sa place.

WLC ³ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֤מוּ אַשְׁדּוֹדִים֙ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת וְהִנֵּ֣ה דָג֗וֹן נֹפֵ֤ל לְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָה לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֣וֹן יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּקְחוּ֙ אֶת־ דָּג֔וֹן וַיָּשִׁ֥בוּ אֹת֖וֹ לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁴ And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

MAR ⁴ Ils se levèrent encore le lendemain de bon matin, et voici, Dagon était tombé le visage contre terre, devant l'Arche de l'Eternel ; sa tête et les deux paumes de ses mains coupées, étaient sur le seuil, et le tronc seul de Dagon était demeuré auprès de [l'Arche].

WLC ⁴ וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּ בַבֹּקֶר֮ מִֽמָּחֳרָת֒ וְהִנֵּ֣ה דָג֗וֹן נֹפֵ֤ל לְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָה לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֣וֹן יְהוָ֑ה וְרֹ֨אשׁ דָּג֜וֹן וּשְׁתֵּ֣י ׀ כַּפּ֣וֹת יָדָ֗יו כְּרֻתוֹת֙ אֶל־ הַמִּפְתָּ֔ן רַ֥ק דָּג֖וֹן נִשְׁאַ֥ר עָלָֽיו׃

KJV ⁵ Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

MAR ⁵ C'est pour cela que les Sacrificateurs de Dagon, et tous ceux qui entrent en sa maison, ne marchent point sur le seuil de Dagon à Asdod, jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

WLC ⁵ עַל־ כֵּ֡ן לֹֽא־ יִדְרְכוּ֩ כֹהֲנֵ֨י דָג֜וֹן וְכָֽל־ הַבָּאִ֧ים בֵּית־ דָּג֛וֹן עַל־ מִפְתַּ֥ן דָּג֖וֹן בְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹד עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
