KJV ² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

VULC ² et tradidit Dominus in manu ejus Joakim, regem Juda, et partem vasorum domus Dei : et asportavit ea in terram Sennaar in domum dei sui, et vasa intulit in domum thesauri dei sui.

BAN ³ Et le roi ordonna à Aspénaz, chef de ses eunuques, d'amener d'entre les enfants d'Israël de race royale ou des familles principales,

KJV ³ And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

VULC ³ Et ait rex Asphenez præposito eunuchorum ut introduceret de filiis Israël, et de semine regio et tyrannorum,

BAN ⁴ des jeunes gens sans aucun défaut, beaux de visage, doués de toute sorte de talents, instruits et intelligents, pleins de force, pour qu'ils se tinssent au palais du roi et qu'on leur apprît la littérature et la langue des Chaldéens.

KJV ⁴ Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

VULC ⁴ pueros in quibus nulla esset macula, decoros forma, et eruditos omni sapientia, cautos scientia, et doctos disciplina, et qui possent stare in palatio regis, ut doceret eos litteras et linguam Chaldæorum.

BAN ⁵ Le roi voulut qu'on leur donnât chaque jour une portion des mets de la table royale et du vin dont il buvait et qu'on les élevât pendant trois ans pour qu'au bout de ce temps ils se tinssent devant le roi.

KJV ⁵ And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

VULC ⁵ Et constituit eis rex annonam per singulos dies de cibis suis, et de vino unde bibebat ipse, ut enutriti tribus annis, postea starent in conspectu regis.

BAN ⁶ Et il y avait parmi eux, d'entre les enfants de Juda, Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria ;

KJV ⁶ Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

BAN ⁷ et le chef des eunuques leur donna des noms ; il appela Daniel Beltsatsar, Hanania Sadrac, Misaël Mésac et Azaria Abed-Négo.

KJV ⁷ Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

VULC ⁷ Et imposuit eis præpositus eunuchorum nomina : Danieli, Baltassar ; Ananiæ, Sidrach ; Misaëli, Misach ; et Azariæ, Abdenago.

BAN ⁸ Et Daniel résolut en son coeur de ne pas se souiller par les mets du roi et par le vin dont il buvait, et il pria le chef des eunuques de ne pas l'obliger à se souiller.

KJV ⁸ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

VULC ⁸ Proposuit autem Daniel in corde suo ne pollueretur de mensa regis, neque de vino potus ejus : et rogavit eunuchorum præpositum ne contaminaretur.

BAN ⁹ Et Dieu fit trouver à Daniel faveur et grâce auprès du chef des eunuques.

KJV ⁹ Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

VULC ⁹ Dedit autem Deus Danieli gratiam et misericordiam in conspectu principis eunuchorum.

BAN ¹⁰ Et le chef des eunuques dit à Daniel : Je crains le roi mon maître qui a fixé ce que vous devez manger et boire ; pourquoi verrait-il vos visages plus défaits que ceux des jeunes gens de votre âge ? Vous mettriez ma tête en danger auprès du roi.

KJV ¹⁰ And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.

VULC ¹⁰ Et ait princeps eunuchorum ad Danielem : Timeo ego dominum meum regem, qui constituit vobis cibum et potum : qui si viderit vultus vestros macilentiores præ ceteris adolescentibus coævis vestris, condemnabitis caput meum regi.

BAN ¹¹ Alors Daniel dit au maître d'hôtel auquel le chef des eunuques avait remis Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria :

KJV ¹¹ Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,

VULC ¹¹ Et dixit Daniel ad Malasar, quem constituerat princeps eunuchorum super Danielem, Ananiam, Misaëlem, et Azariam :

BAN ¹² Fais donc un essai avec tes serviteurs pendant dix jours, et qu'on nous donne des légumes à manger et de l'eau à boire.

KJV ¹² Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

VULC ¹² Tenta nos, obsecro, servos tuos, diebus decem, et dentur nobis legumina ad vescendum, et aqua ad bibendum :

BAN ¹³ Après cela tu regarderas notre visage et celui des jeunes gens qui mangent les mets du roi et selon que tu auras vu, tu agiras envers tes serviteurs.

KJV ¹³ Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.

VULC ¹³ et contemplare vultus nostros, et vultus puerorum, qui vescuntur cibo regio : et sicut videris, facies cum servis tuis.

BAN ¹⁴ Il leur accorda cela et les éprouva pendant dix jours.

KJV ¹⁴ So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

VULC ¹⁴ Qui, audito sermone hujuscemodi, tentavit eos diebus decem.

BAN ¹⁵ Et au bout de dix jours ils se trouvèrent avoir meilleur visage et plus d'embonpoint que tous les jeunes gens qui mangeaient les mets du roi.

KJV ¹⁵ And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

VULC ¹⁵ Post dies autem decem, apparuerunt vultus eorum meliores, et corpulentiores præ omnibus pueris, qui vescebantur cibo regio.

BAN ¹⁶ Et ainsi le maître d'hôtel emportait la nourriture et le vin qui leur étaient destinés et leur donnait des légumes.

KJV ¹⁶ Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.

VULC ¹⁶ Porro Malasar tollebat cibaria, et vinum potus eorum : dabatque eis legumina.

BAN ¹⁷ Et à ces jeunes gens, à tous les quatre, Dieu donna du savoir et de l'entente dans toute la littérature et les arts ; et Daniel avait l'intelligence de toutes sortes de visions et de songes.

KJV ¹⁷ As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

VULC ¹⁷ Pueris autem his dedit Deus scientiam et disciplinam, in omni libro et sapientia : Danieli autem intelligentiam omnium visionum et somniorum.

BAN ¹⁸ Et au bout du temps fixé par le roi pour les amener, le chef des eunuques les amena devant Nébucadnetsar.

KJV ¹⁸ Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

VULC ¹⁸ Completis itaque diebus, post quos dixerat rex ut introducerentur, introduxit eos præpositus eunuchorum in conspectu Nabuchodonosor.

BAN ¹⁹ Le roi s'entretint avec eux, et entre tous il ne s'en trouva point comme Daniel, Hanania, Misaël et Azaria ; ils se tinrent donc devant le roi.

KJV ¹⁹ And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

VULC ¹⁹ Cumque eis locutus fuisset rex, non sunt inventi tales de universis, ut Daniel, Ananias, Misaël, et Azarias : et steterunt in conspectu regis.

BAN ²⁰ Et sur tous les sujets de science et d'intelligence sur lesquels le roi les interrogeait, il les trouvait dix fois supérieurs à tous les lettrés et magiciens de son royaume.

KJV ²⁰ And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

VULC ²⁰ Et omne verbum sapientiæ et intellectus, quod sciscitatus est ab eis rex, invenit in eis decuplum super cunctos ariolos et magos qui erant in universo regno ejus.

BAN ²¹ Et Daniel fut ainsi jusqu'à la première année du roi Cyrus.

KJV ²¹ And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.

VULC ²¹ Fuit autem Daniel usque ad annum primum Cyri regis.

BAN ¹ La seconde année du règne de Nébucadnetsar, Nébucadnetsar ayant eu des songes, son esprit fut frappé et son sommeil fut interrompu.

KJV ¹ And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

VULC ¹ In anno secundo regni Nabuchodonosor, vidit Nabuchodonosor somnium, et conterritus est spiritus ejus, et somnium ejus fugit ab eo.

BAN ² Et le roi dit d'appeler les lettrés, les magiciens, les enchanteurs et les Chaldéens pour expliquer au roi ces songes ; et ils vinrent et se tinrent devant le roi.

KJV ² Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

VULC ² Præcepit autem rex ut convocarentur arioli, et magi, et malefici, et Chaldæi, ut indicarent regi somnia sua. Qui cum venissent, steterunt coram rege.

BAN ³ Et le roi leur dit : J'ai fait un songe, et mon esprit est frappé, cherchant à connaître ce songe.

KJV ³ And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

VULC ³ Et dixit ad eos rex : Vidi somnium, et mente confusus ignoro quid viderim.

BAN ⁴ Les Chaldéens parlèrent au roi en araméen :
O roi, vis éternellement ! Dis le songe à tes serviteurs, et nous en ferons savoir la signification.

KJV ⁴ Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

VULC ⁴ Responderuntque Chaldæi regi syriace : Rex, in sempiternum vive ! dic somnium servis tuis, et interpretationem ejus indicabimus.

BAN ⁵ Le roi répondit et dit aux Chaldéens : C'est chose arrêtée par moi. Si vous ne me faites savoir le songe et ce qu'il signifie, vous serez mis en pièces et vos maisons seront réduites en cloaques.

KJV ⁵ The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

VULC ⁵ Et respondens rex ait Chaldæis : Sermo recessit a me : nisi indicaveritis mihi somnium, et conjecturam ejus, peribitis vos, et domus vestræ publicabuntur.

BAN ⁶ Mais si vous me dites le songe et ce qu'il signifie, vous recevrez de moi dons, récompenses et grands honneurs : ainsi dites-moi le songe et ce qu'il signifie.

KJV ⁶ But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

VULC ⁶ Si autem somnium, et conjecturam ejus narraveritis, præmia, et dona, et honorem multum accipietis a me. Somnium igitur, et interpretationem ejus indicate mihi.

BAN ⁷ Ils répondirent pour la seconde fois et dirent : Que le roi dise le songe à ses serviteurs, et nous en ferons savoir la signification.

KJV ⁷ They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

VULC ⁷ Responderunt secundo, atque dixerunt : Rex somnium dicat servis suis, et interpretationem illius indicabimus.

BAN ⁸ Le roi répondit et dit : A coup sûr, je sais que vous cherchez à gagner du temps, parce que vous voyez que c'est chose arrêtée par moi.

KJV ⁸ The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

VULC ⁸ Respondit rex, et ait : Certe novi quod tempus redimitis, scientes quod recesserit a me sermo.

BAN ⁹ Car puisque vous ne me faites pas savoir le songe, c'est que vous avez une seule pensée : de préparer un discours mensonger et trompeur à me dire, en attendant que les temps changent ; ainsi dites-moi le songe, et je saurai que vous m'en aurez fait connaître la signification.

KJV ⁹ But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

VULC ⁹ Si ergo somnium non indicaveritis mihi, una est de vobis sententia, quod interpretationem quoque fallacem, et deceptione plenam composueritis, ut loquamini mihi donec tempus pertranseat. Somnium itaque dicite mihi, ut sciam quod interpretationem quoque ejus veram loquamini.

BAN ¹⁰ Les Chaldéens répondirent devant le roi et dirent : Il n'y a pas d'homme sur la terre qui puisse faire savoir ce que le roi demande. Aussi jamais roi, si grand et si puissant qu'il ait été, n'a demandé chose pareille d'aucun lettré, devin ou Chaldéen.

KJV ¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

VULC ¹⁰ Respondentes ergo Chaldæi coram rege, dixerunt : Non est homo super terram, qui sermonem tuum, rex, possit implere : sed neque regum quisquam magnus et potens verbum hujuscemodi sciscitatur ab omni ariolo, et mago, et Chaldæo.

BAN ¹¹ La chose que le roi demande est difficile, et il n'y a personne qui puisse la révéler au roi, hormis les dieux dont la demeure n'est pas parmi les mortels.

KJV ¹¹ And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

VULC ¹¹ Sermo enim, quem tu quæris, rex, gravis est : nec reperietur quisquam qui indicet illum in conspectu regis, exceptis diis, quorum non est cum hominibus conversatio.

BAN ¹² Là-dessus le roi se mit en colère et en grande fureur, et il dit qu'on fit périr tous les sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹² For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

VULC ¹² Quo audito, rex, in furore et in ira magna, præcepit ut perirent omnes sapientes Babylonis.

BAN ¹³ La sentence ayant été publiée, on tuait les sages et on cherchait Daniel et ses compagnons pour les tuer.

KJV ¹³ And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

VULC ¹³ Et egressa sententia, sapientes interficiebantur : quærebanturque Daniel et socii ejus, ut perirent.

BAN ¹⁴ Alors Daniel fit une réponse prudente et sensée à Arjoc, le chef des gardes du roi, lequel était sorti pour tuer les sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹⁴ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

VULC ¹⁴ Tunc Daniel requisivit de lege atque sententia ab Arioch principe militiæ regis, qui egressus fuerat ad interficiendos sapientes Babylonis.

BAN ¹⁵ Il répondit et dit à Arjoc, commissaire du roi : Pourquoi cette sentence subite de la part du roi ? Alors Arjoc fit savoir la chose à Daniel.

KJV ¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

VULC ¹⁵ Et interrogavit eum, qui a rege potestatem acceperat, quam ob causam tam crudelis sententia a facie regis esset egressa. Cum ergo rem indicasset Arioch Danieli,

BAN ¹⁶ Alors Daniel entra et pria le roi de lui donner du temps et qu'il ferait savoir au roi la signification.

KJV ¹⁶ Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

VULC ¹⁶ Daniel ingressus rogavit regem ut tempus daret sibi ad solutionem indicandam regi.

BAN ¹⁷ Alors Daniel alla dans la maison et informa de la chose Hanania, Misaël et Azaria, ses compagnons,

KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

VULC ¹⁷ Et ingressus est domum suam, Ananiæque et Misaëli et Azariæ, sociis suis, indicavit negotium,

BAN ¹⁸ afin d'implorer la miséricorde du Dieu des cieux au sujet de ce secret, pour qu'on ne fit point périr Daniel et ses compagnons avec le reste des sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

VULC ¹⁸ ut quærerent misericordiam a facie Dei cæli super sacramento isto, et non perirent Daniel et socii ejus cum ceteris sapientibus Babylonis.

BAN ¹⁹ Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel dans une vision pendant la nuit. Alors Daniel bénit le Dieu des cieux.

KJV ¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

VULC ¹⁹ Tunc Danieli mysterium per visionem nocte revelatum est : et benedixit Daniel Deum cæli,

BAN ²⁰ Daniel prit la parole et dit : Que le nom de Dieu soit béni d'éternité en éternité, car c'est à lui qu'est la sagesse et la force.

KJV ²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

VULC ²⁰ et locutus ait : Sit nomen Domini benedictum a sæculo et usque in sæculum : quia sapientia et fortitudo ejus sunt.

BAN ²¹ C'est lui qui change les moments et les temps, qui dépose les rois et qui les élève, qui donne la sagesse aux sages et le savoir aux intelligents.

KJV ²¹ And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

VULC ²¹ Et ipse mutat tempora, et ætates : transfert regna, atque constituit : dat sapientiam sapientibus, et scientiam intelligentibus disciplinam.

BAN ²² C'est lui qui révèle les choses profondes et cachées, qui connaît ce qui est dans les ténèbres et la lumière demeure avec lui.

KJV ²² He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

VULC ²² Ipse revelat profunda et abscondita, et novit in tenebris constituta : et lux cum eo est.

BAN ²³ C'est toi, Dieu de mes pères, que je célèbre et que je loue de ce que tu m'as donné de la sagesse et de la force, et de ce que maintenant tu m'as fait connaître ce que nous avons demandé, en nous révélant l'affaire du roi.

KJV ²³ I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

VULC ²³ Tibi, Deus patrum nostrorum, confiteor, teque laudo, quia sapientiam et fortitudinem dedisti mihi, et nunc ostendisti mihi quæ rogavimus te, quia sermonem regis aperuisti nobis.

BAN ²⁴ Là-dessus Daniel entra vers Arjoc, que le roi avait chargé de faire périr les sages de Babylone ; il alla et lui parla ainsi : Ne fais pas périr les sages de Babylone ; fais-moi entrer devant le roi, et je donnerai au roi l'explication.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

VULC ²⁴ Post hæc Daniel ingressus ad Arioch, quem constituerat rex ut perderet sapientes Babylonis, sic ei locutus est : Sapientes Babylonis ne perdas : introduc me in conspectu regis, et solutionem regi narrabo.

BAN ²⁵ Alors Arjoc fit entrer en toute hâte Daniel auprès du roi et lui parla ainsi : J'ai trouvé un homme d'entre les captifs de Juda qui donnera au roi l'explication.

KJV ²⁵ Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

VULC ²⁵ Tunc Arioch festinus introduxit Danielem ad regem, et dixit ei : Inveni hominem de filiis transmigrationis Juda, qui solutionem regi annuntiet.

BAN ²⁶ Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel, qui s'appelait Beltsatsar : Es-tu donc capable de me faire connaître le songe que j'ai eu et ce qu'il signifie ?

KJV ²⁶ The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

VULC ²⁶ Respondit rex, et dixit Danieli, cujus nomen erat Baltassar : Putasne vere potes mihi indicare somnium, quod vidi, et interpretationem ejus ?

BAN ²⁷ Daniel répondit en présence du roi et dit : Le secret que le roi demande, ni sages, ni magiciens, ni lettrés, ni astrologues, ne peuvent le découvrir au roi.

KJV ²⁷ Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

VULC ²⁷ Et respondens Daniel coram rege, ait : Mysterium, quod rex interrogat, sapientes, magi, arioli, et aruspices nequeunt indicare regi :

BAN ²⁸ Mais il y a un Dieu dans le ciel qui révèle les secrets et qui a fait connaître au roi Nébucadnetsar ce qui doit arriver dans la fin des jours. Ton songe et les visions qu'a eues ta tête sur ta couche, les voici :

KJV ²⁸ But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

VULC ²⁸ sed est Deus in cælo revelans mysteria, qui indicavit tibi, rex Nabuchodonosor, quæ ventura sunt in novissimis temporibus. Somnium tuum, et visiones capitis tui in cubili tuo hujuscemodi sunt.

BAN ²⁹ Toi, ô roi, des pensées s'élevaient en toi, sur ta couche, au sujet de ce qui devait arriver ci-après, et celui qui révèle les secrets t'a fait connaître ce qui doit arriver.

KJV ²⁹ As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

BAN ³⁰ Et moi, ce n'est pas par une sagesse qui soit en moi plus qu'en aucun des vivants que ce secret m'a été révélé, mais c'est afin que l'explication en soit donnée au roi et que tu connaisses les pensées de ton coeur.

KJV ³⁰ But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

KJV ⁴¹ And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

KJV ⁴² And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

BAN ⁴³ Si tu as vu le fer mêlé d'argile, c'est qu'ils seront mêlés de semence d'homme, mais ils ne tiendront pas l'un à l'autre, de même que le fer ne se mêle pas avec l'argile.

KJV ⁴³ And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

KJV ⁴⁴ And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Le grand Dieu a fait connaitre au roi ce qui arrivera après ces temps-ci ; le songe est véritable et sa signification certaine.

KJV ⁴⁵ Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

KJV ⁴⁷ The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

BAN ⁴⁸ Alors le roi éleva Daniel et lui fit de nombreux et de riches présents ; il lui donna autorité sur toute la province de Babylone et le préposa en chef sur tous les sages de Babylone.

KJV ⁴⁸ Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

KJV ⁴⁹ Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
