KJV ⁴ And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

KJV ⁵ Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

LSG ⁵ N'en est-il pas ainsi de ma maison devant Dieu, Puisqu'il a fait avec moi une alliance éternelle, En tous points bien réglée et offrant pleine sécurité ? Ne fera-t-il pas germer tout mon salut et tous mes désirs ?

MAR ⁵ Mais il n'en sera pas ainsi de ma maison envers le [Dieu] Fort, parce qu'il a traité avec moi une alliance éternelle bien établie, et assurée ; car [c'est] tout mon salut, et tout mon plaisir ; c'est pourquoi il ne fera pas [simplement] germer [ma maison].

KJV ⁶ But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

KJV ⁷ But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

KJV ⁸ These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

KJV ⁹ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

KJV ¹¹ And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

LSG ¹⁷ Il dit: Loin de moi, ô Éternel, la pensée de faire cela ! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie ? Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois vaillants hommes.

MAR ¹⁷ Car il dit : Qu'il ne m'arrive jamais, ô Eternel ! de faire une telle chose. N'est-ce pas là le sang de ces hommes qui ont fait ce voyage au péril de leur vie ? Il n'en voulut donc point boire. Ces trois vaillants [hommes] firent cette action-là.

KJV ¹⁸ And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

KJV ²⁰ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

KJV ²¹ And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

KJV ²² These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

KJV ²³ He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

KJV ³ And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?

KJV ⁴ Notwithstanding the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the host. And Joab and the captains of the host went out from the presence of the king, to number the people of Israel.

MAR ¹⁰ Alors David fut touché en son coeur, après qu'il eut fait ainsi dénombrer le peuple ; et David dit à l'Eternel : J'ai commis un grand péché en faisant cela, mais, je te prie, ô Eternel ! pardonne l'iniquité de ton serviteur ; car j'ai agi très-follement.

KJV ¹¹ For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

KJV ¹³ So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

LSG ¹³ Gad alla vers David, et lui fit connaître la chose, en disant: Veux-tu sept années de famine dans ton pays, ou bien trois mois de fuite devant tes ennemis qui te poursuivront, ou bien trois jours de peste dans ton pays ? Maintenant choisis, et vois ce que je dois répondre à celui qui m'envoie.

MAR ¹³ Gad vint donc vers David, et lui fit entendre cela en disant : Que veux-tu qui t'arrive : ou sept ans de famine sur ton pays ; ou que durant trois mois tu fuies devant tes ennemis, et qu'ils te poursuivent ; ou que durant trois jours la mortalité soit en ton pays ? KJV ¹⁵ So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

KJV ¹⁶ And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

LSG ¹⁶ Comme l'ange étendait la main sur Jérusalem pour la détruire, l'Éternel se repentit de ce mal, et il dit à l'ange qui faisait périr le peuple: Assez ! Retire maintenant ta main. L'ange de l'Éternel était près de l'aire d'Aravna, le Jébusien.

MAR ¹⁶ Mais quand l'Ange eut étendu sa main sur Jérusalem pour la ravager, l'Eternel se repentit de ce mal-là et dit à l'Ange qui faisait le dégât parmi le peuple : C'est assez, retire à cette heure ta main. Or l'Ange de l'Eternel était auprès de l'aire d'Arauna Jébusien.

KJV ¹⁷ And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

MAR ¹⁷ Car David voyant l'Ange qui frappait le peuple, parla à l'Eternel, et dit : Voici, c'est moi qui ai péché, c'est moi qui ai commis l'iniquité, mais ces brebis qu'ont-elles fait ? Je te prie que ta main soit contre moi, et contre la maison de mon père.

KJV ¹⁸ And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

KJV ¹⁹ And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

KJV ²⁰ And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

KJV ²¹ And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

LSG ²¹ Aravna dit: Pourquoi mon seigneur le roi vient-il vers son serviteur ? Et David répondit: Pour acheter de toi l'aire et pour y bâtir un autel à l'Éternel, afin que la plaie se retire de dessus le peuple.

MAR ²¹ Et Arauna dit : Pour quel sujet le Roi mon Seigneur vient-il vers son serviteur ? Et David répondit : Pour acheter ton aire, et y bâtir un autel à l'Eternel, afin que cette plaie soit arrêtée de dessus le peuple.

KJV ²² And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

LSG ²² Aravna dit à David: Que mon seigneur le roi prenne l'aire, et qu'il y offre les sacrifices qu'il lui plaira ; vois, les boeufs seront pour l'holocauste, et les chars avec l'attelage serviront de bois.

MAR ²² Et Arauna dit à David : Que le Roi mon Seigneur prenne et offre ce qu'il lui plaira. Voilà des boeufs pour l'holocauste, et des chariots, et un attelage de boeufs au lieu de bois.

KJV ²³ All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.

LSG ²³ Aravna donna le tout au roi. Et Aravna dit au roi: Que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te soit favorable !

MAR ²³ Arauna donna tout cela au Roi [comme] un Roi. Et Arauna dit au Roi : L'Eternel ton Dieu veuille t'avoir pour agréable !

KJV ²⁴ And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

LSG ²⁴ Mais le roi dit à Aravna: Non ! Je veux l'acheter de toi à prix d'argent, et je n'offrirai point à l'Éternel, mon Dieu, des holocaustes qui ne me coûtent rien. Et David acheta l'aire et les boeufs pour cinquante sicles d'argent.

MAR ²⁴ Et le Roi répondit à Arauna : Non, mais je l'achèterai de toi pour un certain prix, et je n'offrirai point à l'Eternel mon Dieu des holocaustes qui ne me coûtent rien. Ainsi David acheta l'aire, et il [acheta aussi] les boeufs cinquante sicles d'argent.

KJV ²⁵ And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

LSG ²⁵ David bâtit là un autel à l'Éternel, et il offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces. Alors l'Éternel fut apaisé envers le pays, et la plaie se retira d'Israël.
