BAN ¹³ Et on vint l'annoncer à David, en disant : Le coeur des hommes d'Israël s'est tourné vers Absalom.

KJV ¹³ And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

VULC ¹³ Venit igitur nuntius ad David, dicens : Toto corde universus Israël sequitur Absalom.

WLC ¹³ וַיָּבֹא֙ הַמַּגִּ֔יד אֶל־ דָּוִ֖ד לֵאמֹ֑ר הָיָ֛ה לֶב־ אִ֥ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et David dit à tous ses serviteurs qui étaient avec lui à Jérusalem : Levez-vous, fuyons, car il n'y a pas moyen pour nous d'échapper à Absalom. Hâtez-vous de partir, de peur qu'il ne nous surprenne et qu'il ne nous accable de maux et ne fasse passer les habitants de la ville au fil de l'épée.

KJV ¹⁴ And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּ֠וִד לְכָל־ עֲבָדָ֨יו אֲשֶׁר־ אִתּ֤וֹ בִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ ק֣וּמוּ וְנִבְרָ֔חָה כִּ֛י לֹא־ תִֽהְיֶה־ לָּ֥נוּ פְלֵיטָ֖ה מִפְּנֵ֣י אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם מַהֲר֣וּ לָלֶ֗כֶת פֶּן־ יְמַהֵ֤ר וְהִשִּׂגָ֙נוּ֙ וְהִדִּ֤יחַ עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ אֶת־ הָ֣רָעָ֔ה וְהִכָּ֥ה הָעִ֖יר לְפִי־ חָֽרֶב׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et les serviteurs du roi dirent au roi : Quelque parti que prenne mon seigneur le roi, voici tes serviteurs !

KJV ¹⁵ And the king's servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants are ready to do whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint.

VULC ¹⁵ Dixeruntque servi regis ad eum : Omnia quæcumque præceperit dominus noster rex, libenter exequemur servi tui.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ עַבְדֵֽי־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ כְּכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־ יִבְחַ֛ר אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ הִנֵּ֥ה עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃

BAN ¹⁶ Et le roi partit et toute sa maison le suivit ; et le roi laissa dix concubines pour veiller sur la maison.

KJV ¹⁶ And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, which were concubines, to keep the house.

VULC ¹⁶ Egressus est ergo rex et universa domus ejus pedibus suis : et dereliquit rex decem mulieres concubinas ad custodiendam domum.

BAN ¹⁷ Et le roi partit et tout le peuple le suivait, et ils s'arrêtèrent à la dernière maison.

KJV ¹⁷ And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.

VULC ¹⁷ Egressusque rex et omnis Israël pedibus suis, stetit procul a domo :

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֵּצֵ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְכָל־ הָעָ֖ם בְּרַגְלָ֑יו וַיַּעַמְד֖וּ בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּרְחָֽק׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et tous ses serviteurs marchaient à côté de lui, ainsi que tous les Kéréthiens et tous les Péléthiens ; tandis que tous les Guitthiens, au nombre de six cents hommes, qui l'avaient suivi depuis Gath, marchaient devant le roi.

KJV ¹⁸ And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

BAN ¹⁹ Et le roi dit à Itthaï le Guitthien : Pourquoi viendrais-tu, toi aussi, avec nous ? Retourne et reste avec le roi, car tu es un étranger et même sans domicile.

KJV ¹⁹ Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou art a stranger, and also an exile.

VULC ¹⁹ Dixit autem rex ad Ethai Gethæum : Cur venis nobiscum ? revertere, et habita cum rege, quia peregrinus es, et egressus es de loco tuo.

BAN ²⁰ Tu es arrivé d'hier, et aujourd'hui je te ferais errer avec nous au hasard ? Moi-même je vais je ne sais où. Retourne, et emmène tes frères avec toi ! Grâce et fidélité [sur toi] !

KJV ²⁰ Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.

VULC ²⁰ Heri venisti, et hodie compelleris nobiscum egredi ? ego autem vadam quo iturus sum : revertere, et reduc tecum fratres tuos, et Dominus faciet tecum misericordiam et veritatem, quia ostendisti gratiam et fidem.

BAN ²¹ Et Itthaï répondit au roi et dit : L'Eternel est vivant et mon seigneur le roi est vivant ! là où sera mon seigneur le roi, soit pour mourir, soit pour vivre là aussi sera ton serviteur.

KJV ²¹ And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

VULC ²¹ Et respondit Ethai regi dicens : Vivit Dominus, et vivit dominus meus rex, quoniam in quocumque loco fueris, domine mi rex, sive in morte, sive in vita, ibi erit servus tuus.

BAN ²² Et David dit à Itthaï : Va et passe ! Et Itthaï le Guitthien passa avec tous ses hommes et tous les petits enfants qui étaient avec lui.

KJV ²² And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.

VULC ²² Et ait David Ethai : Veni, et transi. Et transivit Ethai Gethæus, et omnes viri qui cum eo erant, et reliqua multitudo.

BAN ²³ Et tout le pays pleurait à haute voix à mesure que la troupe passait, et le roi passa le torrent du Cédron avec toute la troupe, prenant le chemin du désert.

KJV ²³ And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

VULC ²³ Omnesque flebant voce magna, et universus populus transibat : rex quoque transgrediebatur torrentem Cedron, et cunctus populus incedebat contra viam quæ respicit ad desertum.

BAN ²⁴ Et voici Tsadok aussi était là, et avec lui tous les lévites portant l'arche de l'alliance de Dieu ; et ils déposèrent l'arche de Dieu tandis qu'Abiathar montait, et jusqu'à ce que tout le peuple eut achevé de sortir de la ville.

KJV ²⁴ And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.

VULC ²⁴ Venit autem et Sadoc sacerdos, et universi Levitæ cum eo, portantes arcam fœderis Dei : et deposuerunt arcam Dei. Et ascendit Abiathar, donec expletus esset omnis populus qui egressus fuerat de civitate.

BAN ²⁵ Et le roi dit à Tsadok : Reporte l'arche de Dieu dans la ville. Si je trouve grâce aux yeux de l'Eternel, il me ramènera et me fera revoir l'arche et sa demeure.

KJV ²⁵ And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:

VULC ²⁵ Et dixit rex ad Sadoc : Reporta arcam Dei in urbem : si invenero gratiam in oculis Domini, reducet me, et ostendet mihi eam, et tabernaculum suum.

BAN ²⁶ Et s'il me dit : Je ne prends point plaisir en toi, me voici ; qu'il me fasse selon qu'il le trouvera bon !

KJV ²⁶ But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.

VULC ²⁶ Si autem dixerit mihi : Non places : præsto sum : faciat quod bonum est coram se.

WLC ²⁶ וְאִם֙ כֹּ֣ה יֹאמַ֔ר לֹ֥א חָפַ֖צְתִּי בָּ֑ךְ הִנְנִ֕י יַֽעֲשֶׂה־ לִּ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר ט֖וֹב בְּעֵינָֽיו׃

BAN ²⁷ Et le roi dit à Tsadok le sacrificateur : Vois-tu, toi ? Retourne en paix dans la ville, et ton fils Ahimaats et Jonathan, fils d'Abiathar, vos deux fils, avec vous.

KJV ²⁷ The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

VULC ²⁷ Et dixit rex ad Sadoc sacerdotem : O videns, revertere in civitatem in pace : et Achimaas filius tuus, et Jonathas filius Abiathar, duo filii vestri, sint vobiscum.

BAN ²⁸ Voyez ; moi j'attendrai aux gués du désert jusqu'à ce qu'il m'arrive un avis de votre part.

KJV ²⁸ See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me.

VULC ²⁸ Ecce ego abscondar in campestribus deserti, donec veniat sermo a vobis indicans mihi.

BAN ²⁹ Et Tsadok et Abiathar reportèrent l'arche de Dieu à Jérusalem et y restèrent.

KJV ²⁹ Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.

VULC ²⁹ Reportaverunt ergo Sadoc et Abiathar arcam Dei in Jerusalem, et manserunt ibi.

BAN ³⁰ Et David gravissait la montée des Oliviers, montant et pleurant, la tête voilée, et il marchait nu-pieds ; et tout le peuple qui était avec lui avait la tête couverte et ils montaient en pleurant

KJV ³⁰ And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

VULC ³⁰ Porro David ascendebat clivum Olivarum, scandens et flens, nudis pedibus incedens, et operto capite : sed et omnis populus qui erat cum eo, operto capite ascendebat plorans.

WLC ³⁰ וְדָוִ֡ד עֹלֶה֩ בְמַעֲלֵ֨ה הַזֵּיתִ֜ים עֹלֶ֣ה ׀ וּבוֹכֶ֗ה וְרֹ֥אשׁ לוֹ֙ חָפ֔וּי וְה֖וּא הֹלֵ֣ךְ יָחֵ֑ף וְכָל־ הָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר־ אִתּ֗וֹ חָפוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ רֹאשׁ֔וֹ וְעָל֥וּ עָלֹ֖ה וּבָכֹֽה׃

BAN ³¹ Et on vint dire à David : Ahithophel est parmi les conjurés avec Absalom. Et David dit : Eternel ! rends vains les conseils d'Ahithophel !

KJV ³¹ And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

VULC ³¹ Nuntiatum est autem David quod et Achitophel esset in conjuratione cum Absalom : dixitque David : Infatua, quæso, Domine, consilium Achitophel.

WLC ³¹ וְדָוִד֙ הִגִּ֣יד לֵאמֹ֔ר אֲחִיתֹ֥פֶל בַּקֹּשְׁרִ֖ים עִם־ אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔ד סַכֶּל־ נָ֛א אֶת־ עֲצַ֥ת אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ³² Et lorsque David fut arrivé au sommet où on adore Dieu, voici Chusaï l'Archite vint au-devant de lui, la tunique déchirée et la tête couverte de poussière.

KJV ³² And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

VULC ³² Cumque ascenderet David summitatem montis in quo adoraturus erat Dominum, ecce occurrit ei Chusai Arachites, scissa veste, et terra pleno capite.

WLC ³² וַיְהִ֤י דָוִד֙ בָּ֣א עַד־ הָרֹ֔אשׁ אֲשֶֽׁר־ יִשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה שָׁ֖ם לֵאלֹהִ֑ים וְהִנֵּ֤ה לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ חוּשַׁ֣י הָאַרְכִּ֔י קָר֙וּעַ֙ כֻּתָּנְתּ֔וֹ וַאֲדָמָ֖ה עַל־ רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃

BAN ³³ Et David lui dit : Si tu passes avec moi, tu me seras à charge.

KJV ³³ Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

VULC ³³ Et dixit ei David : Si veneris mecum, eris mihi oneri :

WLC ³³ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ דָּוִ֑ד אִ֚ם עָבַ֣רְתָּ אִתִּ֔י וְהָיִ֥תָ עָלַ֖י לְמַשָּֽׂא׃

BAN ³⁴ Mais si tu retournes à la ville et que tu dises à Absalom : Je veux être ton serviteur, ô roi ! J'ai été jusqu'ici le serviteur de ton père, et maintenant je veux être le tien ; tu déjoueras en ma faveur les conseils d'Ahithophel.

KJV ³⁴ But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

VULC ³⁴ si autem in civitatem revertaris, et dixeris Absalom : Servus tuus sum, rex : sicut fui servus patris tui, sic ero servus tuus : dissipabis consilium Achitophel.

WLC ³⁴ וְאִם־ הָעִ֣יר תָּשׁ֗וּב וְאָמַרְתָּ֤ לְאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ עַבְדְּךָ֨ אֲנִ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֶֽהְיֶ֔ה עֶ֣בֶד אָבִ֤יךָ וַֽאֲנִי֙ מֵאָ֔ז וְעַתָּ֖ה וַאֲנִ֣י עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וְהֵפַרְתָּ֣ה לִ֔י אֵ֖ת עֲצַ֥ת אֲחִיתֹֽפֶל׃

BAN ³⁵ Et les sacrificateurs Tsadok et Abiathar ne seront-ils pas là avec toi ? Tout ce que tu apprendras de la maison du roi, tu le feras savoir aux sacrificateurs Tsadok et Abiathar.

KJV ³⁵ And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

VULC ³⁵ Habes autem tecum Sadoc et Abiathar sacerdotes : et omne verbum quodcumque audieris de domo regis, indicabis Sadoc et Abiathar sacerdotibus.

WLC ³⁵ וַהֲל֤וֹא עִמְּךָ֙ שָׁ֔ם צָד֥וֹק וְאֶבְיָתָ֖ר הַכֹּהֲנִ֑ים וְהָיָ֗ה כָּל־ הַדָּבָר֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּשְׁמַע֙ מִבֵּ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ תַּגִּ֕יד לְצָד֥וֹק וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֖ר הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃

BAN ³⁶ Voici, il y a là avec eux leurs deux fils, Ahimaats, fils de Tsadok, et Jonathan, fils d'Abiathar ; vous me transmettrez par eux tout ce que vous aurez appris.

KJV ³⁶ Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok's son, and Jonathan Abiathar's son; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can hear.

VULC ³⁶ Sunt autem cum eis duo filii eorum Achimaas filius Sadoc, et Jonathas filius Abiathar : et mittetis per eos ad me omne verbum quod audieritis.

BAN ³⁷ Et Chusaï, l'ami de David, vint dans la ville ; et Absalom vint à Jérusalem.

KJV ³⁷ So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

VULC ³⁷ Veniente ergo Chusai amico David in civitatem, Absalom quoque ingressus est Jerusalem.

WLC ³⁷ וַיָּבֹ֥א חוּשַׁ֛י רֵעֶ֥ה דָוִ֖ד הָעִ֑יר וְאַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם יָבֹ֖א יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ¹ Et quand David eut un peu dépassé le sommet, voici Tsiba, serviteur de Méphiboseth, vint au-devant de lui avec deux ânes bâtés et chargés de deux cents pains, de cent gâteaux de raisins secs, de cent gâteaux de fruits d'été et d'une outre de vin.

KJV ¹ And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

VULC ¹ Cumque David transisset paululum montis verticem, apparuit Siba puer Miphiboseth in occursum ejus, cum duobus asinis, qui onerati erant ducentis panibus, et centum alligaturis uvæ passæ, et centum massis palatharum, et utre vini.

WLC ¹ וְדָוִ֗ד עָבַ֤ר מְעַט֙ מֵֽהָרֹ֔אשׁ וְהִנֵּ֥ה צִיבָ֛א נַ֥עַר מְפִי־ בֹ֖שֶׁת לִקְרָאת֑וֹ וְצֶ֨מֶד חֲמֹרִ֜ים חֲבֻשִׁ֗ים וַעֲלֵיהֶם֩ מָאתַ֨יִם לֶ֜חֶם וּמֵאָ֧ה צִמּוּקִ֛ים וּמֵ֥אָה קַ֖יִץ וְנֵ֥בֶל יָֽיִן׃

BAN ² Et le roi dit à Tsiba : Que veux-tu faire de cela ? Et Tsiba dit : Les ânes sont pour la maison du roi, pour les monter ; le pain et les fruits sont pour que les jeunes gens aient à manger, et le vin pour que ceux qui seront fatigués dans le désert aient à boire.

KJV ² And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

VULC ² Et dixit rex Sibæ : Quid sibi volunt hæc ? Responditque Siba : Asini, domesticis regis ut sedeant : panes et palathæ ad vescendum pueris tuis : vinum autem ut bibat si quis defecerit in deserto.

WLC ² וַיֹּ֧אמֶר הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ אֶל־ צִיבָ֖א מָה־ אֵ֣לֶּה לָּ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר צִ֠יבָא הַחֲמוֹרִ֨ים לְבֵית־ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לִרְכֹּ֗ב וְהַקַּ֙יִץ֙ לֶאֱכ֣וֹל הַנְּעָרִ֔ים וְהַיַּ֕יִן לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת הַיָּעֵ֖ף בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

BAN ³ Et le roi dit : Et où est le fils de ton maître ? Et Tsiba dit au roi : Voilà, il reste à Jérusalem ; car il a dit : Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël me rendra le royaume de mon père.

KJV ³ And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

VULC ³ Et ait rex : Ubi est filius domini tui ? Responditque Siba regi : Remansit in Jerusalem, dicens : Hodie restituet mihi domus Israël regnum patris mei.

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְאַיֵּ֖ה בֶּן־ אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר צִיבָ֜א אֶל־ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ הִנֵּה֙ יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֔ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר הַיּ֗וֹם יָשִׁ֤יבוּ לִי֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַמְלְכ֥וּת אָבִֽי׃

BAN ⁴ Et le roi dit à Tsiba : Voici, tout ce qu'a Méphiboseth est à toi. Et Tsiba dit : Je me prosterne ! Que je trouve grâce à tes yeux, mon seigneur le roi !

KJV ⁴ Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

VULC ⁴ Et ait rex Sibæ : Tua sint omnia quæ fuerunt Miphiboseth. Dixitque Siba : Oro ut inveniam gratiam coram te, domine mi rex.

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְצִבָ֔א הִנֵּ֣ה לְךָ֔ כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִמְפִי־ בֹ֑שֶׁת וַיֹּ֤אמֶר צִיבָא֙ הִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֔יתִי אֶמְצָא־ חֵ֥ן בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

BAN ⁵ Et le roi David étant arrivé à Bahurim, voici, il sortit de là un homme parent de la maison de Saül, nommé Siméi, fils de Guéra ; il s'avançait en prononçant des malédictions ;

KJV ⁵ And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

VULC ⁵ Venit ergo rex David usque Bahurim : et ecce egrediebatur inde vir de cognatione domus Saul, nomine Semei, filius Gera : procedebatque egrediens, et maledicebat,

WLC ⁵ וּבָ֛א הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד עַד־ בַּֽחוּרִ֑ים וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִשָּׁם֩ אִ֨ישׁ יוֹצֵ֜א מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת בֵּית־ שָׁא֗וּל וּשְׁמוֹ֙ שִׁמְעִ֣י בֶן־ גֵּרָ֔א יֹצֵ֥א יָצ֖וֹא וּמְקַלֵּֽל׃

BAN ⁶ et il jetait des pierres à David et à tous les serviteurs du roi David, et toute la troupe et tous les hommes vaillants étaient à sa droite et à sa gauche.

KJV ⁶ And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

VULC ⁶ mittebatque lapides contra David et contra universos servos regis David : omnis autem populus, et universi bellatores, a dextro et a sinistro latere regis incedebant.

WLC ⁶ וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ אֶת־ דָּוִ֔ד וְאֶת־ כָּל־ עַבְדֵ֖י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וְכָל־ הָעָם֙ וְכָל־ הַגִּבֹּרִ֔ים מִימִינ֖וֹ וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁷ Et Siméi parlait ainsi en le maudissant : Va-t'en, va-t'en, homme de sang, scélérat !

KJV ⁷ And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

VULC ⁷ Ita autem loquebatur Semei cum malediceret regi : Egredere, egredere, vir sanguinum, et vir Belial.

WLC ⁷ וְכֹֽה־ אָמַ֥ר שִׁמְעִ֖י בְּקַֽלְל֑וֹ צֵ֥א צֵ֛א אִ֥ישׁ הַדָּמִ֖ים וְאִ֥ישׁ הַבְּלִיָּֽעַל׃

BAN ⁸ L'Eternel fait retomber sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül, à la place duquel tu t'es fait roi, et l'Eternel a livré le royaume entre les mains d'Absalom ton fils, et te voilà dans le malheur parce que tu es un homme de sang.

KJV ⁸ The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

VULC ⁸ Reddidit tibi Dominus universum sanguinem domus Saul : quoniam invasisti regnum pro eo, et dedit Dominus regnum in manu Absalom filii tui : et ecce premunt te mala tua, quoniam vir sanguinum es.

BAN ⁹ Et Abisaï, fils de Tséruja, dit au roi : Pourquoi ce chien mort maudit-il le roi mon seigneur ? Laisse-moi aller lui ôter la tête !

KJV ⁹ Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

VULC ⁹ Dixit autem Abisai filius Sarviæ regi : Quare maledicit canis hic mortuus domino meo regi ? vadam, et amputabo caput ejus.

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲבִישַׁ֤י בֶּן־ צְרוּיָה֙ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֣מָּה יְקַלֵּ֞ל הַכֶּ֤לֶב הַמֵּת֙ הַזֶּ֔ה אֶת־ אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ אֶעְבְּרָה־ נָּ֖א וְאָסִ֥ירָה אֶת־ רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et le roi dit : Qu'ai-je à faire avec vous, fils de Tséruja ? Qu'il maudisse ! car si l'Eternel lui a dit : Maudis David, qui lui dira : Pourquoi agis-tu ainsi ?

KJV ¹⁰ And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?

VULC ¹⁰ Et ait rex : Quid mihi et vobis est, filii Sarviæ ? dimittite eum, ut maledicat : Dominus enim præcepit ei ut malediceret David : et quis est qui audeat dicere quare sic fecerit ?

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה־ לִּ֥י וְלָכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י צְרֻיָ֑ה יְקַלֵּ֗ל יְהוָה֙ אָ֤מַר לוֹ֙ קַלֵּ֣ל אֶת־ דָּוִ֔ד וּמִ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ עָשִׂ֥יתָה כֵּֽן׃

BAN ¹¹ Et David dit à Abisaï et à tous ses gens : Voici, mon fils qui est sorti de mes entrailles, cherche ma vie ! combien plus maintenant ce Benjamite ! Laissez-le, et qu'il maudisse, car l'Eternel le lui a dit.

KJV ¹¹ And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

VULC ¹¹ Et ait rex Abisai, et universis servis suis : Ecce filius meus qui egressus est de utero meo, quærit animam meam : quanto magis nunc filius Jemini ? Dimittite eum ut maledicat juxta præceptum Domini :

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤ד אֶל־ אֲבִישַׁי֙ וְאֶל־ כָּל־ עֲבָדָ֔יו הִנֵּ֥ה בְנִ֛י אֲשֶׁר־ יָצָ֥א מִמֵּעַ֖י מְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־ נַפְשִׁ֑י וְאַ֨ף כִּֽי־ עַתָּ֜ה בֶּן־ הַיְמִינִ֗י הַנִּ֤חוּ לוֹ֙ וִֽיקַלֵּ֔ל כִּ֥י אָֽמַר־ ל֖וֹ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹² Peut-être l'Eternel regardera-t-il mon affliction et me rendra-t-il du bien au lieu de la malédiction d'aujourd'hui.

KJV ¹² It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

VULC ¹² si forte respiciat Dominus afflictionem meam, et reddat mihi Dominus bonum pro maledictione hac hodierna.

WLC ¹² אוּלַ֛י יִרְאֶ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה וְהֵשִׁ֨יב יְהוָ֥ה לִי֙ טוֹבָ֔ה תַּ֥חַת קִלְלָת֖וֹ הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

BAN ¹³ Et David et ses gens continuèrent leur chemin, et Siméi marchait sur le flanc de la montagne, près de David, et en marchant il maudissait, et il lui jetait des pierres et faisait voler de la poussière.

KJV ¹³ And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

VULC ¹³ Ambulabat itaque David et socii ejus per viam cum eo. Semei autem per jugum montis ex latere contra illum gradiebatur, maledicens, et mittens lapides adversum eum, terramque spargens.

BAN ¹⁴ Et le roi et tout le peuple qui était avec lui arrivèrent à Aïéphim, et là ils reprirent haleine.

KJV ¹⁴ And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

VULC ¹⁴ Venit itaque rex, et universus populus cum eo lassus, et refocillati sunt ibi.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיָּבֹ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְכָל־ הָעָ֥ם אֲשֶׁר־ אִתּ֖וֹ עֲיֵפִ֑ים וַיִּנָּפֵ֖שׁ שָֽׁם׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et Absalom et tout le peuple, les hommes d'Israël, étaient arrivés à Jérusalem, et Ahithophel était avec lui.

KJV ¹⁵ And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

VULC ¹⁵ Absalom autem et omnis populus ejus ingressi sunt Jerusalem, sed et Achitophel cum eo.

BAN ¹⁶ Et lorsque Chusaï l'Archite, l'ami de David, arriva vers Absalom, Chusaï dit à Absalom : Vive le roi ! Vive le roi !

KJV ¹⁶ And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Absalom dit à Chusaï : C'est donc là l'attachement que tu as pour ton ami ! Pourquoi n'es-tu pas allé avec ton ami ?

KJV ¹⁷ And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

VULC ¹⁷ Ad quem Absalom : Hæc est, inquit, gratia tua ad amicum tuum ? quare non ivisti cum amico tuo ?

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶל־ חוּשַׁ֔י זֶ֥ה חַסְדְּךָ֖ אֶת־ רֵעֶ֑ךָ לָ֥מָּה לֹֽא־ הָלַ֖כְתָּ אֶת־ רֵעֶֽךָ׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et Chusaï dit à Absalom : Non ; mais celui qu'ont choisi l'Eternel et ce peuple et tous les hommes d'Israël, ne serais-je pas à lui, et ne resterais-je pas avec lui ?

KJV ¹⁸ And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

VULC ¹⁸ Responditque Chusai ad Absalom : Nequaquam : quia illius ero, quem elegit Dominus, et omnis hic populus, et universus Israël : et cum eo manebo.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חוּשַׁי֮ אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלֹם֒ לֹ֕א כִּי֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּחַ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה וְהָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה וְכָל־ אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֶהְיֶ֖ה וְאִתּ֥וֹ אֵשֵֽׁב׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et en second lieu, qui est celui que je vais servir ? N'est-ce pas son fils ? Comme j'ai été le serviteur de ton père, ainsi je serai le tien.

KJV ¹⁹ And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

VULC ¹⁹ Sed ut et hoc inferam, cui ego serviturus sum ? nonne filio regis ? Sicut parui patri tuo, ita parebo et tibi.

WLC ¹⁹ וְהַשֵּׁנִ֗ית לְמִי֙ אֲנִ֣י אֶֽעֱבֹ֔ד הֲל֖וֹא לִפְנֵ֣י בְנ֑וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָבַ֙דְתִּי֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ כֵּ֖ן אֶהְיֶ֥ה לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃

BAN ²⁰ Et Absalom dit à Ahithophel : Donnez votre avis sur ce que nous avons à faire !

KJV ²⁰ Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

VULC ²⁰ Dixit autem Absalom ad Achitophel : Inite consilium quid agere debeamus.

WLC ²⁰ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם אֶל־ אֲחִיתֹ֑פֶל הָב֥וּ לָכֶ֛ם עֵצָ֖ה מַֽה־ נַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃

BAN ²¹ Et Ahithopbel dit à Absalom : Va vers les concubines de ton père, qu'il a laissées pour veiller sur la maison ; et tout Israël apprendra que tu t'es rendu odieux à ton père, et les mains de tous ceux qui sont avec toi seront fortifiées.

KJV ²¹ And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.

VULC ²¹ Et ait Achitophel ad Absalom : Ingredere ad concubinas patris tui, quas dimisit ad custodiendam domum : ut cum audierit omnis Israël quod fœdaveris patrem tuum, roborentur tecum manus eorum.

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם בּ֚וֹא אֶל־ פִּלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִנִּ֖יחַ לִשְׁמ֣וֹר הַבָּ֑יִת וְשָׁמַ֤ע כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּֽי־ נִבְאַ֣שְׁתָּ אֶת־ אָבִ֔יךָ וְחָ֣זְק֔וּ יְדֵ֖י כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּֽךְ׃

BAN ²² Et on dressa pour Absalom une tente sur le toit, et Absalom vint vers les concubines de son père, aux yeux de tout Israël.

KJV ²² So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

VULC ²² Tetenderunt ergo Absalom tabernaculum in solario, ingressusque est ad concubinas patris sui coram universo Israël.

WLC ²² וַיַּטּ֧וּ לְאַבְשָׁל֛וֹם הָאֹ֖הֶל עַל־ הַגָּ֑ג וַיָּבֹ֤א אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶל־ פִּֽלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יו לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²³ Et un conseil donné par Ahithophel en ces jours-là était regardé comme une parole de Dieu ; il en était ainsi de tous les conseils d'Ahithophel, soit pour David, soit pour Absalom.

KJV ²³ And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

VULC ²³ Consilium autem Achitophel quod dabat in diebus illis, quasi si quis consuleret Deum : sic erat omne consilium Achitophel, et cum esset cum David, et cum esset cum Absalom.

WLC ²³ וַעֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֗פֶל אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָעַץ֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יִשְׁאַל־ בִּדְבַ֣ר הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כֵּ֚ן כָּל־ עֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֔פֶל גַּם־ לְדָוִ֖ד גַּ֥ם לְאַבְשָׁלֹֽם׃

BAN ¹ Et Ahithophel dit à Absalom : Laisse-moi choisir douze mille hommes ! et je me lèverai et je poursuivrai David cette nuit,

KJV ¹ Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

VULC ¹ Dixit ergo Achitophel ad Absalom : Eligam mihi duodecim millia virorum, et consurgens persequar David hac nocte.

WLC ¹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלֹ֑ם אֶבְחֲרָ֣ה נָּ֗א שְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֙לֶף֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְאָק֛וּמָה וְאֶרְדְּפָ֥ה אַחֲרֵי־ דָוִ֖ד הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

BAN ² et j'arriverai sur lui tandis qu'il est fatigué et que ses mains sont affaiblies ; et je l'épouvanterai, et tout le peuple qui est avec lui s'enfuira ; je frapperai le roi seul ;

KJV ² And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

VULC ² Et irruens super eum (quippe qui lassus est, et solutis manibus), percutiam eum : cumque fugerit omnis populus qui cum eo est, percutiam regem desolatum.

BAN ³ et je ramènerai à toi tout le peuple ; l'homme que tu cherches vaut le retour de tous ; tout le peuple sera en paix.

KJV ³ And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.

VULC ³ Et reducam universum populum, quomodo unus homo reverti solet : unum enim virum tu quæris : et omnis populus erit in pace.

WLC ³ וְאָשִׁ֥יבָה כָל־ הָעָ֖ם אֵלֶ֑יךָ כְּשׁ֣וּב הַכֹּ֔ל הָאִישׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתָּ֣ה מְבַקֵּ֔שׁ כָּל־ הָעָ֖ם יִהְיֶ֥ה שָׁלֽוֹם׃

BAN ⁴ Et cette parole plut à Absalom et à tous les Anciens d'Israël.

KJV ⁴ And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

VULC ⁴ Placuitque sermo ejus Absalom, et cunctis majoribus natu Israël.

WLC ⁴ וַיִּישַׁ֥ר הַדָּבָ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י אַבְשָׁלֹ֑ם וּבְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־ זִקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ⁵ Et Absalom dit : Appelle encore Chusaï l'Archite, et nous entendrons aussi ce qu'il a à dire.

KJV ⁵ Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

VULC ⁵ Ait autem Absalom : Vocate Chusai Arachiten, et audiamus quid etiam ipse dicat.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַבְשָׁל֔וֹם קְרָ֣א נָ֔א גַּ֖ם לְחוּשַׁ֣י הָאַרְכִּ֑י וְנִשְׁמְעָ֥ה מַה־ בְּפִ֖יו גַּם־ הֽוּא׃

BAN ⁶ Et Chusaï vint vers Absalom et Absalom lui dit : Voici comment a parlé Abithophel. Ferons-nous ce qu'il a dit ? sinon, parle, toi !

KJV ⁶ And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

VULC ⁶ Cumque venisset Chusai ad Absalom, ait Absalom ad eum : Hujuscemodi sermonem locutus est Achitophel : facere debemus an non ? quod das consilium ?

WLC ⁶ וַיָּבֹ֣א חוּשַׁי֮ אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלוֹם֒ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אַבְשָׁל֨וֹם אֵלָ֜יו לֵאמֹ֗ר כַּדָּבָ֤ר הַזֶּה֙ דִּבֶּ֣ר אֲחִיתֹ֔פֶל הֲנַעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֶת־ דְּבָר֑וֹ אִם־ אַ֖יִן אַתָּ֥ה דַבֵּֽר׃

BAN ⁷ Et Chusaï dit à Absalom : Pour cette fois le conseil qu'a donné Ahithophel n'est pas bon.

KJV ⁷ And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

VULC ⁷ Et dixit Chusai ad Absalom : Non est bonum consilium quod dedit Achitophel hac vice.

WLC ⁷ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר חוּשַׁ֖י אֶל־ אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם לֹֽא־ טוֹבָ֧ה הָעֵצָ֛ה אֲשֶׁר־ יָעַ֥ץ אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל בַּפַּ֥עַם הַזֹּֽאת׃

BAN ⁸ Et Chusaï dit : Tu connais ton père et ses hommes comme des braves, et ils sont exaspérés comme est une ourse privée de ses petits dans la campagne. Et ton père est un homme de guerre, et il ne passera pas la nuit avec le peuple.

KJV ⁸ For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

VULC ⁸ Et rursum intulit Chusai : Tu nosti patrem tuum, et viros qui cum eo sunt, esse fortissimos et amaro animo, veluti si ursa raptis catulis in saltu sæviat : sed et pater tuus vir bellator est, nec morabitur cum populo.

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חוּשַׁ֗י אַתָּ֣ה יָ֠דַעְתָּ אֶת־ אָבִ֨יךָ וְאֶת־ אֲנָשָׁ֜יו כִּ֧י גִבֹּרִ֣ים הֵ֗מָּה וּמָרֵ֥י נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ הֵ֔מָּה כְּדֹ֥ב שַׁכּ֖וּל בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה וְאָבִ֙יךָ֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א יָלִ֖ין אֶת־ הָעָֽם׃

BAN ⁹ Voici, il est maintenant caché dans quelque fosse où dans quelque autre lieu ; et il arrivera que si dès le commencement il en tombe quelques-uns, le bruit s'en répandra et l'on dira : Il y a une déroute dans le peuple qui suit Absalom.

KJV ⁹ Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

VULC ⁹ Forsitan nunc latitat in foveis, aut in uno, quo voluerit, loco : et cum ceciderit unus quilibet in principio, audiet quicumque audierit, et dicet : Facta est plaga in populo qui sequebatur Absalom.

WLC ⁹ הִנֵּ֨ה עַתָּ֤ה הֽוּא־ נֶחְבָּא֙ בְּאַחַ֣ת הַפְּחָתִ֔ים א֖וֹ בְּאַחַ֣ד הַמְּקוֹמֹ֑ת וְהָיָ֗ה כִּנְפֹ֤ל בָּהֶם֙ בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה וְשָׁמַ֤ע הַשֹּׁמֵ֙עַ֙ וְאָמַ֔ר הָֽיְתָה֙ מַגֵּפָ֔ה בָּעָ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר אַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֹֽם׃

BAN ¹⁰ Alors, même le plus brave, au coeur de lion, perdra tout courage ; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un homme vaillant et que des braves l'accompagnent.

KJV ¹⁰ And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

VULC ¹⁰ Et fortissimus quisque, cujus cor est quasi leonis, pavore solvetur : scit enim omnis populus Israël fortem esse patrem tuum, et robustos omnes qui cum eo sunt.

WLC ¹⁰ וְה֣וּא גַם־ בֶּן־ חַ֗יִל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לִבּ֛וֹ כְּלֵ֥ב הָאַרְיֵ֖ה הִמֵּ֣ס יִמָּ֑ס כִּֽי־ יֹדֵ֤עַ כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּי־ גִבּ֣וֹר אָבִ֔יךָ וּבְנֵי־ חַ֖יִל אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹¹ C'est pourquoi je conseille que tout Israël se rassemble vers toi, depuis Dan jusqu'à Béerséba, nombreux comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer ; et tu marcheras en personne au combat.

KJV ¹¹ Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

VULC ¹¹ Sed hoc mihi videtur rectum esse consilium. Congregetur ad te universus Israël, a Dan usque Bersabee, quasi arena maris innumerabilis : et tu eris in medio eorum.

WLC ¹¹ כִּ֣י יָעַ֗צְתִּי הֵ֠אָסֹף יֵאָסֵ֨ף עָלֶ֤יךָ כָל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִדָּן֙ וְעַד־ בְּאֵ֣ר שֶׁ֔בַע כַּח֥וֹל אֲשֶׁר־ עַל־ הַיָּ֖ם לָרֹ֑ב וּפָנֶ֥יךָ הֹלְכִ֖ים בַּקְרָֽב׃

BAN ¹² Et nous l'atteindrons dans quelque lieu qu'il se trouve, et nous tomberons sur lui comme la rosée tombe sur le sol ; et de lui et de tous les hommes qui sont avec lui il n'en restera pas un seul.

KJV ¹² So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

BAN ¹³ Et s'il se retire dans une ville, tout Israël apportera des cordes vers cette ville, et nous la traînerons jusqu'au torrent, de telle sorte qu'on n'y trouve plus même une pierre.

KJV ¹³ Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

VULC ¹³ Quod si urbem aliquam fuerit ingressus, circumdabit omnis Israël civitati illi funes, et trahemus eam in torrentem, ut non reperiatur ne calculus quidem ex ea.

WLC ¹³ וְאִם־ אֶל־ עִיר֙ יֵֽאָסֵ֔ף וְהִשִּׂ֧יאוּ כָֽל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶל־ הָעִ֥יר הַהִ֖יא חֲבָלִ֑ים וְסָחַ֤בְנוּ אֹתוֹ֙ עַד־ הַנַּ֔חַל עַ֛ד אֲשֶֽׁר־ לֹא־ נִמְצָ֥א שָׁ֖ם גַּם־ צְרֽוֹר׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et Absalom et tous les hommes d'Israël dirent : Le conseil de Chusaï l'Archite est meilleur que le conseil d'Ahithophel. Et l'Eternel avait décidé de faire rejeter le bon conseil d'Ahithophel afin de faire venir le mal sur Absalom.

KJV ¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

VULC ¹⁴ Dixitque Absalom, et omnes viri Israël : Melius est consilium Chusai Arachitæ, consilio Achitophel : Domini autem nutu dissipatum est consilium Achitophel utile, ut induceret Dominus super Absalom malum.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ וְכָל־ אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל טוֹבָ֗ה עֲצַת֙ חוּשַׁ֣י הָאַרְכִּ֔י מֵעֲצַ֖ת אֲחִיתֹ֑פֶל וַיהוָ֣ה צִוָּ֗ה לְהָפֵ֞ר אֶת־ עֲצַ֤ת אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה לְבַעֲב֗וּר הָבִ֧יא יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־ אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם אֶת־ הָרָעָֽה׃
