Oracle de David, fils d'Isaï,
Oracle de l'homme haut élevé,
De l'oint du Dieu de Jacob,
Du doux chantre d'Israël :

KJV ¹ Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

BAN ² L'Esprit de l'Eternel a parlé par moi,
Et sa parole est sur mes lèvres.

KJV ² The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

BAN ³ Le Dieu d'Israël a parlé,
Le Rocher d'Israël m'a dit :
Un dominateur juste sur les hommes,
Un dominateur dans la crainte de Dieu !

KJV ³ The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

BAN ⁴ C'est comme quand, à la lumière du matin, le soleil resplendit ;
Un matin sans nuage !

KJV ⁴ And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

BAN ⁵ De son éclat après la pluie l'herbe [sort], de la terre.
N'en est-il pas ainsi de ma maison devant Dieu ?
Car il a établi pour, moi une alliance éternelle,
Bien ordonnée de tous points et bien gardée !
Ne fera-t-il donc pas germer tout mon salut et tout ce que je désire ?

KJV ⁵ Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

BAN ⁶ Mais les pervers sont tous comme des épines que l'on jette ;
On ne les prend pas avec la main.

KJV ⁶ But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

BAN ⁷ L'homme qui y touche se munit d'un fer et d'un bois de lance,
Et on les brûle complètement sur place.

KJV ⁷ But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

BAN ⁸ Voici les noms des vaillants hommes de David :
Joseb Bassébeth, le Tachkémonite, chef des officiers ; il brandit sa lance sur huit cents hommes tués dans une seule rencontre.

KJV ⁸ These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

BAN ⁹ Après lui, Eléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d'Achochi. Il était l'un des trois guerriers qui accompagnaient David, lorsqu'ils défièrent les Philistins qui étaient assemblés là pour combattre, et que les hommes d'Israël gagnaient les hauteurs.

KJV ⁹ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

BAN ¹⁰ Il se leva et frappa les Philistins jusqu'à ce que sa main fut lasse et qu'elle resta attachée à son épée. Et l'Eternel opéra une grande délivrance en ce jour-là ; le peuple revint à sa suite, mais seulement pour piller.

KJV ¹⁰ He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

BAN ¹¹ Après lui Samma, fils d'Agué, de Harar. Les Philistins s'étaient assemblés en troupe ; il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie de lentilles, et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.

KJV ¹¹ And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

BAN ¹² Il se plaça au milieu du champ et le défendit, et frappa les Philistins, et l'Eternel opéra une grande délivrance.

KJV ¹² But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

BAN ¹³ Et trois d'entre les trente chefs, descendirent au temps de la moisson et vinrent vers David, à la caverne d'Adullam, tandis qu'une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Réphaïm.

KJV ¹³ And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

BAN ¹⁴ David était alors dans la forteresse, et il y avait en même temps un poste de Philistins à Bethléem.

KJV ¹⁴ And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

BAN ¹⁵ Et David eut un désir, et dit. Qui me fera boire de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem ?

KJV ¹⁵ And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

BAN ¹⁶ Alors les trois vaillants hommes passèrent au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem ; ils l'apportèrent et la présentèrent à David ; mais il ne voulut pas la boire, et il en fit une libation à l'Eternel,

KJV ¹⁶ And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

BAN ¹⁷ et il dit : Loin de moi, ô Eternel, de faire cela ! N'est-ce pas le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie ? Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent les trois vaillants hommes.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

BAN ¹⁸ Et Abisaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tséruja, était chef des officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes tués ; et il eut du renom parmi les trois.

KJV ¹⁸ And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

BAN ¹⁹ Il était plus considéré que les trente et, il fut leur chef, mais il n'égala pas les trois.

KJV ¹⁹ Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

BAN ²⁰ Et Bénaïa, fils de Jéhojada, fils d'un homme vaillant, grand en exploits, de Kabtséel, frappa les deux lions de Dieu de Moab ; et il descendit et frappa un lion dans une citerne, par un jour de neige.

KJV ²⁰ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

BAN ²¹ C'est lui aussi qui frappa un Egyptien d'un aspect redoutable et qui avait une lance à la main ; il descendit vers lui avec un bâton, arracha la lance de la main de l'Egyptien et le tua avec sa lance.

KJV ²¹ And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

BAN ²² Voilà ce que fit Bénaïa, fils de Jéhojada ; et il eut du renom parmi les trois hommes forts.

KJV ²² These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

BAN ²³ Il était plus considéré que les trente, mais il n'égala pas les trois. David lui donna une place dans son conseil.

KJV ²³ He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

KJV ²⁴ Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

KJV ³⁹ Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.

BAN ¹ Et la colère de l'Eternel s'alluma de nouveau contre Israël, et il incita David contre eux, en disant : Va, dénombre Israël et Juda.

KJV ¹ And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

BAN ² Et le roi dit à Joab, chef de l'armée, qui était avec lui : Parcours toutes les tribus d'Israël, de Dan jusqu'à Béerséba, et faites le dénombrement du peuple, et je saurai le nombre du peuple.

KJV ² For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.

BAN ³ Et Joab dit au roi : Que l'Eternel ton Dieu rende le peuple plus nombreux, cent fois plus nombreux qu'ils ne le sont, et que les yeux de mon seigneur le roi le voient ! Mais pourquoi le roi, mon seigneur, prend-il plaisir à cela ?

KJV ³ And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

BAN ⁴ Et l'ordre du roi prévalut contre Joab et fut donné aux chefs de l'armée ; et Joab et les chefs de l'armée sortirent devant le roi pour faire le dénombrement du peuple d'Israël.

KJV ⁴ Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

BAN ⁵ Et ils passèrent le Jourdain, et campèrent à Aroër, à droite de la ville, qui est au milieu de la vallée de Gad, et près de Jaézer.

KJV ⁵ And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:

BAN ⁶ Et ils vinrent en Galaad, et dans le bas-pays de Chodschi ; et ils vinrent à Dan-Jaan et dans les environs de Sidon.

KJV ⁶ Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtimhodshi; and they came to Danjaan, and about to Zidon,

BAN ⁷ Et ils vinrent à la place forte de Tyr, et dans toutes les villes des Héviens et des Cananéens. Et ils finirent par le midi de Juda, à Béerséba.

KJV ⁷ And came to the strong hold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites: and they went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba.

BAN ⁸ Et ils parcoururent tout le pays, et au bout de neuf mois et vingt jours ils revinrent à Jérusalem.

KJV ⁸ So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

BAN ⁹ Et Joab donna au roi le chiffre du recensement du peuple : il y avait en Israël huit cent mille hommes de guerre tirant l'épée, et en Juda cinq cent mille hommes.

KJV ⁹ And Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.

BAN ¹⁰ Et le coeur de David le reprit quand il eut fait le recensement du peuple ; et David dit à l'Eternel : J'ai commis un grand péché dans ce que j'ai fait ! Et maintenant, ô Eternel, ôte l'iniquité de ton serviteur, car j'ai agi très follement !

KJV ¹⁰ And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

BAN ¹¹ Et le lendemain, quand David se leva, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Gad, le prophète, le voyant de David, en ces mots :

KJV ¹¹ For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

BAN ¹² Va et dis à David : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Je mets devant toi trois choses ; choisis-en une, et je te la ferai.

KJV ¹² Go and say unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

BAN ¹³ Et Gad vint vers David et lui rapporta cela en disant : Sept ans de famine viendront-ils sur ton pays, ou bien fuiras-tu trois mois devant tes ennemis qui te poursuivront, ou bien y aura-t-il trois jours de peste dans ton pays ? Maintenant décide, et vois ce que je dois répondre à celui qui m'envoie.

KJV ¹³ So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

BAN ¹⁴ Et David dit à Gad : Je suis dans une grande angoisse ! Que nous tombions entre les mains de l'Eternel, car ses compassions sont grandes et que je ne tombe pas entre les mains des hommes !

KJV ¹⁴ And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

BAN ¹⁵ Et l'Eternel envoya la peste en Israël, depuis le matin jusqu'au temps fixé ; et de Dan à Béerséba il mourut soixante et dix mille hommes parmi le peuple.

KJV ¹⁵ So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

BAN ¹⁶ Et l'ange étendait sa main vers Jérusalem pour la détruire ; mais l'Eternel se repentit de ce mal, et dit à l'ange qui portait la destruction dans le peuple : Assez ! Retire maintenant ta main ! Et l'ange de l'Eternel était près de l'aire d'Arauna, le Jébusien.

KJV ¹⁶ And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

BAN ¹⁷ Et David, quand il vit l'ange qui frappait le peuple, dit à l'Eternel : Voici, c'est moi qui ai péché ! C'est moi qui suis coupable ! mais ces brebis, qu'ont-elles fait ? Que ta main soit donc sur moi et sur la maison de mon père !

KJV ¹⁷ And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

BAN ¹⁸ Et Gad vint vers David ce même jour et lui dit : Monte, dresse un autel à l'Eternel dans l'aire d'Arauna, le Jébusien.

KJV ¹⁸ And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

BAN ¹⁹ Et David monta, selon la parole de Gad, comme l'Eternel l'avait ordonné.

KJV ¹⁹ And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

BAN ²⁰ Et Arauna regarda, et il vit le roi et ses serviteurs qui se dirigeaient vers lui ; et Arauna sortit, et se prosterna devant le roi, le visage contre terre.

KJV ²⁰ And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

BAN ²¹ Et Arauna dit : Pourquoi mon seigneur le roi vient-il vers son serviteur ? Et David dit : Pour acheter de toi l'aire afin d'y bâtir un autel à l'Eternel, afin que la plaie se retire de dessus le peuple.

KJV ²¹ And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

BAN ²² Et Arauna dit à David Que mon seigneur le roi prenne et qu'il offre en sacrifice ce qu'il trouvera bon ; vois, les boeufs seront pour l'holocauste, et les chars avec les jougs des boeufs serviront de bois.

KJV ²² And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

BAN ²³ Tout cela, ô roi, Arauna le donne au roi. Et Arauna dit au roi : Que l'Eternel ton Dieu te soit favorable !

KJV ²³ All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.

BAN ²⁴ Et le roi dit àArauna : Non ! Mais je veux l'acheter de toi à prix d'argent, et je n'offrirai pas à l'Eternel, mon Dieu, des holocaustes qui ne me coûtent rien. Et David acheta l'aire et les boeufs pour cinquante sicles d'argent.

KJV ²⁴ And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

BAN ²⁵ Et David bâtit là un autel à l'Eternel et offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces. Ainsi l'Eternel fut apaisé envers le pays, et la plaie se retira de dessus Israël.

KJV ²⁵ And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
