BAN ¹ Dans la vingt-troisième année de Joas, fils d'Achazia, roi de Juda, Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, devint roi sur Israël à Samarie, [et régna] dix-sept ans ;

KJV ² And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

LSG ² Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel ; il commit les mêmes péchés que Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël, et il ne s'en détourna point.

WLC ² וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַ֠יֵּלֶךְ אַחַ֨ר חַטֹּ֜את יָרָבְעָ֧ם בֶּן־ נְבָ֛ט אֲשֶׁר־ הֶחֱטִ֥יא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹא־ סָ֥ר מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

BAN ³ Et la colère de l'Eternel s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les livra à Hazaël, roi de Syrie, et à Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, pendant tout ce temps-là.

KJV ³ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

LSG ³ La colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les livra entre les mains de Hazaël, roi de Syrie, et entre les mains de Ben Hadad, fils de Hazaël, tout le temps que ces rois vécurent.

BAN ⁴ Et Joachaz apaisa l'Eternel, et l'Eternel l'exauça, car il vit l'oppression d'Israël, comment le roi de Syrie les opprimait.

KJV ⁴ And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

LSG ⁴ Joachaz implora l'Éternel. L'Éternel l'exauça, car il vit l'oppression sous laquelle le roi de Syrie tenait Israël,

WLC ⁴ וַיְחַ֥ל יְהוֹאָחָ֖ז אֶת־ פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע אֵלָיו֙ יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֤י רָאָה֙ אֶת־ לַ֣חַץ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּֽי־ לָחַ֥ץ אֹתָ֖ם מֶ֥לֶךְ אֲרָֽם׃

BAN ⁵ Et l'Eternel donna à Israël un libérateur, et les Israélites furent affranchis du joug de la Syrie, et les fils d'Israël habitèrent dans leurs tentes, comme auparavant.

KJV ⁵ (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.

LSG ⁵ et l'Éternel donna un libérateur à Israël. Les enfants d'Israël échappèrent aux mains des Syriens, et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes comme auparavant.

BAN ⁶ Toutefois, ils ne se détournèrent point des péchés de la maison de Jéroboam qui avait fait pécher Israël, ils y persévérèrent et même l'Astarté resta debout à Samarie.

KJV ⁶ Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)

LSG ⁶ Mais ils ne se détournèrent point des péchés de la maison de Jéroboam, qui avait fait pécher Israël ; ils s'y livrèrent aussi, et même l'idole d'Astarté était debout à Samarie.

WLC ⁶ אַ֠ךְ לֹֽא־ סָ֜רוּ מֵחַטֹּ֧אות בֵּית־ יָרָבְעָ֛ם אֲשֶׁר־ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בָּ֣הּ הָלָ֑ךְ וְגַם֙ הָאֲשֵׁרָ֔ה עָמְדָ֖ה בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

BAN ⁷ Car l'Eternel ne laissa à Joachaz en fait de troupe que cinquante cavaliers et dix chariots, et dix mille hommes de pied, car le roi de Syrie avait exterminé les fils d'Israël et les avait réduits à l'état de la poussière qu'on foule aux pieds.

KJV ⁷ Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

BAN ¹⁷ et dit : Ouvre la fenêtre du côté de l'orient. Et il l'ouvrit. Et Elisée dit : Tire. Et il tira ; et Elisée dit : Flèche de victoire de l'Eternel ! Flèche de victoire sur la Syrie ! Et tu frapperas les Syriens à Aphek, jusqu'à en finir.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

KJV ¹⁸ And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

LSG ¹⁸ Élisée dit encore: Prends les flèches. Et il les prit. Élisée dit au roi d'Israël: Frappe contre terre. Et il frappa trois fois, et s'arrêta.

BAN ¹⁹ Et l'homme de Dieu s'irrita contre lui et dit : Il fallait frapper cinq ou six fois ; alors tu aurais battu les Syriens jusqu'à en finir. Mais maintenant tu battras trois fois la Syrie.

KJV ¹⁹ And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

LSG ¹⁹ L'homme de Dieu s'irrita contre lui, et dit: Il fallait frapper cinq ou six fois ; alors tu aurais battu les Syriens jusqu'à leur extermination ; maintenant tu les battras trois fois.

BAN ²⁰ Et Elisée mourut et on l'enterra. Or des bandes de Moabites entrèrent dans le pays au commencement de l'année suivante.

KJV ²⁰ And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

BAN ²¹ Et comme on enterrait un homme, voilà qu'on vit venir une bande et qu'on jeta cet homme dans le sépulcre d'Elisée. Et cet homme alla toucher les os d'Elisée, et il ressuscita et se leva sur ses pieds.

KJV ²¹ And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

LSG ²¹ Et comme on enterrait un homme, voici, on aperçut une de ces troupes, et l'on jeta l'homme dans le sépulcre d'Élisée. L'homme alla toucher les os d'Élisée, et il reprit vie et se leva sur ses pieds.

BAN ²² Et Hazaël, roi de Syrie, avait opprimé Israël pendant tout le règne de Joachaz.

BAN ²³ Mais l'Eternel eut pitié des Israélites et leur fit miséricorde, et il tourna sa face vers eux à cause de son alliance avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et il ne voulut pas les détruire, ni les rejeter loin de sa face jusqu'à maintenant.

KJV ²³ And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

WLC ²⁴ וַיָּ֖מָת חֲזָאֵ֣ל מֶֽלֶךְ־ אֲרָ֑ם וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ בֶּן־ הֲדַ֥ד בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

BAN ²⁵ Et Joas, fils de Joachaz, reprit de la main de Ben-Hadad, fils d'Hazaël, les villes que [celui-ci] avait prises des mains de Joachaz, son père, par la guerre ; et Joas le battit trois fois et recouvra les villes d'Israël.

KJV ²⁵ And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

KJV ⁹ And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

BAN ¹⁰ Tu as battu Edom et ton coeur t'a rendu orgueilleux ; jouis de ta gloire et reste chez toi ! Et pourquoi provoquerais-tu le malheur et succomberais-tu, toi, et Juda avec toi ?

BAN ²⁴ Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel ; il ne se détourna point de tous les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nébat, qui avait fait pécher Israël.

KJV ²⁴ And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

BAN ²⁵ Il rétablit la frontière d'Israël de l'entrée du chemin de Hamath jusqu'à la mer de la Plaine, selon la parole de l'Eternel, Dieu d'Israël, qu'il avait prononcée par son serviteur Jonas, fils d'Amitthaï, le prophète qui était de Gath-Hépher.

KJV ²⁵ He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.

BAN ²⁶ Car l'Eternel avait vu la misère fort amère d'Israël, et [que] c'en était fait des forts et des faibles, et [qu'] il n'y avait personne qui vînt en aide à Israël.

KJV ²⁶ For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

BAN ²⁰ Et Ménahem leva cet argent sur Israël, sur tous les riches, pour le donner au roi d'Assyrie, à raison de cinquante sicles d'argent par homme ; et le roi d'Assyrie s'en retourna et ne s'arrêta pas alors dans le pays.

KJV ²⁰ And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.
