KJV ¹⁴ And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

MAR ¹⁴ Et David dit à tous ses serviteurs qui étaient avec lui à Jérusalem : Levez-vous, et fuyons ; car nous ne saurions échapper devant Absalom. Hâtez-vous d'aller, de peur qu'il ne se hâte, qu'il ne nous atteigne, qu'il ne fasse venir le mal sur nous, et qu'il ne frappe la ville au tranchant de l'épée.

NEG ¹⁴ Et David dit à tous ses serviteurs qui étaient avec lui à Jérusalem: Levez-vous, fuyons, car il n'y aura point de salut pour nous devant Absalom. Hâtez-vous de partir; sinon, il ne tarderait pas à nous atteindre, et il nous précipiterait dans le malheur et frapperait la ville du tranchant de l'épée.

KJV ¹⁵ And the king's servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants are ready to do whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint.

KJV ¹⁹ Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou art a stranger, and also an exile.

KJV ²⁰ Whereas thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.

KJV ²¹ And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

KJV ²⁵ And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:

KJV ³¹ And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

KJV ³² And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

KJV ³³ Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

KJV ³⁵ And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

KJV ³⁷ So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

NEG ¹ Lorsque David eut un peu dépassé le sommet, voici, Tsiba, serviteur de Mephiboscheth, vint au-devant de lui avec deux ânes bâtés, sur lesquels il y avait deux cents pains, cent masses de raisins secs, cent de fruits d'été, et une outre de vin.

KJV ² And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

MAR ² Et le Roi dit à Tsiba : Que veux-tu faire de cela ? Et Tsiba répondit : Les ânes sont pour la famille du Roi, afin qu'ils montent dessus ; et le pain, et les autres fruits d'Eté à manger, sont pour les jeunes gens, et il y a du vin pour boire, afin que ceux qui se trouveront fatigués au désert, en boivent.

NEG ² Le roi dit à Tsiba: Que veux-tu faire de cela? Et Tsiba répondit: Les ânes serviront de monture à la maison du roi, le pain et les fruits d'été sont pour nourrir les jeunes gens, et le vin pour désaltérer ceux qui seront fatigués dans le désert.

KJV ³ And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

MAR ³ Et le Roi lui dit : Mais où est le fils de ton Maître ? Et Tsiba répondit au Roi : Voilà, il est demeuré à Jérusalem ; car il a dit : Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël me rendra le Royaume de mon père.

KJV ⁴ Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

KJV ⁵ And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

KJV ⁶ And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

KJV ⁸ The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

KJV ¹¹ And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

KJV ¹² It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

KJV ¹³ And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

KJV ¹⁷ And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

KJV ¹⁸ And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

KJV ¹⁹ And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

KJV ²¹ And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.

KJV ²² So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

KJV ²³ And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

NEG ²³ Les conseils donnés en ce temps-là par Achitophel avaient autant d'autorité que si l'on avait consulté Dieu lui-même. Il en était ainsi de tous les conseils d'Achitophel, soit pour David, soit pour Absalom.

WLC ²³ וַעֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֗פֶל אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָעַץ֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יִשְׁאַל־ בִּדְבַ֣ר הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כֵּ֚ן כָּל־ עֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֔פֶל גַּם־ לְדָוִ֖ד גַּ֥ם לְאַבְשָׁלֹֽם׃

KJV ¹ Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

MAR ¹ Après cela Achithophel dit à Absalom : Je choisirai maintenant douze mille hommes, et je me lèverai, et je poursuivrai David cette nuit.

WLC ¹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלֹ֑ם אֶבְחֲרָ֣ה נָּ֗א שְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֙לֶף֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְאָק֛וּמָה וְאֶרְדְּפָ֥ה אַחֲרֵי־ דָוִ֖ד הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

KJV ² And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

MAR ² Et je me jetterai sur lui ; il est fatigué, et ses mains sont affaiblies, et je l'épouvanterai, tellement que tout le peuple qui est avec lui, s'enfuira, et je frapperai le Roi seulement.

WLC ² וְאָב֣וֹא עָלָ֗יו וְה֤וּא יָגֵ֙עַ֙ וּרְפֵ֣ה יָדַ֔יִם וְהַֽחֲרַדְתִּ֣י אֹת֔וֹ וְנָ֖ס כָּל־ הָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר־ אִתּ֑וֹ וְהִכֵּיתִ֥י אֶת־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לְבַדּֽוֹ׃

KJV ³ And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.

MAR ³ Et je ferai que tout le peuple retournera à toi ; [car] l'homme que tu cherches vaut autant que si tous retournaient à toi ; [ainsi] tout le peuple sera sain et sauf.

NEG ³ et je ramènerai à toi tout le peuple; la mort de l'homme à qui tu en veux assurera le retour de tous, et tout le peuple sera en paix.

KJV ⁴ And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

MAR ⁴ Cet avis fut trouvé bon par Absalom, et par tous les Anciens d'Israël.

KJV ⁵ Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

MAR ⁵ Mais Absalom dit : Qu'on appelle maintenant aussi Cusaï Arkite, et que nous entendions aussi son avis.

NEG ⁵ Cependant Absalom dit: Appelez encore Huschaï, l'Arkien, et que nous entendions aussi ce qu'il dira.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַבְשָׁל֔וֹם קְרָ֣א נָ֔א גַּ֖ם לְחוּשַׁ֣י הָאַרְכִּ֑י וְנִשְׁמְעָ֥ה מַה־ בְּפִ֖יו גַּם־ הֽוּא׃

KJV ⁶ And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

MAR ⁶ Or quand Cusaï fut venu vers Absalom, Absalom lui dit : Achithophel a donné un tel avis ; ferons-nous ce qu'il a dit, ou non ? Parle, toi.

NEG ⁶ Huschaï vint auprès d'Absalom, et Absalom lui dit: Voici comment a parlé Achitophel; devons-nous faire ce qu'il a dit, ou non? Parle, toi!

WLC ⁶ וַיָּבֹ֣א חוּשַׁי֮ אֶל־ אַבְשָׁלוֹם֒ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ אַבְשָׁל֨וֹם אֵלָ֜יו לֵאמֹ֗ר כַּדָּבָ֤ר הַזֶּה֙ דִּבֶּ֣ר אֲחִיתֹ֔פֶל הֲנַעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֶת־ דְּבָר֑וֹ אִם־ אַ֖יִן אַתָּ֥ה דַבֵּֽר׃

KJV ⁷ And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

MAR ⁷ Alors Cusaï dit à Absalom : Le conseil qu'Achithophel a donné maintenant, n'est pas bon.

NEG ⁷ Huschaï répondit à Absalom: Pour cette fois le conseil qu'a donné Achitophel n'est pas bon.

WLC ⁷ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר חוּשַׁ֖י אֶל־ אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם לֹֽא־ טוֹבָ֧ה הָעֵצָ֛ה אֲשֶׁר־ יָעַ֥ץ אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל בַּפַּ֥עַם הַזֹּֽאת׃

KJV ⁸ For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

MAR ⁸ Cusaï dit encore : Tu connais ton père et ses gens, que se sont des gens forts, et qui ont le coeur outré, comme une ourse des champs à qui on a pris ses petits ; et ton père est un homme de guerre, qui ne passera point la nuit avec le peuple.

NEG ⁸ Et Huschaï dit: Tu connais la bravoure de ton père et de ses gens, ils sont furieux comme le serait dans les champs une ourse à qui l'on aurait enlevé ses petits. Ton père est un homme de guerre, et il ne passera pas la nuit avec le peuple;

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חוּשַׁ֗י אַתָּ֣ה יָ֠דַעְתָּ אֶת־ אָבִ֨יךָ וְאֶת־ אֲנָשָׁ֜יו כִּ֧י גִבֹּרִ֣ים הֵ֗מָּה וּמָרֵ֥י נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ הֵ֔מָּה כְּדֹ֥ב שַׁכּ֖וּל בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה וְאָבִ֙יךָ֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א יָלִ֖ין אֶת־ הָעָֽם׃

KJV ⁹ Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

MAR ⁹ Voici, il est maintenant caché dans quelque fosse, ou dans quelque autre lieu ; s'il arrive qu'au commencement on soit battu par eux, quiconque en entendra parler, l'ayant su, dira : Le peuple qui suit Absalom a été défait.

NEG ⁹ voici maintenant, il est caché dans quelque fosse ou dans quelque autre lieu. Et si, dès le commencement, il en est qui tombent sous leurs coups, on ne tardera pas à l'apprendre et l'on dira: Il y a une défaite parmi le peuple qui suit Absalom!

WLC ⁹ הִנֵּ֨ה עַתָּ֤ה הֽוּא־ נֶחְבָּא֙ בְּאַחַ֣ת הַפְּחָתִ֔ים א֖וֹ בְּאַחַ֣ד הַמְּקוֹמֹ֑ת וְהָיָ֗ה כִּנְפֹ֤ל בָּהֶם֙ בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה וְשָׁמַ֤ע הַשֹּׁמֵ֙עַ֙ וְאָמַ֔ר הָֽיְתָה֙ מַגֵּפָ֔ה בָּעָ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר אַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֹֽם׃

KJV ¹⁰ And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

MAR ¹⁰ Alors le plus vaillant, celui-là même qui avait le coeur comme un lion, se fondra ; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un homme de coeur, et que ceux qui sont avec lui sont vaillants.

NEG ¹⁰ Alors le plus vaillant, aurait-il un cœur de lion, sera saisi d'épouvante; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un héros et qu'il a des braves avec lui.

WLC ¹⁰ וְה֣וּא גַם־ בֶּן־ חַ֗יִל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לִבּ֛וֹ כְּלֵ֥ב הָאַרְיֵ֖ה הִמֵּ֣ס יִמָּ֑ס כִּֽי־ יֹדֵ֤עַ כָּל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּי־ גִבּ֣וֹר אָבִ֔יךָ וּבְנֵי־ חַ֖יִל אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹¹ Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

MAR ¹¹ Mais je suis d'avis qu'en diligence on assemble vers toi tout Israël, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beersébah, lequel sera en grand nombre comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer, et que toi-même en personne marches en bataille.

NEG ¹¹ Je conseille donc que tout Israël se rassemble auprès de toi, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer-Schéba, multitude pareille au sable qui est sur le bord de la mer. Tu marcheras en personne au combat.

WLC ¹¹ כִּ֣י יָעַ֗צְתִּי הֵ֠אָסֹף יֵאָסֵ֨ף עָלֶ֤יךָ כָל־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִדָּן֙ וְעַד־ בְּאֵ֣ר שֶׁ֔בַע כַּח֥וֹל אֲשֶׁר־ עַל־ הַיָּ֖ם לָרֹ֑ב וּפָנֶ֥יךָ הֹלְכִ֖ים בַּקְרָֽב׃

KJV ¹² So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

MAR ¹² Alors nous viendrons à lui en quelque lieu que nous le trouvions, et nous nous jetterons sur lui, comme la rosée tombe sur la terre, et il ne lui restera aucun de tous les hommes qui sont avec lui.

KJV ¹³ Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

KJV ¹⁴ And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

MAR ¹⁴ Alors Absalom et tous les hommes d'Israël dirent : Le conseil de Cusaï Arkite est meilleur que le conseil d'Achithophel ; car l'Eternel avait décrété que le conseil d'Achithophel, qui était le plus utile [pour Absalom], fût dissipé, afin de faire venir le mal sur Absalom.

NEG ¹⁴ Absalom et tous les gens d'Israël dirent: Le conseil de Huschaï, l'Arkien, vaut mieux que le conseil d'Achitophel. Or l'Eternel avait résolu d'anéantir le bon conseil d'Achitophel, afin d'amener le malheur sur Absalom.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ וְכָל־ אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל טוֹבָ֗ה עֲצַת֙ חוּשַׁ֣י הָאַרְכִּ֔י מֵעֲצַ֖ת אֲחִיתֹ֑פֶל וַיהוָ֣ה צִוָּ֗ה לְהָפֵ֞ר אֶת־ עֲצַ֤ת אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ הַטּוֹבָ֔ה לְבַעֲב֗וּר הָבִ֧יא יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־ אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם אֶת־ הָרָעָֽה׃
