KJV ¹⁴ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

KJV ¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

OST ¹⁵ Prenant la parole, il dit à Arioc, le grand officier du roi: Pourquoi cette sentence si sévère de la part du roi? Alors Arioc fit connaître l'affaire à Daniel.

VULC ¹⁵ Et interrogavit eum, qui a rege potestatem acceperat, quam ob causam tam crudelis sententia a facie regis esset egressa. Cum ergo rem indicasset Arioch Danieli,

KJV ¹⁶ Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

OST ¹⁶ Et Daniel entra et pria le roi de lui accorder du temps pour donner l'interprétation au roi.

VULC ¹⁶ Daniel ingressus rogavit regem ut tempus daret sibi ad solutionem indicandam regi.

KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

OST ¹⁷ Puis Daniel alla dans sa maison et informa de cette affaire Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria, ses compagnons,

VULC ¹⁷ Et ingressus est domum suam, Ananiæque et Misaëli et Azariæ, sociis suis, indicavit negotium,

KJV ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

OST ¹⁸ Pour implorer la miséricorde du Dieu des cieux touchant ce secret, afin qu'on ne fit point périr Daniel et ses compagnons, avec le reste des sages de Babylone.

VULC ¹⁸ ut quærerent misericordiam a facie Dei cæli super sacramento isto, et non perirent Daniel et socii ejus cum ceteris sapientibus Babylonis.

KJV ¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

OST ¹⁹ Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel, dans une vision, pendant la nuit. Et Daniel bénit le Dieu des cieux.

KJV ²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

OST ²⁰ Daniel prit la parole et dit: Béni soit le nom de Dieu, d'éternité en éternité; car c'est à lui qu'appartiennent la sagesse et la force!

VULC ²⁰ et locutus ait : Sit nomen Domini benedictum a sæculo et usque in sæculum : quia sapientia et fortitudo ejus sunt.

KJV ²¹ And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

OST ²¹ Et c'est lui qui change les temps et les moments; qui dépose les rois et qui les établit; qui donne la sagesse aux sages, et la science à ceux qui ont de l'intelligence.

VULC ²¹ Et ipse mutat tempora, et ætates : transfert regna, atque constituit : dat sapientiam sapientibus, et scientiam intelligentibus disciplinam.

KJV ²² He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

OST ²² C'est lui qui révèle les choses profondes et cachées. Il connaît ce qui est dans les ténèbres, et la lumière demeure avec lui.

VULC ²² Ipse revelat profunda et abscondita, et novit in tenebris constituta : et lux cum eo est.

KJV ²³ I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

OST ²³ O Dieu de mes pères! je te célèbre et je te loue de ce que tu m'as donné sagesse et force, et de ce que tu m'as fait connaître maintenant ce que nous t'avons demandé; car tu nous as révélé l'affaire du roi.

VULC ²³ Tibi, Deus patrum nostrorum, confiteor, teque laudo, quia sapientiam et fortitudinem dedisti mihi, et nunc ostendisti mihi quæ rogavimus te, quia sermonem regis aperuisti nobis.
