KJV ¹ In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

DRB ² Et il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel ; et il marcha après les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël ; il ne s'en détourna point.

KJV ² And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

MAR ² Et il fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel ; car il suivit les péchés de Jéroboam fils de Nébat, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël, [et] il ne se détourna point d'aucun d'eux.

VULC ² Et fecit malum coram Domino, secutusque est peccata Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël, et non declinavit ab eis.

WLC ² וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַ֠יֵּלֶךְ אַחַ֨ר חַטֹּ֜את יָרָבְעָ֧ם בֶּן־ נְבָ֛ט אֲשֶׁר־ הֶחֱטִ֥יא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹא־ סָ֥ר מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

DRB ³ Et la colère de l'Éternel s'embrasa contre Israël, et il les livra en la main de Hazaël, roi de Syrie, et en la main de Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, tous ces jours-là.

KJV ³ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

MAR ³ Et la colère de l'Eternel s'embrasa contre Israël, qui les livra entre les mains de Hazaël Roi de Syrie, et entre les mains de Ben-hadad fils de Hazaël durant tout ce temps-là.

VULC ³ Iratusque est furor Domini contra Israël, et tradidit eos in manu Hazaël regis Syriæ, et in manu Benadad filii Hazaël, cunctis diebus.

DRB ⁴ (Et Joakhaz implora l'Éternel, et l'Éternel l'écouta, car il vit l'oppression d'Israël, car le roi de Syrie les opprimait.

KJV ⁴ And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

MAR ⁴ Mais Joachaz supplia l'Eternel ; et l'Eternel l'exauça ; parce qu'il vit l'oppression d'Israël, car le Roi de Syrie les opprimait.

VULC ⁴ Deprecatus est autem Joachaz faciem Domini, et audivit eum Dominus : vidit enim angustiam Israël, quia attriverat eos rex Syriæ :

WLC ⁴ וַיְחַ֥ל יְהוֹאָחָ֖ז אֶת־ פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע אֵלָיו֙ יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֤י רָאָה֙ אֶת־ לַ֣חַץ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּֽי־ לָחַ֥ץ אֹתָ֖ם מֶ֥לֶךְ אֲרָֽם׃

DRB ⁵ Et l'Éternel donna à Israël un sauveur, et ils sortirent de dessous la main de la Syrie : et les fils d'Israël habitèrent dans leurs tentes comme auparavant.

KJV ⁵ (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.

MAR ⁵ L'Eternel donc donna un libérateur à Israël, et ils sortirent de dessous la puissance des Syriens ; ainsi les enfants d'Israël habitèrent dans leurs tentes comme auparavant.

VULC ⁵ et dedit Dominus salvatorem Israëli, et liberatus est de manu regis Syriæ : habitaveruntque filii Israël in tabernaculis suis sicut heri et nudiustertius.

DRB ⁶ Toutefois ils ne se détournèrent point des péchés de la maison de Jéroboam, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël ; ils y marchèrent ; et même l'ashère resta à Samarie).

KJV ⁶ Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)

MAR ⁶ Toutefois ils ne se détournèrent point des péchés de la maison de Jéroboam, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël ; mais ils y marchèrent, et même le bocage demeura debout à Samarie.

DRB ⁷ Car il n'avait laissé de peuple à Joakhaz que cinquante cavaliers et dix chars, et dix mille hommes de pied, car le roi de Syrie les avait fait périr, et les avait rendus comme la poussière de l'aire.

KJV ⁷ Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

MAR ⁷ Quoique [Dieu] n'eût laissé d'entre le peuple à Joachaz que cinquante hommes de cheval, dix chariots, et dix mille hommes de pied, et que le Roi de Syrie les eût détruits, et les eût rendus [menus] comme la poudre qu'on foule [dans l'aire].

DRB ⁸ Et le reste des actes de Joakhaz, et tout ce qu'il fit, et sa puissance, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d'Israël ?

KJV ⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

MAR ⁸ Le reste des faits de Joachaz, tout ce, dis-je, qu'il a fait, et ses exploits ne sont-ils pas écrits au Livre des Chroniques des Rois d'Israël ?

VULC ⁸ Reliqua autem sermonum Joachaz, et universa quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël ?

DRB ⁹ Et Joakhaz s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'enterra à Samarie ; et Joas, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ⁹ And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

KJV ¹² And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

DRB ¹⁴ Et Élisée était malade de la maladie dont il mourut ; et Joas, roi d'Israël, descendit vers lui et pleura sur son visage, et dit : Mon père ! mon père ! Char d'Israël et sa cavalerie !

KJV ¹⁴ Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

DRB ¹⁵ Et Élisée lui dit : Prends un arc et des flèches. Et il prit un arc et des flèches.

DRB ¹⁶ Et il dit au roi d'Israël : Mets ta main sur l'arc. Et il y mit sa main. Et Élisée mit ses mains sur les mains du roi,

KJV ¹⁶ And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

MAR ¹⁶ Puis il dit au Roi d'Israël : Mets ta main sur l'arc ; et quand il y eut mis sa main, Elisée mit ses mains sur celles du Roi ;

VULC ¹⁶ dixit ad regem Israël : Pone manum tuam super arcum. Et cum posuisset ille manum suam, superposuit Eliseus manus suas manibus regis,

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל הַרְכֵּ֤ב יָֽדְךָ֙ עַל־ הַקֶּ֔שֶׁת וַיַּרְכֵּ֖ב יָד֑וֹ וַיָּ֧שֶׂם אֱלִישָׁ֛ע יָדָ֖יו עַל־ יְדֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

DRB ¹⁷ et dit : Ouvre la fenêtre vers l'orient. Et il l'ouvrit. Et Élisée dit : Tire ! Et il tira. Et il dit : Une flèche de salut de par l'Éternel, une flèche de salut contre les Syriens ; et tu battras les Syriens à Aphek, jusqu'à les détruire.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

MAR ¹⁷ Et lui dit : Ouvre la fenêtre qui regarde vers l'Orient ; et quand il l'eut ouverte, Elisée lui dit : Tire. Après qu'il eut tiré, il lui dit : C'est la flèche de la délivrance de par l'Eternel, la flèche, dis-je, de la délivrance contre les Syriens ; tu frapperas donc les Syriens en Aphek, jusqu'à les consumer.

VULC ¹⁷ et ait : Aperi fenestram orientalem. Cumque aperuisset, dixit Eliseus : Jace sagittam. Et jecit. Et ait Eliseus : Sagitta salutis Domini, et sagitta salutis contra Syriam : percutiesque Syriam in Aphec, donec consumas eam.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר פְּתַ֧ח הַחַלּ֛וֹן קֵ֖דְמָה וַיִּפְתָּ֑ח וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֤ע יְרֵה֙ וַיּ֔וֹר וַיֹּ֗אמֶר חֵץ־ תְּשׁוּעָ֤ה לַֽיהוָה֙ וְחֵ֣ץ תְּשׁוּעָ֣ה בַֽאֲרָ֔ם וְהִכִּיתָ֧ אֶת־ אֲרָ֛ם בַּאֲפֵ֖ק עַד־ כַּלֵּֽה׃

DRB ¹⁸ Et il dit : Prends les flèches. Et il les prit. Et il dit au roi d'Israël : Frappe contre terre. Et il frappa trois fois, et s'arrêta.

KJV ¹⁸ And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

MAR ¹⁸ Il lui dit encore : Prends des flèches ; et quand il les eut prises, il dit au Roi d'Israël : Frappe contre terre ; et le Roi frappa trois fois, puis il s'arrêta.

VULC ¹⁸ Et ait : Tolle sagittas. Qui cum tulisset, rursum dixit ei : Percute jaculo terram. Et cum percussisset tribus vicibus, et stetisset,

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּ֛אמֶר קַ֥ח הַחִצִּ֖ים וַיִּקָּ֑ח וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לְמֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַךְ־ אַ֔רְצָה וַיַּ֥ךְ שָֽׁלֹשׁ־ פְּעָמִ֖ים וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃

DRB ¹⁹ Et l'homme de Dieu se mit en colère contre lui, et dit : [Il fallait] frapper cinq ou six fois, alors tu eusses battu les Syriens jusqu'à les détruire ; mais maintenant tu ne battras les Syriens que trois fois.

KJV ¹⁹ And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

MAR ¹⁹ Et l'homme de Dieu se mit en fort grande colère contre lui, et lui dit : Il fallait frapper cinq ou six fois ; et tu eusses frappé les Syriens jusqu'à les consumer ; mais maintenant tu ne les frapperas que trois fois.

VULC ¹⁹ iratus est vir Dei contra eum, et ait : Si percussisses quinquies, aut sexies, sive septies, percussisses Syriam usque ad consumptionem : nunc autem tribus vicibus percuties eam.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּקְצֹ֨ף עָלָ֜יו אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְהַכּ֨וֹת חָמֵ֤שׁ אוֹ־ שֵׁשׁ֙ פְּעָמִ֔ים אָ֛ז הִכִּ֥יתָ אֶת־ אֲרָ֖ם עַד־ כַּלֵּ֑ה וְעַתָּ֕ה שָׁלֹ֥שׁ פְּעָמִ֖ים תַּכֶּ֥ה אֶת־ אֲרָֽם׃

DRB ²⁰ Et Élisée mourut, et on l'enterra. Et des troupes de Moab entrèrent dans le pays au commencement de l'année suivante.

KJV ²⁰ And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

WLC ²⁰ וַיָּ֥מָת אֱלִישָׁ֖ע וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֑הוּ וּגְדוּדֵ֥י מוֹאָ֛ב יָבֹ֥אוּ בָאָ֖רֶץ בָּ֥א שָׁנָֽה׃

DRB ²¹ Et il arriva que, comme on enterrait un homme, voici, on vit [venir] la troupe, et on jeta l'homme dans le sépulcre d'Élisée. Et l'homme alla toucher les os d'Élisée, et il reprit vie, et se leva sur ses pieds.

KJV ²¹ And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

DRB ²² Et Hazaël, roi de Syrie, opprima Israël tous les jours de Joakhaz.

KJV ²² But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

DRB ²³ Et l'Éternel usa de grâce envers eux, et eut compassion d'eux, et se tourna vers eux, à cause de son alliance avec Abraham, Isaac, et Jacob ; et il ne voulut pas les détruire, et il ne les rejeta pas de devant sa face, dans ce temps-là*.

KJV ²³ And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

DRB ²⁴ Et Hazaël, roi de Syrie, mourut ; et Ben-Hadad, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ²⁴ So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.

DRB ²⁵ Et Joas, fils de Joakhaz, reprit des mains de Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, les villes que celui-ci avait prises, dans la guerre, des mains de Joakhaz, son père. Joas le battit trois fois, et recouvra les villes d'Israël.

KJV ²⁵ And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

DRB ⁴ seulement, les hauts lieux ne furent pas ôtés : le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait fumer de l'encens sur les hauts lieux.

KJV ⁴ Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.

DRB ⁵ Et il arriva que, quand la royauté fut affermie dans sa main, il fit mourir* ses serviteurs qui avaient frappé le roi, son père.

KJV ⁵ And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.

KJV ⁶ But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

KJV ⁷ He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.

DRB ⁸ Alors Amatsia envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joakhaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, disant : Viens, voyons-nous face à face.

KJV ⁸ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

KJV ⁹ And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

DRB ¹⁰ Tu as bien frappé Édom, et ton cœur s'est élevé. Glorifie-toi, et reste dans ta maison ; pourquoi te mettrais-tu aux prises avec le malheur, et tomberais-tu, toi, et Juda avec toi ?

KJV ¹⁰ Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

MAR ¹⁰ [Parce que] tu as rudement frappé Edom, ton coeur s'est élevé. Contente-toi de ta gloire, et tiens-toi dans ta maison ; pourquoi exciterais-tu le mal par lequel tu tomberas, toi et Juda avec toi ?

DRB ¹¹ Et Amatsia n'écouta pas ; et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta ; et ils se virent face à face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth-Shémesh, qui est à Juda.

KJV ¹¹ But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

DRB ¹² Et Juda fut battu devant Israël ; et ils s'enfuirent, chacun dans sa tente.

KJV ¹³ And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

DRB ¹⁴ et prit tout l'or et l'argent et tous les ustensiles qui furent trouvés dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et des otages ; et il s'en retourna à Samarie.

KJV ¹⁴ And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

DRB ¹⁵ Et le reste des actes de Joas, ce qu'il fit, et sa puissance, et comment il fit la guerre contre Amatsia, roi de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d'Israël ?

DRB ¹⁶ Et Joas s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré à Samarie avec les rois d'Israël ; et Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ¹⁶ And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

KJV ¹⁷ And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

DRB ¹⁹ Et on fit une conspiration contre lui à Jérusalem, et il s'enfuit à Lakis ; et on envoya après lui à Lakis, et là on le mit à mort.

KJV ²¹ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

KJV ²³ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

DRB ²⁴ Et il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel ; il ne se détourna d'aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël.

KJV ²⁴ And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

DRB ²⁵ Il rétablit la frontière d'Israël, depuis l'entrée de Hamath jusqu'à la mer de la plaine*, selon la parole de l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, qu'il avait dite par son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d'Amitthaï, qui était de Gath-Hépher.

KJV ²⁵ He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.

DRB ²⁶ Car l'Éternel vit que l'affliction d'Israël était très amère, et qu'il n'y avait plus personne, homme lié ou homme libre, et qu'il n'y avait personne qui secourût Israël ;

KJV ²⁶ For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

DRB ²⁷ et l'Éternel n'avait pas dit qu'il effacerait le nom d'Israël de dessous les cieux ; et il les sauva par la main de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.

KJV ²⁷ And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

KJV ²⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

KJV ² Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

KJV ⁴ Save that the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burnt incense still on the high places.

DRB ⁵ Et l'Éternel frappa le roi, et il fut lépreux jusqu'au jour de sa mort, et il habita dans une maison d'isolement ; et Jotham, fils du roi, fut chef de* la maison [du roi], jugeant le peuple du pays.

KJV ⁵ And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house. And Jotham the king's son was over the house, judging the people of the land.

WLC ⁸ בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּשְׁמֹנֶה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה לַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ זְכַרְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־ יָרָבְעָ֧ם עַל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן שִׁשָּׁ֥ה חֳדָשִֽׁים׃

DRB ⁹ Et il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel, selon ce que ses pères avaient fait : il ne se détourna pas des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël.

KJV ⁹ And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

DRB ¹⁰ Et Shallum, fils de Jabesh, conspira contre lui, et le frappa devant le peuple, et le fit mourir ; et il régna à sa place.

KJV ¹⁰ And Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and smote him before the people, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

WLC ¹¹ וְיֶ֖תֶר דִּבְרֵ֣י זְכַרְיָ֑ה הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

DRB ¹² C'est là la parole de l'Éternel qu'il avait adressée* à Jéhu, disant : Tes fils seront assis sur le trône d'Israël, jusqu'à la quatrième génération. Et il en fut ainsi.

KJV ¹² This was the word of the LORD which he spake unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it came to pass.

DRB ¹³ Shallum, fils de Jabesh, commença de régner la trente-neuvième année d'Ozias, roi de Juda : et il régna un mois entier à Samarie.

KJV ¹³ Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the nine and thirtieth year of Uzziah king of Judah; and he reigned a full month in Samaria.

KJV ¹⁴ For Menahem the son of Gadi went up from Tirzah, and came to Samaria, and smote Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samaria, and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

DRB ¹⁶ Alors Menahem frappa Thiphsakh, et tout ce qui y était, et son territoire, depuis Thirtsa, parce qu'on ne [lui] avait pas ouvert ; et il la frappa, et y fendit le ventre à toutes les femmes enceintes.

KJV ¹⁶ Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

DRB ¹⁹ Pul, roi d'Assyrie*, vint contre le pays ; et Menahem donna à Pul mille talents d'argent, pour que sa main fût avec lui pour affermir le royaume dans sa main.

KJV ¹⁹ And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

DRB ²⁰ Et Menahem leva l'argent sur Israël, sur tous ceux qui avaient de la fortune, pour le donner au roi d'Assyrie : de chacun cinquante sicles d'argent. Et le roi d'Assyrie s'en retourna, et ne resta pas là dans le pays.

KJV ²⁰ And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.

KJV ²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

DRB ³⁰ Et Osée, fils d'Éla, fit une conspiration contre Pékakh, fils de Remalia, et le frappa, et le mit à mort ; et il régna à sa place, la vingtième année de Jotham, fils d'Ozias.

KJV ³⁰ And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and smote him, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

DRB ³¹ Et le reste des actes de Pékakh, et tout ce qu'il fit, voici, cela est écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d'Israël.

KJV ³¹ And the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

DRB ³² La seconde année de Pékakh, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, Jotham, fils d'Ozias, roi de Juda, commença de régner. *

KJV ³² In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.

DRB ³³ Il était âgé de vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il commença de régner ; et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem ; et le nom de sa mère était Jerusha, fille de Tsadok.

KJV ³³ Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

DRB ³⁴ Et il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, il fit selon tout ce qu'avait fait Ozias, son père ;

KJV ³⁴ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

WLC ³⁴ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כְּכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־ עָשָׂ֛ה עֻזִיָּ֥הוּ אָבִ֖יו עָשָֽׂה׃

DRB ³⁵ seulement les hauts lieux ne furent pas ôtés ; le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait fumer de l'encens sur les hauts lieux. Ce fut lui qui bâtit la porte supérieure de la maison de l'Éternel.

KJV ³⁵ Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.

MAR ³⁵ De sorte qu'il n'y eut que les hauts lieux qui ne furent point ôtés, le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait des encensements dans les hauts lieux ; ce fut lui qui bâtit la plus haute porte de la maison de l'Eternel.

VULC ³⁵ Verumtamen excelsa non abstulit : adhuc populus immolabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis. Ipse ædificavit portam domus Domini sublimissimam.

WLC ³⁵ רַ֤ק הַבָּמוֹת֙ לֹ֣א סָ֔רוּ ע֗וֹד הָעָ֛ם מְזַבְּחִ֥ים וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים בַּבָּמ֑וֹת ה֗וּא בָּנָ֛ה אֶת־ שַׁ֥עַר בֵּית־ יְהוָ֖ה הָעֶלְיֽוֹן׃

DRB ³⁶ Et le reste des actes de Jotham, et tout ce qu'il fit, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Juda ?

KJV ³⁶ Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

DRB ³⁷ En ces jours-là, l'Éternel commença d'envoyer contre Juda Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékakh, fils de Remalia.

KJV ³⁷ In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.

DRB ³⁸ Et Jotham s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père ; et Achaz, son fils, régna à sa place.

KJV ³⁸ And Jotham slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
