BCC ¹⁴ Alors Daniel fît une réponse prudente et sensée à Arioch, chef des gardes du roi, qui était sorti pour mettre à mort les sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹⁴ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

WLC ¹⁴ בֵּאדַ֣יִן דָּנִיֵּ֗אל הֲתִיב֙ עֵטָ֣א וּטְעֵ֔ם לְאַרְי֕וֹךְ רַב־ טַבָּחַיָּ֖א דִּ֣י מַלְכָּ֑א דִּ֚י נְפַ֣ק לְקַטָּלָ֔ה לְחַכִּימֵ֖י בָּבֶֽל׃

BCC ¹⁵ Il prît la parole et dit à Arioch, commandant du roi : « Pourquoi cette sentence sévère de la part du roi ? « Et Arioch exposa la chose à Daniel.

KJV ¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

WLC ¹⁵ עָנֵ֣ה וְאָמַ֗ר לְאַרְיוֹךְ֙ שַׁלִּיטָ֣א דִֽי־ מַלְכָּ֔א עַל־ מָ֥ה דָתָ֛א מְהַחְצְפָ֖ה מִן־ קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּ֑א אֱדַ֣יִן מִלְּתָ֔א הוֹדַ֥ע אַרְי֖וֹךְ לְדָנִיֵּֽאל׃

BCC ¹⁶ Alors Daniel entra dans le palais et pria le roi de lui accorder un délai afin de faire connaître au roi la signification.

KJV ¹⁶ Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

BCC ¹⁷ Aussitôt Daniel alla dans sa maison et informa de l'affaire Armorias, Misaël et Azarias, ses compagnons,

KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

WLC ¹⁷ אֱדַ֥יִן דָּֽנִיֵּ֖אל לְבַיְתֵ֣הּ אֲזַ֑ל וְ֠לַחֲנַנְיָה מִֽישָׁאֵ֧ל וַעֲזַרְיָ֛ה חַבְר֖וֹהִי מִלְּתָ֥א הוֹדַֽע׃

BCC ¹⁸ les engageant à implorer la miséricorde du Dieu du ciel sur ce mystère, pour qu'on ne fît point périr Daniel et ses compagnons avec le reste des sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

WLC ¹⁸ וְרַחֲמִ֗ין לְמִבְעֵא֙ מִן־ קֳדָם֙ אֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א עַל־ רָזָ֖ה דְּנָ֑ה דִּ֣י לָ֤א יְהֹֽבְדוּן֙ דָּנִיֵּ֣אל וְחַבְר֔וֹהִי עִם־ שְׁאָ֖ר חַכִּימֵ֥י בָבֶֽל׃

BCC ¹⁹ Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel dans une vision pendant la nuit, et Daniel bénit le Dieu du ciel.

KJV ¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

WLC ¹⁹ אֱדַ֗יִן לְדָנִיֵּ֛אל בְּחֶזְוָ֥א דִֽי־ לֵילְיָ֖א רָזָ֣ה גֲלִ֑י אֱדַ֙יִן֙ דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל בָּרִ֖ךְ לֶאֱלָ֥הּ שְׁמַיָּֽא׃

BCC ²⁰ Daniel prit la parole et dit : « Béni soit le nom de Dieu, d'éternité en éternité, car à lui appartiennent la sagesse et la force.

KJV ²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

WLC ²⁰ עָנֵ֤ה דָֽנִיֵּאל֙ וְאָמַ֔ר לֶהֱוֵ֨א שְׁמֵ֤הּ דִּֽי־ אֱלָהָא֙ מְבָרַ֔ךְ מִן־ עָלְמָ֖א וְעַ֣ד־ עָלְמָ֑א דִּ֧י חָכְמְתָ֛א וּגְבוּרְתָ֖א דִּ֥י לֵֽהּ־ הִֽיא׃

BCC ²¹ C'est lui qui change les moments et les temps, qui renverse les rois et qui élève les rois, qui donne la sagesse aux sages et le savoir aux intelligents.

KJV ²¹ And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

WLC ²¹ וְ֠הוּא מְהַשְׁנֵ֤א עִדָּנַיָּא֙ וְזִמְנַיָּ֔א מְהַעְדֵּ֥ה מַלְכִ֖ין וּמְהָקֵ֣ים מַלְכִ֑ין יָהֵ֤ב חָכְמְתָא֙ לְחַכִּימִ֔ין וּמַנְדְּעָ֖א לְיָדְעֵ֥י בִינָֽה׃

BCC ²² C'est lui qui révèle les choses profondes et cachées, qui sait ce qui est dans les ténèbres, et la lumière demeure avec lui.

KJV ²² He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

WLC ²² ה֛וּא גָּלֵ֥א עַמִּיקָתָ֖א וּמְסַתְּרָתָ֑א יָדַע֙ מָ֣ה בַחֲשׁוֹכָ֔א עִמֵּ֥הּ שְׁרֵֽא׃

BCC ²³ C'est vous, Dieu de mes pères, que je célèbre et que je loue de ce que vous m'avez donné la sagesse et la force, et de ce que maintenant vous m'avez fait savoir ce que nous vous avons demandé, en nous faisant savoir l'affaire du roi. »

KJV ²³ I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

WLC ²³ לָ֣ךְ ׀ אֱלָ֣הּ אֲבָהָתִ֗י מְהוֹדֵ֤א וּמְשַׁבַּח֙ אֲנָ֔ה דִּ֧י חָכְמְתָ֛א וּגְבוּרְתָ֖א יְהַ֣בְתְּ לִ֑י וּכְעַ֤ן הֽוֹדַעְתַּ֙נִי֙ דִּֽי־ בְעֵ֣ינָא מִנָּ֔ךְ דִּֽי־ מִלַּ֥ת מַלְכָּ֖א הוֹדַעְתֶּֽנָא׃

BCC ²⁴ C'est pourquoi Daniel se rendit auprès d'Arioch, que le roi avait chargé de mettre à mort les sages de Babylone ; il alla et lui parla ainsi : « Ne fais pas périr les sages de Babylone ; introduis-moi devant le roi, et je ferai connaître au roi la signification. »

KJV ²⁴ Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

BCC ²⁵ Arioch s'empressa de faire entrer Daniel devant le roi et lui parla ainsi : « J'ai trouvé parmi les captifs de Juda un homme qui fera savoir au roi la signification. »

KJV ²⁵ Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

WLC ²⁵ אֱדַ֤יִן אַרְיוֹךְ֙ בְּהִתְבְּהָלָ֔ה הַנְעֵ֥ל לְדָנִיֵּ֖אל קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּ֑א וְכֵ֣ן אֲמַר־ לֵ֗הּ דִּֽי־ הַשְׁכַּ֤חַת גְּבַר֙ מִן־ בְּנֵ֤י גָֽלוּתָא֙ דִּ֣י יְה֔וּד דִּ֥י פִשְׁרָ֖א לְמַלְכָּ֥א יְהוֹדַֽע׃

BCC ²⁶ Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel, qui s'appelait Baltassar : « es-tu capable de me faire savoir le songe que j'ai eu et sa signification ? »

KJV ²⁶ The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

WLC ²⁶ עָנֵ֤ה מַלְכָּא֙ וְאָמַ֣ר לְדָנִיֵּ֔אל דִּ֥י שְׁמֵ֖הּ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֑ר כָּהֵ֗ל לְהוֹדָעֻתַ֛נִי חֶלְמָ֥א דִֽי־ חֲזֵ֖ית וּפִשְׁרֵֽהּ׃

BCC ²⁷ Daniel répondît en présence du roi et dit : « le secret que le roi demande, ni sages, ni magiciens, ni lettrés, ni astrologues ne sont capables de le faire connaître au roi.

KJV ²⁷ Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

WLC ²⁷ עָנֵ֧ה דָנִיֵּ֛אל קֳדָ֥ם מַלְכָּ֖א וְאָמַ֑ר רָזָה֙ דִּֽי־ מַלְכָּ֣א שָׁאֵ֔ל לָ֧א חַכִּימִ֣ין אָֽשְׁפִ֗ין חַרְטֻמִּין֙ גָּזְרִ֔ין יָכְלִ֖ין לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה לְמַלְכָּֽא׃

BCC ²⁸ Mais il y a un Dieu dans le ciel qui révèle les secrets et qui a fait savoir au roi Nabuchodonosor ce qui doit arriver à la fin des jours. Ton songe et tes visions de ton esprit que tu as eues sur ta couche, les voici :

KJV ²⁸ But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

WLC ²⁸ בְּרַ֡ם אִיתַ֞י אֱלָ֤הּ בִּשְׁמַיָּא֙ גָּלֵ֣א רָזִ֔ין וְהוֹדַ֗ע לְמַלְכָּא֙ נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֔ר מָ֛ה דִּ֥י לֶהֱוֵ֖א בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית יוֹמַיָּ֑א חֶלְמָ֨ךְ וְחֶזְוֵ֥י רֵאשָׁ֛ךְ עַֽל־ מִשְׁכְּבָ֖ךְ דְּנָ֥ה הֽוּא׃

BCC ²⁹ Toi, ô roi, tes pensées s'élevaient en ton esprit sur ta couche au sujet de ce qui arriverait après ce temps-ci, et celui qui révèle les secrets t'a fait connaître ce qui doit arriver.

KJV ²⁹ As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

WLC ²⁹ אַ֣נְתְּה מַלְכָּ֗א רַעְיוֹנָךְ֙ עַל־ מִשְׁכְּבָ֣ךְ סְלִ֔קוּ מָ֛ה דִּ֥י לֶהֱוֵ֖א אַחֲרֵ֣י דְנָ֑ה וְגָלֵ֧א רָזַיָּ֛א הוֹדְעָ֖ךְ מָה־ דִ֥י לֶהֱוֵֽא׃

BCC ³⁰ Et moi, ce n'est pas par une sagesse qui serait en moi, supérieure à celle de tous les vivants, que ce secret m'a été révélé, mais c'est afin qu'on en fasse savoir la signification au roi, et que tu connaisses les pensées de ton coeur.

KJV ³⁰ But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

WLC ³⁰ וַאֲנָ֗ה לָ֤א בְחָכְמָה֙ דִּֽי־ אִיתַ֥י בִּי֙ מִן־ כָּל־ חַיַּיָּ֔א רָזָ֥א דְנָ֖ה גֱּלִ֣י לִ֑י לָהֵ֗ן עַל־ דִּבְרַת֙ דִּ֤י פִשְׁרָא֙ לְמַלְכָּ֣א יְהוֹדְע֔וּן וְרַעְיוֹנֵ֥י לִבְבָ֖ךְ תִּנְדַּֽע׃
