KJV ² And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.

DRB ⁴ Et Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des pieds ; il était âgé de cinq ans lorsque le bruit touchant Saül et Jonathan vint de Jizreël ; et sa nourrice l'emporta, et s'enfuit ; et il arriva que, comme elle se hâtait de fuir, il tomba et devint boiteux ; et son nom était Mephibosheth*.

KJV ⁴ And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

DRB ⁵ Et les fils de Rimmon, le Beérothien, Récab et Baana, s'en allèrent et vinrent, pendant la chaleur du jour, dans la maison d'Ish-Bosheth ; et il était couché pour son repos de midi.

KJV ⁵ And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

DRB ⁸ Et ils apportèrent la tête d'Ish-Bosheth à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi : Voici la tête d'Ish-Bosheth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi qui cherchait ta vie ; et l'Éternel a donné en ce jour au roi, mon seigneur, d'être vengé de Saül et de sa race*.

DRB ¹⁰ que celui qui me rapporta, disant : Voici, Saül est mort ! et qui était à ses propres yeux comme un messager de bonnes nouvelles, je le saisis et le tuai à Tsiklag, lui donnant [ainsi] le salaire de sa bonne nouvelle :

KJV ¹⁰ When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

DRB ¹¹ combien plus, quand de méchants hommes ont tué un homme juste dans sa maison, sur son lit ! Et maintenant, ne redemanderai-je pas son sang de votre main ; et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre ?

KJV ¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

KJV ¹² And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

KJV ³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

DRB ⁴ David était âgé de trente ans lorsqu'il devint roi ; il régna quarante ans.

KJV ⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

KJV ⁶ And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

DRB ⁷ Mais David prit la forteresse de Sion ; c'est la ville de David.

KJV ⁷ Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

DRB ⁸ Et David dit en ce jour-là : Quiconque frappera les Jébusiens et atteindra le canal, et les boiteux et* les aveugles qui sont haïs de l'âme de David… ! C'est pourquoi on dit : L'aveugle et le boiteux n'entreront pas dans la maison.

KJV ⁸ And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

DRB ⁹ Et David habita dans la forteresse, et l'appela ville de David ; et David bâtit tout autour, depuis Millo* vers l'intérieur.

KJV ⁹ So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

WLC ¹¹ וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח חִירָ֨ם מֶֽלֶךְ־ צֹ֥ר מַלְאָכִים֮ אֶל־ דָּוִד֒ וַעֲצֵ֣י אֲרָזִ֔ים וְחָרָשֵׁ֣י עֵ֔ץ וְחָֽרָשֵׁ֖י אֶ֣בֶן קִ֑יר וַיִּבְנֽוּ־ בַ֖יִת לְדָוִֽד׃

DRB ¹² Et David connut que l'Éternel l'avait établi roi sur Israël, et qu'il avait élevé son royaume à cause de son peuple Israël.

KJV ¹² And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

VULC ¹² Et cognovit David quoniam confirmasset eum Dominus regem super Israël, et quoniam exaltasset regnum ejus super populum suum Israël.

WLC ¹² וַיֵּ֣דַע דָּוִ֔ד כִּֽי־ הֱכִינ֧וֹ יְהוָ֛ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְכִי֙ נִשֵּׂ֣א מַמְלַכְתּ֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

DRB ¹³ Et David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu'il fut venu de Hébron, et il naquit encore à David des fils et des filles.

KJV ¹³ And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

DRB ¹⁷ Et les Philistins apprirent qu'on avait oint David pour roi sur Israël, et tous les Philistins montèrent pour chercher David ; et David l'apprit, et descendit à la forteresse.

KJV ¹⁷ But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

DRB ¹⁸ Et les Philistins vinrent et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.

KJV ¹⁸ The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

DRB ¹⁹ Et David interrogea l'Éternel, disant : Monterai-je contre les Philistins ? Les livreras-tu en ma main ? Et l'Éternel dit à David : Monte, car certainement je livrerai les Philistins en ta main.

KJV ¹⁹ And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

DRB ²⁰ Et David vint à Baal-Peratsim ; et là David les frappa, et il dit : L'Éternel a fait une brèche au milieu de mes ennemis devant moi, comme une brèche faite par les eaux ; c'est pourquoi il appela le nom de ce lieu Baal-Peratsim*.

KJV ²⁰ And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

VULC ²⁰ Venit ergo David in Baal Pharasim : et percussit eos ibi, et dixit : Divisit Dominus inimicos meos coram me, sicut dividuntur aquæ. Propterea vocatum est nomen loci illius, Baal Pharasim.

DRB ²¹ Et ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, et David et ses hommes les emportèrent.

KJV ²¹ And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

VULC ²¹ Et reliquerunt ibi sculptilia sua, quæ tulit David et viri ejus.

WLC ²¹ וַיַּעַזְבוּ־ שָׁ֖ם אֶת־ עֲצַבֵּיהֶ֑ם וַיִּשָּׂאֵ֥ם דָּוִ֖ד וַאֲנָשָֽׁיו׃

KJV ²³ And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

VULC ²³ Consuluit autem David Dominum : Si ascendam contra Philisthæos, et tradas eos in manus meas ? Qui respondit : Non ascendas contra eos, sed gyra post tergum eorum, et venies ad eos ex adverso pyrorum.

DRB ²⁴ et aussitôt que tu entendras sur le sommet des mûriers un bruit de gens qui marchent, alors tu t'élanceras, car alors l'Éternel sera sorti devant toi pour frapper l'armée* des philistins.

KJV ²⁴ And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

VULC ²⁴ Et cum audieris sonitum gradientis in cacumine pyrorum, tunc inibis prælium : quia tunc egredietur Dominus ante faciem tuam, ut percutiat castra Philisthiim.

WLC ²⁴ וִ֠יהִי אֶת־ ק֧וֹל צְעָדָ֛ה בְּרָאשֵׁ֥י הַבְּכָאִ֖ים אָ֣ז תֶּחֱרָ֑ץ כִּ֣י אָ֗ז יָצָ֤א יְהוָה֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ לְהַכּ֖וֹת בְּמַחֲנֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

DRB ²⁵ Et David fit ainsi, comme l'Éternel lui avait commandé ; et il frappa les Philistins depuis Guéba jusqu'à ce que tu viennes vers Guézer.

KJV ²⁵ And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

VULC ²⁵ Fecit itaque David sicut præceperat ei Dominus, et percussit Philisthiim de Gabaa usque dum venias Gezer.
