2S 2:18-24 (Darby)

   ¹⁸ Et il y avait là trois fils de Tseruïa, Joab, et Abishaï, et Asçaël. ¹⁹ Et Asçaël était léger de ses pieds comme une des gazelles qui sont dans les champs. Et Asçaël poursuivit Abner, et il ne se détourna pas d'Abner pour aller à droite ou à gauche. ²⁰ Et Abner regarda derrière lui, et dit : Est-ce toi, Asçaël ? Et il dit : C'est moi. ²¹ Et Abner lui dit : Détourne-toi à droite ou à gauche, et saisis-toi de l'un des jeunes hommes et prends pour toi son armure. Mais Asçaël ne voulut pas se détourner de lui. ²² Et Abner dit encore à Asçaël : Détourne-toi de moi ! Pourquoi te jetterais-je mort par terre ? Et comment lèverais-je ma face devant Joab, ton frère ? ²³ Mais il refusa de se détourner, et Abner le frappa au ventre avec la hampe de sa lance, et sa lance lui sortit par derrière, et il tomba là et mourut sur place. Et tous ceux qui venaient à l'endroit où Asçaël était tombé et était mort, s'arrêtaient. ²⁴ Et Joab et Abishaï poursuivirent Abner ; et le soleil se couchait quand ils arrivèrent à la colline d'Amma, qui est devant Guiakh, sur le chemin du désert de Gabaon.

   ¹⁸ And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe. ¹⁹ And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner. ²⁰ Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am. ²¹ And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him. ²² And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother? ²³ Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still. ²⁴ Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.

   ¹⁸ Les trois fils de Tséruja, Joab, Abisaï, et Hasaël étaient là. Et Hasaël était léger du pied comme un chevreuil [qui est] par les champs. ¹⁹ Et Hasaël poursuivit Abner, sans se détourner à droite ni à gauche d'après Abner. ²⁰ Abner donc regardant derrière soi, dit : Es-tu Hasaël ? et [Hasaël] répondit : Je le suis. ²¹ Et Abner lui dit : Détourne-toi à droite ou à gauche, et saisis-toi de l'un de ces jeunes gens, et prends sa dépouille pour toi. Mais Hasaël ne voulut point se détourner de lui. ²² Et Abner continuait à dire à Hasaël : Détourne-toi de moi ; pourquoi te jetterais-je mort par terre ? et comment oserais-je paraître devant Joab ton frère ? ²³ Mais il ne voulut jamais se détourner ; et Abner le frappa de sa hallebarde à la cinquième côte du bout de derrière, tellement que sa hallebarde lui sortait par derrière, et il tomba là roide mort sur la place ; et tous ceux qui venaient à l'endroit où Hasaël était tombé mort, s'arrêtaient. ²⁴ Joab donc et Abisaï poursuivirent Abner, et le soleil se coucha quand ils arrivèrent au coteau d'Amma, qui est vis-à-vis de Gujah, au chemin du désert de Gabaon.
