2Th 3:7-12 (King James)

⁷ For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; ⁸ Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: ⁹ Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. ¹⁰ For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. ¹¹ For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. ¹² Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

⁷ Vous savez vous-mêmes comment il faut nous imiter, car nous ne nous sommes pas livrés au désordre parmi vous ⁸ et nous n'avons mangé gratuitement le pain de personne; au contraire, nuit et jour, dans la fatigue et dans la peine, nous avons travaillé pour n'être à la charge d'aucun de vous. ⁹ Non que nous n'en ayons pas le droit, mais nous avons voulu vous donner en nous-mêmes un modèle à imiter. ¹⁰ En effet, lorsque nous étions chez vous, nous vous recommandions ceci: si quelqu'un ne veut pas travailler, qu'il ne mange pas non plus. ¹¹ Nous apprenons cependant que quelques-uns parmi vous mènent une vie désordonnée: ils ne travaillent pas mais se mêlent des affaires des autres. ¹² Nous invitons ces gens-là, et nous les encourageons par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, à travailler paisiblement pour manger leur propre pain.
