KJV ¹⁴ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

KJV ¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

LSG ¹⁵ Il prit la parole et dit à Arjoc, commandant du roi: Pourquoi la sentence du roi est-elle si sévère ? Arjoc exposa la chose à Daniel.

VULC ¹⁵ Et interrogavit eum, qui a rege potestatem acceperat, quam ob causam tam crudelis sententia a facie regis esset egressa. Cum ergo rem indicasset Arioch Danieli,

KJV ¹⁶ Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

LSG ¹⁶ Et Daniel se rendit vers le roi, et le pria de lui accorder du temps pour donner au roi l'explication.

VULC ¹⁶ Daniel ingressus rogavit regem ut tempus daret sibi ad solutionem indicandam regi.

KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

LSG ¹⁷ Ensuite Daniel alla dans sa maison, et il instruisit de cette affaire Hanania, Mischaël et Azaria, ses compagnons,

VULC ¹⁷ Et ingressus est domum suam, Ananiæque et Misaëli et Azariæ, sociis suis, indicavit negotium,

KJV ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

LSG ¹⁸ les engageant à implorer la miséricorde du Dieu des cieux, afin qu'on ne fît pas périr Daniel et ses compagnons avec le reste des sages de Babylone.

VULC ¹⁸ ut quærerent misericordiam a facie Dei cæli super sacramento isto, et non perirent Daniel et socii ejus cum ceteris sapientibus Babylonis.

KJV ¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

LSG ¹⁹ Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel dans une vision pendant la nuit. Et Daniel bénit le Dieu des cieux.

VULC ¹⁹ Tunc Danieli mysterium per visionem nocte revelatum est : et benedixit Daniel Deum cæli,

KJV ²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

LSG ²⁰ Daniel prit la parole et dit: Béni soit le nom de Dieu, d'éternité en éternité ! A lui appartiennent la sagesse et la force.

VULC ²⁰ et locutus ait : Sit nomen Domini benedictum a sæculo et usque in sæculum : quia sapientia et fortitudo ejus sunt.

KJV ²¹ And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

LSG ²¹ C'est lui qui change les temps et les circonstances, qui renverse et qui établit les rois, qui donne la sagesse aux sages et la science à ceux qui ont de l'intelligence.

VULC ²¹ Et ipse mutat tempora, et ætates : transfert regna, atque constituit : dat sapientiam sapientibus, et scientiam intelligentibus disciplinam.

KJV ²² He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

LSG ²² Il révèle ce qui est profond et caché, il connaît ce qui est dans les ténèbres, et la lumière demeure avec lui.

VULC ²² Ipse revelat profunda et abscondita, et novit in tenebris constituta : et lux cum eo est.

KJV ²³ I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

LSG ²³ Dieu de mes pères, je te glorifie et je te loue de ce que tu m'as donné la sagesse et la force, et de ce que tu m'as fait connaître ce que nous t'avons demandé, de ce que tu nous as révélé le secret du roi.

VULC ²³ Tibi, Deus patrum nostrorum, confiteor, teque laudo, quia sapientiam et fortitudinem dedisti mihi, et nunc ostendisti mihi quæ rogavimus te, quia sermonem regis aperuisti nobis.
