   ¹⁹ Ceux donc qui avaient été dispersés par la tribulation qui arriva à l'occasion d'Étienne, passèrent jusqu'en Phénicie, et à Chypre, et à Antioche, n'annonçant la parole à personne, si ce n'est à des Juifs seulement. ²⁰ Mais quelques-uns d'entre eux étaient des Cypriotes et des Cyrénéens, qui, étant venus à Antioche, parlaient aussi aux Grecs, annonçant le seigneur Jésus ; ²¹ et la main du Seigneur était avec eux ; et un grand nombre, ayant cru, se tournèrent vers le Seigneur. ²² Et le bruit en* vint aux oreilles de l'assemblée qui était à Jérusalem ; et ils envoyèrent Barnabas pour passer jusqu'à Antioche ; ²³ lequel, y étant arrivé et ayant vu la grâce de Dieu, se réjouit ; et il les exhortait tous à demeurer [attachés] au Seigneur de tout leur cœur*, ²⁴ car il était homme de bien et plein de l'Esprit Saint et de foi ; et une grande foule fut ajoutée au Seigneur. ²⁵ Et il s'en alla à Tarse, pour chercher Saul ; et l'ayant trouvé, il le mena à Antioche. ²⁶ Et il leur arriva que, pendant un an tout entier, ils se réunirent dans l'assemblée et enseignèrent une grande foule, - et que ce fut à Antioche premièrement que les disciples furent nommés chrétiens.

   ¹⁹ Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. ²⁰ And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus. ²¹ And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. ²² Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. ²³ Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. ²⁴ For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. ²⁵ Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: ²⁶ And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

   ¹⁹ Et illi quidem qui dispersi fuerant a tribulatione quæ facta fuerat sub Stephano, perambulaverunt usque Phœnicen, et Cyprum, et Antiochiam, nemini loquentes verbum, nisi solis Judæis.
   ²⁰ Erant autem quidam ex eis viri Cyprii et Cyrenæi, qui cum introissent Antiochiam, loquebantur et ad Græcos, annuntiantes Dominum Jesum.
   ²¹ Et erat manus Domini cum eis : multusque numerus credentium conversus est ad Dominum.
   ²² Pervenit autem sermo ad aures ecclesiæ quæ erat Jerosolymis super istis : et miserunt Barnabam usque ad Antiochiam.
   ²³ Qui cum pervenisset, et vidisset gratiam Dei, gavisus est : et hortabatur omnes in proposito cordis permanere in Domino :
   ²⁴ quia erat vir bonus, et plenus Spiritu Sancto, et fide. Et apposita est multa turba Domino.
   ²⁵ Profectus est autem Barnabas Tarsum, ut quæreret Saulum : quem cum invenisset, perduxit Antiochiam.
   ²⁶ Et annum totum conversati sunt ibi in ecclesia : et docuerunt turbam multam, ita ut cognominarentur primum Antiochiæ discipuli, christiani.
