BCC ⁸ Un jour Élisée passait par Sunam. Il y avait là une femme riche, qui le pressa d'accepter à manger ; et toutes les fois qu'il passait, il se rendait chez elle pour manger.

KJV ⁸ And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.

VULC ⁸ Facta est autem quædam dies, et transibat Eliseus per Sunam : erat autem ibi mulier magna, quæ tenuit eum ut comederet panem : cumque frequenter inde transiret, divertebat ad eam ut comederet panem.

WLC ⁸ וַיְהִ֨י הַיּ֜וֹם וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ר אֱלִישָׁ֣ע אֶל־ שׁוּנֵ֗ם וְשָׁם֙ אִשָּׁ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה וַתַּחֲזֶק־ בּ֖וֹ לֶאֱכָל־ לָ֑חֶם וַֽיְהִי֙ מִדֵּ֣י עָבְר֔וֹ יָסֻ֥ר שָׁ֖מָּה לֶאֱכָל־ לָֽחֶם׃

BCC ⁹ Elle dit à son mari : "voici, je sais que c'est un saint homme de Dieu, qui passe ainsi souvent chez nous.

KJV ⁹ And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.

VULC ⁹ Quæ dixit ad virum suum : Animadverto quod vir Dei sanctus est iste, qui transit per nos frequenter.

WLC ⁹ וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־ אִישָׁ֔הּ הִנֵּה־ נָ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ אֱלֹהִ֖ים קָד֣וֹשׁ ה֑וּא עֹבֵ֥ר עָלֵ֖ינוּ תָּמִֽיד׃

BCC ¹⁰ Faisons-lui une petite chambre haute contre le mur, et mettons-y pour lui un lit, une table, un siège et un chandelier, afin qu'il s'y retire quand il viendra chez nous."

KJV ¹⁰ Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.

VULC ¹⁰ Faciamus ergo ei cœnaculum parvum, et ponamus ei in eo lectulum, et mensam, et sellam, et candelabrum, ut cum venerit ad nos, maneat ibi.

WLC ¹⁰ נַֽעֲשֶׂה־ נָּ֤א עֲלִיַּת־ קִיר֙ קְטַנָּ֔ה וְנָשִׂ֨ים ל֥וֹ שָׁ֛ם מִטָּ֥ה וְשֻׁלְחָ֖ן וְכִסֵּ֣א וּמְנוֹרָ֑ה וְהָיָ֛ה בְּבֹא֥וֹ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ יָס֥וּר שָֽׁמָּה׃

BCC ¹¹ Élisée, étant revenu un autre jour à Sunam, se retira dans la chambre haute et y coucha.

KJV ¹¹ And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.

BCC ¹² Il dit à Giézi, son serviteur : "appelle cette Sunamite." Giézi l'appela, et elle se présenta devant lui.

KJV ¹² And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.

VULC ¹² Dixitque ad Giezi puerum suum : Voca Sunamitidem istam. Qui cum vocasset eam, et illa stetisset coram eo,

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־ גֵּחֲזִ֣י נַעֲר֔וֹ קְרָ֖א לַשּׁוּנַמִּ֣ית הַזֹּ֑את וַיִּקְרָא־ לָ֔הּ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד לְפָנָֽיו׃

BCC ¹³ Et Élisée dit à Giézi : "Dis-lui : Voici que tu nous a témoigné toute cette sollicitude : que peut-on faire pour toi ? Faut-il parler pour toi au roi ou au chef de l'armée ?" Elle répondit à Giézi : "J'habite au milieu de mon peuple."

KJV ¹³ And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.

VULC ¹³ dixit ad puerum suum : Loquere ad eam : Ecce, sedule in omnibus ministrasti nobis : quid vis ut faciam tibi ? numquid habes negotium, et vis ut loquar regi, sive principi militiæ ? Quæ respondit : In medio populi mei habito.

BCC ¹⁴ Et Élisée dit : "Que faire pour elle ?" Giézi répondit : "mais elle n'a point de fils, et son mari est vieux."

KJV ¹⁴ And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.

VULC ¹⁴ Et ait : Quid ergo vult ut faciam ei ? Dixitque Giezi : Ne quæras : filium enim non habet, et vir ejus senex est.

BCC ¹⁵ Et Élisée dit : "appelle-la." Giézi l'appela, et elle se tint à la porte.

KJV ¹⁵ And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.

BCC ¹⁶ Et Élisée lui dit : "à cette même époque, dans un an, tu caresseras un fils." Et elle dit : "Non, mon seigneur, homme de Dieu, ne trompe pas ta servante."

KJV ¹⁶ And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.

VULC ¹⁶ dixit ad eam : In tempore isto, et in hac eadem hora, si vita comes fuerit, habebis in utero filium. At illa respondit : Noli quæso, domine mi vir Dei, noli mentiri ancillæ tuæ.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לַמּוֹעֵ֤ד הַזֶּה֙ כָּעֵ֣ת חַיָּ֔ה חֹבֶ֣קֶת בֵּ֑ן וַתֹּ֗אמֶר אַל־ אֲדֹנִי֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אַל־ תְּכַזֵּ֖ב בְּשִׁפְחָתֶֽךָ׃

BCC ¹⁷ Et la femme conçut, et elle enfanta un fils, à la même époque, l'année suivante, comme Élisée le lui avait dit.

KJV ¹⁷ And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

VULC ¹⁷ Et concepit mulier, et peperit filium in tempore, et in hora eadem, qua dixerat Eliseus.
