KJV ²¹ And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

S21 ²¹ »Un homme méprisé prendra sa place sans qu'on lui ait donné la dignité royale. Il arrivera dans une période de tranquillité et s'emparera du royaume grâce à des intrigues.

WLC ²¹ וְעָמַ֤ד עַל־ כַּנּוֹ֙ נִבְזֶ֔ה וְלֹא־ נָתְנ֥וּ עָלָ֖יו ה֣וֹד מַלְכ֑וּת וּבָ֣א בְשַׁלְוָ֔ה וְהֶחֱזִ֥יק מַלְכ֖וּת בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃

KJV ²² And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

S21 ²² Les troupes qui déferleront comme un torrent seront submergées devant lui et brisées, de même que le chef de l'alliance.

WLC ²² וּזְרֹע֥וֹת הַשֶּׁ֛טֶף יִשָּׁטְפ֥וּ מִלְּפָנָ֖יו וְיִשָּׁבֵ֑רוּ וְגַ֖ם נְגִ֥יד בְּרִֽית׃

KJV ²³ And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

S21 ²³ Une fois qu'on se sera rallié à lui, il recourra à la tromperie. Il se mettra en marche et aura le dessus avec peu de monde.

WLC ²³ וּמִן־ הִֽתְחַבְּר֥וּת אֵלָ֖יו יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מִרְמָ֑ה וְעָלָ֥ה וְעָצַ֖ם בִּמְעַט־ גּֽוֹי׃

KJV ²⁴ He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

S21 ²⁴ Il pénétrera en toute tranquillité dans les endroits les plus fertiles de la province; il fera ce que n'avaient pas fait ses prédécesseurs ni ses ancêtres: il distribuera le butin, les biens et les richesses. Il formera des plans contre les forteresses, et cela pendant un certain temps.

WLC ²⁴ בְּשַׁלְוָ֞ה וּבְמִשְׁמַנֵּ֣י מְדִינָה֮ יָבוֹא֒ וְעָשָׂ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹא־ עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָיו֙ וַאֲב֣וֹת אֲבֹתָ֔יו בִּזָּ֧ה וְשָׁלָ֛ל וּרְכ֖וּשׁ לָהֶ֣ם יִבְז֑וֹר וְעַ֧ל מִבְצָרִ֛ים יְחַשֵּׁ֥ב מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֖יו וְעַד־ עֵֽת׃

KJV ²⁵ And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

S21 ²⁵ A la tête d'une grande armée, il déploiera sa force et son courage contre le roi du sud. Ce dernier s'engagera dans la guerre avec une grande et très puissante armée, mais il ne résistera pas, car on formera des plans contre lui:

WLC ²⁵ וְיָעֵר֩ כֹּח֨וֹ וּלְבָב֜וֹ עַל־ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּגֶב֮ בְּחַ֣יִל גָּדוֹל֒ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֗גֶב יִתְגָּרֶה֙ לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה בְּחַֽיִל־ גָּד֥וֹל וְעָצ֖וּם עַד־ מְאֹ֑ד וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֔ד כִּֽי־ יַחְשְׁב֥וּ עָלָ֖יו מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת׃

KJV ²⁶ Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.

S21 ²⁶ ceux qui mangeront des plats servis à sa table causeront sa perte. Son armée se dissoudra et les morts tomberont en grand nombre.

WLC ²⁶ וְאֹכְלֵ֧י פַת־ בָּג֛וֹ יִשְׁבְּר֖וּהוּ וְחֵיל֣וֹ יִשְׁט֑וֹף וְנָפְל֖וּ חֲלָלִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃

KJV ²⁷ And both of these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

S21 ²⁷ Les deux rois chercheront dans leur cœur à faire du mal, et à la même table ils parleront avec fausseté. Mais cela ne réussira pas, car la fin n'arrivera qu'au moment fixé.

WLC ²⁷ וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֤ם הַמְּלָכִים֙ לְבָבָ֣ם לְמֵרָ֔ע וְעַל־ שֻׁלְחָ֥ן אֶחָ֖ד כָּזָ֣ב יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ וְלֹ֣א תִצְלָ֔ח כִּי־ ע֥וֹד קֵ֖ץ לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃

KJV ²⁸ Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

S21 ²⁸ »Il retournera dans son pays avec de grandes richesses. Dans son cœur, il aura des intentions hostiles contre l'alliance sainte. Il agira contre elle avant de retourner dans son pays.

WLC ²⁸ וְיָשֹׁ֤ב אַרְצוֹ֙ בִּרְכ֣וּשׁ גָּד֔וֹל וּלְבָב֖וֹ עַל־ בְּרִ֣ית קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְעָשָׂ֖ה וְשָׁ֥ב לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃

KJV ²⁹ At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.

S21 ²⁹ Au moment fixé, il marchera de nouveau contre le sud, mais cette fois-là cela ne se passera pas comme la première fois.

WLC ²⁹ לַמּוֹעֵ֥ד יָשׁ֖וּב וּבָ֣א בַנֶּ֑גֶב וְלֹֽא־ תִהְיֶ֥ה כָרִאשֹׁנָ֖ה וְכָאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃

KJV ³⁰ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

S21 ³⁰ Des bateaux venus de l'ouest avanceront contre lui. Découragé, il rebroussera chemin, puis dans sa rage il agira contre l'alliance sainte. Il reviendra et traitera avec bienveillance ceux qui auront abandonné l'alliance sainte.

WLC ³⁰ וּבָ֨אוּ ב֜וֹ צִיִּ֤ים כִּתִּים֙ וְנִכְאָ֔ה וְשָׁ֛ב וְזָעַ֥ם עַל־ בְּרִֽית־ ק֖וֹדֶשׁ וְעָשָׂ֑ה וְשָׁ֣ב וְיָבֵ֔ן עַל־ עֹזְבֵ֖י בְּרִ֥ית קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

KJV ³¹ And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

S21 ³¹ Des troupes se présenteront sur son ordre et elles souilleront le sanctuaire, la forteresse. Elles feront cesser le sacrifice perpétuel et dresseront l'abominable dévastation.

WLC ³¹ וּזְרֹעִ֖ים מִמֶּ֣נּוּ יַעֲמֹ֑דוּ וְחִלְּל֞וּ הַמִּקְדָּ֤שׁ הַמָּעוֹז֙ וְהֵסִ֣ירוּ הַתָּמִ֔יד וְנָתְנ֖וּ הַשִּׁקּ֥וּץ מְשׁוֹמֵֽם׃

KJV ³² And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

S21 ³² Il corrompra par des flatteries ceux qui violent l'alliance, mais les membres du peuple qui connaîtront leur Dieu agiront avec fermeté,

WLC ³² וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י בְרִ֔ית יַחֲנִ֖יף בַּחֲלַקּ֑וֹת וְעַ֛ם יֹדְעֵ֥י אֱלֹהָ֖יו יַחֲזִ֥קוּ וְעָשֽׂוּ׃

KJV ³³ And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

S21 ³³ et les plus perspicaces donneront instruction à beaucoup. Ils se heurteront pour un temps à l'épée et à la flamme, à la déportation et au pillage.

WLC ³³ וּמַשְׂכִּ֣ילֵי עָ֔ם יָבִ֖ינוּ לָֽרַבִּ֑ים וְנִכְשְׁל֞וּ בְּחֶ֧רֶב וּבְלֶהָבָ֛ה בִּשְׁבִ֥י וּבְבִזָּ֖ה יָמִֽים׃

KJV ³⁴ Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

S21 ³⁴ Durant cette période ils recevront un peu d'aide et beaucoup se rallieront à eux de façon hypocrite.

WLC ³⁴ וּבְהִכָּ֣שְׁלָ֔ם יֵעָזְר֖וּ עֵ֣זֶר מְעָ֑ט וְנִלְו֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם רַבִּ֖ים בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת׃

KJV ³⁵ And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

S21 ³⁵ Quelques-uns des hommes perspicaces trébucheront afin d'être affinés, purifiés et épurés jusqu'au moment de la fin, car elle n'arrivera qu'au moment fixé.

WLC ³⁵ וּמִן־ הַמַּשְׂכִּילִ֣ים יִכָּֽשְׁל֗וּ לִצְר֥וֹף בָּהֶ֛ם וּלְבָרֵ֥ר וְלַלְבֵּ֖ן עַד־ עֵ֣ת קֵ֑ץ כִּי־ ע֖וֹד לַמּוֹעֵֽד׃

KJV ³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

S21 ³⁶ »Le roi fera ce qu'il voudra. Il sera plein d'arrogance, se grandira au-dessus de tous les dieux et prononcera des paroles extraordinaires contre le Dieu des dieux. Il prospérera jusqu'à ce que la colère soit à son comble, car ce qui est décidé s'accomplira.

WLC ³⁶ וְעָשָׂ֨ה כִרְצוֹנ֜וֹ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ וְיִתְרוֹמֵ֤ם וְיִתְגַּדֵּל֙ עַל־ כָּל־ אֵ֔ל וְעַל֙ אֵ֣ל אֵלִ֔ים יְדַבֵּ֖ר נִפְלָא֑וֹת וְהִצְלִ֙יחַ֙ עַד־ כָּ֣לָה זַ֔עַם כִּ֥י נֶחֱרָצָ֖ה נֶעֱשָֽׂתָה׃

KJV ³⁷ Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

S21 ³⁷ Il ne prêtera attention ni aux dieux de ses ancêtres, ni à celui que désirent les femmes. Il ne prêtera attention à aucun dieu, car il se grandira au-dessus de tous.

WLC ³⁷ וְעַל־ אֱלֹהֵ֤י אֲבֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יָבִ֔ין וְעַל־ חֶמְדַּ֥ת נָשִׁ֛ים וְעַֽל־ כָּל־ אֱל֖וֹהַּ לֹ֣א יָבִ֑ין כִּ֥י עַל־ כֹּ֖ל יִתְגַּדָּֽל׃

KJV ³⁸ But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

S21 ³⁸ C'est le dieu des forteresses qu'il honorera sur son piédestal. A ce dieu que ne connaissaient pas ses ancêtres, il rendra hommage avec de l'or et de l'argent, avec des pierres précieuses et des objets de valeur.

WLC ³⁸ וְלֶאֱלֹ֙הַּ֙ מָֽעֻזִּ֔ים עַל־ כַּנּ֖וֹ יְכַבֵּ֑ד וְלֶאֱל֜וֹהַּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹא־ יְדָעֻ֣הוּ אֲבֹתָ֗יו יְכַבֵּ֛ד בְּזָהָ֥ב וּבְכֶ֛סֶף וּבְאֶ֥בֶן יְקָרָ֖ה וּבַחֲמֻדֽוֹת׃

KJV ³⁹ Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

S21 ³⁹ C'est avec ce dieu étranger qu'il agira contre les endroits fortifiés, et il comblera d'honneurs ceux qui le reconnaîtront: il leur donnera la domination sur beaucoup et leur distribuera des terres en guise de récompense.

WLC ³⁹ וְעָשָׂ֞ה לְמִבְצְרֵ֤י מָֽעֻזִּים֙ עִם־ אֱל֣וֹהַּ נֵכָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַרְבֶּ֣ה כָב֑וֹד וְהִמְשִׁילָם֙ בָּֽרַבִּ֔ים וַאֲדָמָ֖ה יְחַלֵּ֥ק בִּמְחִֽיר׃

KJV ⁴⁰ And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

S21 ⁴⁰ »Au moment de la fin, le roi du sud l'affrontera, et le roi du nord fondra sur lui comme une tempête, avec des chars et des cavaliers, ainsi que de nombreux bateaux. Il pénétrera dans tous les pays, déferlera comme un torrent et débordera.

WLC ⁴⁰ וּבְעֵ֣ת קֵ֗ץ יִתְנַגַּ֤ח עִמּוֹ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הַנֶּ֔גֶב וְיִשְׂתָּעֵ֨ר עָלָ֜יו מֶ֣לֶךְ הַצָּפ֗וֹן בְּרֶ֙כֶב֙ וּבְפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים וּבָאֳנִיּ֖וֹת רַבּ֑וֹת וּבָ֥א בַאֲרָצ֖וֹת וְשָׁטַ֥ף וְעָבָֽר׃

KJV ⁴¹ He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

S21 ⁴¹ Il pénétrera dans le plus beau des pays et beaucoup trébucheront, mais voici ceux qui seront délivrés de son pouvoir: Edom, Moab et les principaux des Ammonites.

WLC ⁴¹ וּבָא֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הַצְּבִ֔י וְרַבּ֖וֹת יִכָּשֵׁ֑לוּ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ יִמָּלְט֣וּ מִיָּד֔וֹ אֱד֣וֹם וּמוֹאָ֔ב וְרֵאשִׁ֖ית בְּנֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹן׃

KJV ⁴² He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

S21 ⁴² Il étendra son pouvoir sur divers pays et l'Egypte n'y échappera pas:

WLC ⁴² וְיִשְׁלַ֥ח יָד֖וֹ בַּאֲרָצ֑וֹת וְאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם לֹ֥א תִהְיֶ֖ה לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃

KJV ⁴³ But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

S21 ⁴³ il se rendra maître des trésors d'or et d'argent et de tous les biens précieux de l'Egypte. Les Libyens et les Ethiopiens marcheront à sa suite.

WLC ⁴³ וּמָשַׁ֗ל בְּמִכְמַנֵּי֙ הַזָּהָ֣ב וְהַכֶּ֔סֶף וּבְכֹ֖ל חֲמֻד֣וֹת מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלֻבִ֥ים וְכֻשִׁ֖ים בְּמִצְעָדָֽיו׃

KJV ⁴⁴ But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

S21 ⁴⁴ Des nouvelles de l'est et du nord le troubleront et il partira, dans une grande colère, détruire et exterminer beaucoup d'hommes.

WLC ⁴⁴ וּשְׁמֻע֣וֹת יְבַהֲלֻ֔הוּ מִמִּזְרָ֖ח וּמִצָּפ֑וֹן וְיָצָא֙ בְּחֵמָ֣א גְדֹלָ֔ה לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד וּֽלְהַחֲרִ֖ים רַבִּֽים׃

KJV ⁴⁵ And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

S21 ⁴⁵ Il dressera les tentes de son palais entre les mers, vers la glorieuse et sainte montagne. Puis il arrivera à sa fin sans que personne ne l'aide.

WLC ⁴⁵ וְיִטַּע֙ אָהֳלֶ֣י אַפַּדְנ֔וֹ בֵּ֥ין יַמִּ֖ים לְהַר־ צְבִי־ קֹ֑דֶשׁ וּבָא֙ עַד־ קִצּ֔וֹ וְאֵ֥ין עוֹזֵ֖ר לֽוֹ׃
