Am 2:9-16 (King James)

   ⁹ Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. ¹⁰ Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. ¹¹ And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD. ¹² But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. ¹³ Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. ¹⁴ Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: ¹⁵ Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. ¹⁶ And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

   ⁹ Et moi, j'ai détruit devant eux l'Amoréen, qui était haut comme les cèdres, et fort comme les chênes; j'ai détruit son fruit en haut, et ses racines en bas; ¹⁰ Je vous ai fait monter du pays d'Égypte et je vous ai conduits dans le désert quarante ans, pour posséder la terre de l'Amoréen; ¹¹ J'ai suscité des prophètes parmi vos fils, et des nazariens parmi vos jeunes hommes. N'en est-il pas ainsi, enfants d'Israël? dit l'Éternel. ¹² Mais vous avez fait boire du vin aux nazariens, et vous avez fait défense aux prophètes, disant: Ne prophétisez pas! ¹³ Voici, je vais vous fouler, comme foule un char plein de gerbes; ¹⁴ L'homme agile ne pourra fuir, le fort ne trouvera pas sa force, et l'homme vaillant ne sauvera point sa vie; ¹⁵ Celui qui manie l'arc ne tiendra pas, celui qui a les pieds légers n'échappera point, celui qui monte le cheval ne sauvera pas sa vie; ¹⁶ Et le plus courageux entre les vaillants s'enfuira nu en ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel.

   ⁹ Ego autem exterminavi Amorrhæum a facie eorum,
cujus altitudo, cedrorum altitudo ejus,
et fortis ipse quasi quercus ;
et contrivi fructum ejus desuper,
et radices ejus subter.
   ¹⁰ Ego sum qui ascendere vos feci de terra Ægypti,
et duxi vos in deserto quadraginta annis,
ut possideretis terram Amorrhæi.
   ¹¹ Et suscitavi de filiis vestris in prophetas,
et de juvenibus vestris nazaræos.
Numquid non ita est, filii Israël ? dicit Dominus.
   ¹² Et propinabitis nazaræis vinum,
et prophetis mandabitis, dicentes :
Ne prophetetis.
   ¹³ Ecce ego stridebo subter vos,
sicut stridet plaustrum onustum fœno.
   ¹⁴ Et peribit fuga a veloce,
et fortis non obtinebit virtutem suam,
et robustus non salvabit animam suam :
   ¹⁵ et tenens arcum non stabit,
et velox pedibus suis non salvabitur,
et ascensor equi non salvabit animam suam :
   ¹⁶ et robustus corde inter fortes nudus fugiet in illa die,
dicit Dominus.]
