BAN ¹ Et la guerre se prolongea entre la maison de Saül et la maison de David ; et David allait se fortifiant et la maison de Saül allait s'affaiblissant.

KJV ¹ Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

BAN ² Il naquit à David des fils à Hébron ; son premier-né fut Amnon, d'Ahinoam de Jizréel ;

KJV ² And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;

BAN ³ le second, Kiléab, d'Abigaïl, femme de Nabal du Carmel ; le troisième, Absalom, fils de Maaca, fille de Thalmaï, roi de Guessur ;

KJV ³ And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

BAN ⁴ le quatrième, Adonija, fils de Hagguith ; le cinquième, Séphatia, fils d'Abital ;

KJV ⁴ And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

BAN ⁵ le sixième, Jithréam, d'Egla, femme de David. Ce sont là ceux qui naquirent à David à Hébron.

KJV ⁵ And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

BAN ⁶ Et pendant la guerre entre la maison de Saül et la maison de David, Abner tenait ferme pour la maison de Saül.

KJV ⁶ And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.

BAN ⁷ Et Saül avait eu une concubine nommée Ritspa, fille d'Ajja. Et [Isboseth] dit à Abner : Pourquoi es-tu venu vers la concubine de mon père ?

KJV ⁷ And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?

BAN ⁸ Et Abner fut très irrité des paroles d'Isboseth, et il dit : Suis-je une tête de chien appartenant à Juda ? Aujourd'hui je rends service à la maison de Saül, ton père, à ses frères et à ses amis, et je ne t'ai pas abandonné à David ; et aujourd'hui tu me reproches une faute avec cette femme !

KJV ⁸ Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?

BAN ⁹ Qu'ainsi Dieu me fasse et qu'ainsi il y ajoute si je ne fais à David comme l'Eternel le lui a juré,

KJV ⁹ So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;

BAN ¹⁰ en enlevant la royauté à la maison de Saül et en établissant le trône de David sur Israël et sur Juda depuis Dan jusqu'à Béerséba !

KJV ¹⁰ To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.

BAN ¹¹ Et il ne put répondre un seul mot à Abner, parce qu'il avait peur de lui.

KJV ¹¹ And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.

BAN ¹² Et Abner envoya des messagers vers David pour lui dire de sa part : A qui est le pays ? et ajoutant : Fais alliance avec moi, et alors ma main sera avec toi pour tourner vers toi tout Israël.

KJV ¹² And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

BAN ¹³ Et il dit : Bien ! Je ferai alliance avec toi ; seulement je te demande une chose, c'est que tu ne te présentes pas devant moi sans amener Mical, fille de Saül, quand tu paraîtras devant moi.

KJV ¹³ And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

BAN ¹⁴ Et David envoya des messagers vers Isboseth, fils de Saül, pour lui dire : Rends-moi ma femme Mical que j'ai épousée pour le prix de cent prépuces de Philistins.

KJV ¹⁴ And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

BAN ¹⁵ Et Isboseth la fit prendre à son mari, Paltiel, fils de Laïs.

KJV ¹⁵ And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.

BAN ¹⁶ Et son mari l'accompagna en pleurant derrière elle jusqu'à Bahurim ; et Abner lui dit : Va, retourne-t-en ! Et il s'en retourna.

KJV ¹⁶ And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.

BAN ¹⁷ Et Abner entra en pourparlers avec les Anciens d'Israël et leur dit : Depuis longtemps déjà vous avez désiré d'avoir David pour roi.

KJV ¹⁷ And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:

BAN ¹⁸ Et maintenant faites ! Car l'Eternel a dit à David : C'est par la main de David, mon serviteur, que je délivrerai Israël, mon peuple, de la main des Philistins et de la main de tous ses ennemis.

KJV ¹⁸ Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

BAN ¹⁹ Et Abner s'entendit de même avec Benjamin et alla communiquer à David à Hébron tout ce qu'avaient décidé Israël et toute la maison de Benjamin.

KJV ¹⁹ And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.

BAN ²⁰ Et Abner arriva auprès de David, à Hébron, accompagné de vingt hommes, et David fit un festin à Abner et aux hommes qui étaient avec lui,

KJV ²⁰ So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.

BAN ²¹ Et Abner dit à David : Je m'en vais rassembler tout Israël vers mon seigneur le roi ; ils feront alliance avec toi, et tu règneras sur tout ce que ton âme désire. Et David congédia Abner qui s'en alla en paix.

KJV ²¹ And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.

BAN ²² Cependant les serviteurs de David et Joab revenaient d'une course et ramenaient avec eux un grand butin ; et Abner n'était plus auprès de David à Hébron, car David l'avait congédié et il s'en était allé en paix.

KJV ²² And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

BAN ²³ Et Joab et toute la troupe qui était avec lui arrivèrent, et on fit ce rapport à Joab : Abner, fils de Ner, est venu vers le roi, et il l'a congédié, et il s'en est allé en paix.

KJV ²³ When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

BAN ²⁴ Et Joab se rendit chez le roi et dit : Qu'as-tu fait ? Voilà qu'Abner est venu vers toi ; pourquoi l'as-tu congédié et laissé partir ?

KJV ²⁴ Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?

BAN ²⁵ Tu connais Abner, fils de Ner : c'est pour te tromper qu'il est venu, pour épier tes allées et tes venues et pour savoir tout ce que tu fais.

KJV ²⁵ Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

BAN ²⁶ Et Joab étant sorti d'auprès de David envoya des messagers après Abner, qui le ramenèrent depuis la citerne de Sira, et David ne le savait pas.

KJV ²⁶ And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.

BAN ²⁷ Quand Abner fut de retour à Hébron, Joab le tira à l'écart dans l'intérieur de la porte, pour lui parler en secret, et là il le frappa au ventre, et il mourut, à cause du sang d'Asaël, frère de Joab.

KJV ²⁷ And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

BAN ²⁸ Et David l'apprit ensuite et il dit : Je suis à jamais innocent devant l'Eternel, moi et mon royaume, du sang d'Abner, fils de Ner.

KJV ²⁸ And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

BAN ²⁹ Que ce sang retombe sur la tête de Joab et sur toute la maison de son père ! Que la maison de Joab ne soit jamais sans un homme qui souffre d'un flux ou de la lèpre, ou qui s'appuie sur un bâton, ou qui tombe par l'épée, ou qui manque de pain !

KJV ²⁹ Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.

BAN ³⁰ Joab et Abisaï, son frère, avaient tué Abner parce qu'il avait donné la mort à Asaël, leur frère, à Gabaon, dans le combat.

KJV ³⁰ So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

BAN ³¹ Et David dit à Joab et à tout le peuple qui était avec lui : Déchirez vos vêtements, ceignez-vous de sacs, et marchez en menant le deuil devant Abner. Et le roi David marchait derrière le cercueil.

KJV ³¹ And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.

BAN ³² Et on enterra Abner à Hébron, et le roi pleura à haute voix sur le tombeau d'Abner et tout le peuple pleura.

KJV ³² And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

BAN ³³ Et le roi fit une complainte sur Abner et dit :
Abner devait-il mourir comme meurt un insensé ?

KJV ³³ And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

BAN ³⁴ Tes mains n'étaient pas liées
Et tes pieds n'étaient pas dans des chaînes !
Tu es tombé comme on tombe devant les assassins !

Et tout le peuple continua à pleurer sur lui,

KJV ³⁴ Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.

BAN ³⁵ et tout le peuple vint vers David pour lui faire prendre de la nourriture avant la fin du jour. Et David jura, disant : Que Dieu me fasse ainsi et qu'ainsi il y ajoute, si je goûte du pain ou quoi que ce soit avant le coucher du soleil !

KJV ³⁵ And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.

BAN ³⁶ Et tout le peuple le sut et l'approuva, comme il approuvait tout ce que faisait le roi.

KJV ³⁶ And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.

BAN ³⁷ Et tout le peuple et tout Israël comprirent en ce jour que le roi n'était pour rien dans le meurtre d'Abner, fils de Ner.

KJV ³⁷ For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.

BAN ³⁸ Et le roi dit à ses serviteurs : Ne savez-vous pas qu'un prince et un grand chef, est tombé aujourd'hui en Israël ?

KJV ³⁸ And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

BAN ³⁹ Et pour moi, je suis encore faible, quoique j'aie reçu l'onction royale ; et ces hommes, les fils de Tséruja, sont trop forts pour moi. Que l'Eternel rende à celui qui fait le mal, selon le mal qu'il a fait !

KJV ³⁹ And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

BAN ¹ Lorsque le fils de Saül apprit qu'Abner était mort à Hébron, ses mains devinrent lâches, et tout Israël fut consterné.

KJV ¹ And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

BAN ² Et le fils de Saül avait deux hommes, chefs de bandes, dont l'un s'appelait Baana et l'autre Récab ; ils étaient fils de Rimmon, de Bééroth, d'entre les fils de Benjamin : car Bééroth encore est comptée comme étant de Benjamin ;

KJV ² And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.

BAN ³ et les Béérothiens avaient fui à Guitthaïm, et ils y ont séjourné jusqu'à présent.

KJV ³ And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

BAN ⁴ Et Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des deux pieds ; il avait cinq ans lorsqu'on apprit de Jizréel le sort de Saül et de Jonathan ; sa nourrice l'avait pris et s'était enfuie, et dans la précipitation qu'elle mit à fuir il tomba et devint boiteux ; son nom était Méphiboseth.

KJV ⁴ And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

BAN ⁵ Et les fils de Rimmon de Bééroth, Récab et Baana, vinrent et entrèrent, au chaud du jour, dans la maison d'Isboseth, qui faisait sa méridienne.

KJV ⁵ And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

BAN ⁶ Et ils pénétrèrent jusqu'au milieu de la maison, pour prendre du blé, et le frappèrent au ventre ; puis Récab et Baana, son frère, se sauvèrent.

KJV ⁶ And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

BAN ⁷ Ils entrèrent dans la maison pendant qu'il reposait sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, et ils le frappèrent et le tuèrent, et lui coupèrent la tête ; et ils prirent sa tête et marchèrent par le chemin de la Plaine toute la nuit.

KJV ⁷ For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

BAN ⁸ Et ils apportèrent la tête d'Isboseth à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi : Voici la tête d'Isboseth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi qui cherchait ta vie ; l'Eternel a vengé aujourd'hui le roi, mon seigneur, de Saül et de sa race.

KJV ⁸ And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

BAN ⁹ Et David répondit à Récab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Rimmon de Bééroth : L'Eternel, qui a délivré ma vie de tout péril est vivant !

KJV ⁹ And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

BAN ¹⁰ Celui qui est venu me dire : Voici, Saül est mort ! et qui croyait m'apporter une bonne nouvelle, je l'ai fait saisir et tuer à Tsiklag, pour prix de sa bonne nouvelle ;

KJV ¹⁰ When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

BAN ¹¹ et quand de méchants hommes ont tué un homme innocent dans sa maison, sur sa couche, ne redemanderai-je pas son sang de vos mains et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre ?

KJV ¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

BAN ¹² Et David ordonna à ses gens de les tuer ; et ils leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds et [les] pendirent au bord de l'étang d'Hébron. Et ils prirent la tête d'Isboseth et l'enterrèrent dans le tombeau d'Abner à Hébron.

KJV ¹² And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

BAN ¹ Et toutes les tribus d'Israël vinrent auprès de David, à Hébron, et lui dirent : Nous voici ; nous sommes tes os et ta chair.

KJV ¹ Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

BAN ² Ci-devant déjà, lorsque Saül était notre roi, c'est toi qui menais et ramenais Israël, et l'Eternel t'a dit : C'est toi qui seras le berger de mon peuple d'Israël, et c'est toi qui seras le prince d'Israël.

KJV ² Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

BAN ³ Et tous les Anciens d'Israël vinrent vers le roi à Hébron, et le roi David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l'Eternel, et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.

KJV ³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

BAN ⁴ David avait trente ans lorsqu'il devint roi ; il règna quarante ans.

KJV ⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

BAN ⁵ Il régna à Hébron sur Juda sept ans et six mois, et à Jérusalem trente-trois ans sur tout Israël et Juda.

KJV ⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

BAN ⁶ Et le roi marcha avec ses hommes sur Jérusalem, contre les Jébusiens qui habitaient le pays. Et ils dirent à David : Tu n'entreras pas ici, à moins que tu n'aies repoussé les aveugles et les boiteux ! C'était pour dire : David n'entrera point ici.

KJV ⁶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

BAN ⁷ Et David s'empara de la forteresse de Sion : c'est la cité de David.

KJV ⁷ Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

BAN ⁸ Et David dit ce jour-là : Quiconque battra les Jébusiens et atteindra les créneaux, et les boiteux et les aveugles, ennemis de David... C'est pourquoi l'on dit : L'aveugle et le boiteux n'entreront point dans la maison.

KJV ⁸ And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

BAN ⁹ Et David s'établit dans la forteresse et l'appela cité de David. Et David bâtit tout à l'entour, depuis Millo et au-dedans.

KJV ⁹ So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

BAN ¹⁰ Et David allait s'avançant et grandissant, et l'Eternel, Dieu des armées, était avec lui.

KJV ¹⁰ And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.
