⁷ Car ce n'est pas un esprit de pusillanimité que Dieu nous a donné, mais (un esprit) de force, d'amour et de maîtrise de soi. ⁸ N'aie donc pas honte du témoignage (à rendre) à notre Seigneur, ni de moi, son prisonnier ; mais prends ta part de souffrances pour l'Evangile, moyennant la force de Dieu,

⁷ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ⁸ Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
