DRB ¹⁴ Alors Daniel répondit avec prudence et avec sens à Arioc, chef des gardes du roi, qui était sorti pour tuer les sages de Babylone ;

KJV ¹⁴ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

WLC ¹⁴ בֵּאדַ֣יִן דָּנִיֵּ֗אל הֲתִיב֙ עֵטָ֣א וּטְעֵ֔ם לְאַרְי֕וֹךְ רַב־ טַבָּחַיָּ֖א דִּ֣י מַלְכָּ֑א דִּ֚י נְפַ֣ק לְקַטָּלָ֔ה לְחַכִּימֵ֖י בָּבֶֽל׃

DRB ¹⁵ il répondit et dit à Arioc, le grand officier* du roi : Pourquoi ce décret est-il si rigoureux de par le roi ? Alors Arioc fit connaître la chose à Daniel.

KJV ¹⁵ He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

VULC ¹⁵ Et interrogavit eum, qui a rege potestatem acceperat, quam ob causam tam crudelis sententia a facie regis esset egressa. Cum ergo rem indicasset Arioch Danieli,

WLC ¹⁵ עָנֵ֣ה וְאָמַ֗ר לְאַרְיוֹךְ֙ שַׁלִּיטָ֣א דִֽי־ מַלְכָּ֔א עַל־ מָ֥ה דָתָ֛א מְהַחְצְפָ֖ה מִן־ קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּ֑א אֱדַ֣יִן מִלְּתָ֔א הוֹדַ֥ע אַרְי֖וֹךְ לְדָנִיֵּֽאל׃

DRB ¹⁶ Et Daniel entra et demanda au roi de lui accorder du temps pour indiquer au roi l'interprétation.

KJV ¹⁶ Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

VULC ¹⁶ Daniel ingressus rogavit regem ut tempus daret sibi ad solutionem indicandam regi.

WLC ¹⁶ וְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל עַ֖ל וּבְעָ֣ה מִן־ מַלְכָּ֑א דִּ֚י זְמָ֣ן יִנְתֵּן־ לֵ֔הּ וּפִשְׁרָ֖א לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה לְמַלְכָּֽא׃

DRB ¹⁷ Alors Daniel s'en alla à sa maison et fit connaître la chose à Hanania, Mishaël et Azaria, ses compagnons,

KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

VULC ¹⁷ Et ingressus est domum suam, Ananiæque et Misaëli et Azariæ, sociis suis, indicavit negotium,

WLC ¹⁷ אֱדַ֥יִן דָּֽנִיֵּ֖אל לְבַיְתֵ֣הּ אֲזַ֑ל וְ֠לַחֲנַנְיָה מִֽישָׁאֵ֧ל וַעֲזַרְיָ֛ה חַבְר֖וֹהִי מִלְּתָ֥א הוֹדַֽע׃

DRB ¹⁸ pour implorer, de la part du Dieu* des cieux, [ses] compassions au sujet de ce secret, afin que Daniel et ses compagnons ne fussent pas détruits avec le reste des sages de Babylone.

KJV ¹⁸ That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

VULC ¹⁸ ut quærerent misericordiam a facie Dei cæli super sacramento isto, et non perirent Daniel et socii ejus cum ceteris sapientibus Babylonis.

WLC ¹⁸ וְרַחֲמִ֗ין לְמִבְעֵא֙ מִן־ קֳדָם֙ אֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א עַל־ רָזָ֖ה דְּנָ֑ה דִּ֣י לָ֤א יְהֹֽבְדוּן֙ דָּנִיֵּ֣אל וְחַבְר֔וֹהִי עִם־ שְׁאָ֖ר חַכִּימֵ֥י בָבֶֽל׃

DRB ¹⁹ Alors le secret fut révélé à Daniel dans une vision de la nuit. Alors Daniel bénit le Dieu des cieux.

KJV ¹⁹ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

VULC ¹⁹ Tunc Danieli mysterium per visionem nocte revelatum est : et benedixit Daniel Deum cæli,

DRB ²⁰ Daniel répondit et dit : Béni soit le* nom de Dieu, d'éternité en éternité ! car la sagesse et la puissance sont à lui,

KJV ²⁰ Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

VULC ²⁰ et locutus ait : Sit nomen Domini benedictum a sæculo et usque in sæculum : quia sapientia et fortitudo ejus sunt.

WLC ²⁰ עָנֵ֤ה דָֽנִיֵּאל֙ וְאָמַ֔ר לֶהֱוֵ֨א שְׁמֵ֤הּ דִּֽי־ אֱלָהָא֙ מְבָרַ֔ךְ מִן־ עָלְמָ֖א וְעַ֣ד־ עָלְמָ֑א דִּ֧י חָכְמְתָ֛א וּגְבוּרְתָ֖א דִּ֥י לֵֽהּ־ הִֽיא׃

DRB ²¹ et c'est lui qui change les temps et les saisons, qui dépose les rois et établit les rois, qui donne la sagesse aux sages et la connaissance à ceux qui connaissent l'intelligence :

KJV ²¹ And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

VULC ²¹ Et ipse mutat tempora, et ætates : transfert regna, atque constituit : dat sapientiam sapientibus, et scientiam intelligentibus disciplinam.

WLC ²¹ וְ֠הוּא מְהַשְׁנֵ֤א עִדָּנַיָּא֙ וְזִמְנַיָּ֔א מְהַעְדֵּ֥ה מַלְכִ֖ין וּמְהָקֵ֣ים מַלְכִ֑ין יָהֵ֤ב חָכְמְתָא֙ לְחַכִּימִ֔ין וּמַנְדְּעָ֖א לְיָדְעֵ֥י בִינָֽה׃

DRB ²² c'est lui qui révèle les choses profondes et secrètes ; il sait ce qui est dans les ténèbres, et la lumière demeure auprès de lui.

KJV ²² He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

VULC ²² Ipse revelat profunda et abscondita, et novit in tenebris constituta : et lux cum eo est.

WLC ²² ה֛וּא גָּלֵ֥א עַמִּיקָתָ֖א וּמְסַתְּרָתָ֑א יָדַע֙ מָ֣ה בַחֲשׁוֹכָ֔א עִמֵּ֥הּ שְׁרֵֽא׃

DRB ²³ Toi, Dieu de mes pères, je te célèbre et je te loue, parce que tu m'as donné sagesse et puissance, et que maintenant tu m'as fait connaître ce que nous t'avons demandé, nous ayant fait connaître la chose que réclame le roi*.

KJV ²³ I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

VULC ²³ Tibi, Deus patrum nostrorum, confiteor, teque laudo, quia sapientiam et fortitudinem dedisti mihi, et nunc ostendisti mihi quæ rogavimus te, quia sermonem regis aperuisti nobis.

DRB ²⁴ C'est pourquoi Daniel entra auprès d'Arioc, que le roi avait établi pour détruire les sages de Babylone ; il alla, et lui parla ainsi : Ne détruis pas les sages de Babylone ; conduis-moi devant le roi, et j'indiquerai au roi l'interprétation.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

VULC ²⁴ Post hæc Daniel ingressus ad Arioch, quem constituerat rex ut perderet sapientes Babylonis, sic ei locutus est : Sapientes Babylonis ne perdas : introduc me in conspectu regis, et solutionem regi narrabo.

DRB ²⁵ Alors Arioc fit entrer Daniel en hâte devant le roi, et lui parla ainsi : J'ai trouvé un homme, des fils de la captivité de Juda, qui fera connaître au roi l'interprétation.

KJV ²⁵ Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

VULC ²⁵ Tunc Arioch festinus introduxit Danielem ad regem, et dixit ei : Inveni hominem de filiis transmigrationis Juda, qui solutionem regi annuntiet.

WLC ²⁵ אֱדַ֤יִן אַרְיוֹךְ֙ בְּהִתְבְּהָלָ֔ה הַנְעֵ֥ל לְדָנִיֵּ֖אל קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּ֑א וְכֵ֣ן אֲמַר־ לֵ֗הּ דִּֽי־ הַשְׁכַּ֤חַת גְּבַר֙ מִן־ בְּנֵ֤י גָֽלוּתָא֙ דִּ֣י יְה֔וּד דִּ֥י פִשְׁרָ֖א לְמַלְכָּ֥א יְהוֹדַֽע׃

DRB ²⁶ Le roi répondit et dit à Daniel, dont le nom était Belteshatsar : Peux-tu me faire connaître le songe que j'ai vu et son interprétation ?

KJV ²⁶ The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

VULC ²⁶ Respondit rex, et dixit Danieli, cujus nomen erat Baltassar : Putasne vere potes mihi indicare somnium, quod vidi, et interpretationem ejus ?

WLC ²⁶ עָנֵ֤ה מַלְכָּא֙ וְאָמַ֣ר לְדָנִיֵּ֔אל דִּ֥י שְׁמֵ֖הּ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֑ר כָּהֵ֗ל לְהוֹדָעֻתַ֛נִי חֶלְמָ֥א דִֽי־ חֲזֵ֖ית וּפִשְׁרֵֽהּ׃

DRB ²⁷ Daniel répondit devant le roi, et dit : Le secret que le roi demande, les sages, les enchanteurs, les devins, les augures, n'ont pu l'indiquer au roi ;

KJV ²⁷ Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

VULC ²⁷ Et respondens Daniel coram rege, ait : Mysterium, quod rex interrogat, sapientes, magi, arioli, et aruspices nequeunt indicare regi :

WLC ²⁷ עָנֵ֧ה דָנִיֵּ֛אל קֳדָ֥ם מַלְכָּ֖א וְאָמַ֑ר רָזָה֙ דִּֽי־ מַלְכָּ֣א שָׁאֵ֔ל לָ֧א חַכִּימִ֣ין אָֽשְׁפִ֗ין חַרְטֻמִּין֙ גָּזְרִ֔ין יָכְלִ֖ין לְהַֽחֲוָיָ֥ה לְמַלְכָּֽא׃

DRB ²⁸ mais il y a un Dieu dans les cieux qui révèle les secrets et fait savoir au roi Nebucadnetsar ce qui arrivera à la fin des jours. Ton songe et les visions de ta tête, sur ton lit, les voici :

KJV ²⁸ But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

VULC ²⁸ sed est Deus in cælo revelans mysteria, qui indicavit tibi, rex Nabuchodonosor, quæ ventura sunt in novissimis temporibus. Somnium tuum, et visiones capitis tui in cubili tuo hujuscemodi sunt.

WLC ²⁸ בְּרַ֡ם אִיתַ֞י אֱלָ֤הּ בִּשְׁמַיָּא֙ גָּלֵ֣א רָזִ֔ין וְהוֹדַ֗ע לְמַלְכָּא֙ נְבֽוּכַדְנֶצַּ֔ר מָ֛ה דִּ֥י לֶהֱוֵ֖א בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית יוֹמַיָּ֑א חֶלְמָ֨ךְ וְחֶזְוֵ֥י רֵאשָׁ֛ךְ עַֽל־ מִשְׁכְּבָ֖ךְ דְּנָ֥ה הֽוּא׃

DRB ²⁹ Toi, ô roi,… tes pensées, sur ton lit, sont montées [dans ton esprit], ce qui doit arriver ci-après ; et celui qui révèle les secrets te fait savoir ce qui va arriver.

KJV ²⁹ As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

VULC ²⁹ Tu, rex, cogitare cœpisti in strato tuo, quid esset futurum post hæc : et qui revelat mysteria, ostendit tibi quæ ventura sunt.

WLC ²⁹ אַ֣נְתְּה מַלְכָּ֗א רַעְיוֹנָךְ֙ עַל־ מִשְׁכְּבָ֣ךְ סְלִ֔קוּ מָ֛ה דִּ֥י לֶהֱוֵ֖א אַחֲרֵ֣י דְנָ֑ה וְגָלֵ֧א רָזַיָּ֛א הוֹדְעָ֖ךְ מָה־ דִ֥י לֶהֱוֵֽא׃

DRB ³⁰ Et quant à moi, ce n'est pas par quelque sagesse qui soit en moi plus qu'en tous les vivants, que ce secret m'a été révélé : c'est afin que l'interprétation soit connue du roi, et que tu connaisses les pensées de ton cœur.

KJV ³⁰ But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

VULC ³⁰ Mihi quoque non in sapientia, quæ est in me plus quam in cunctis viventibus, sacramentum hoc revelatum est : sed ut interpretatio regi manifesta fieret, et cogitationes mentis tuæ scires.

WLC ³⁰ וַאֲנָ֗ה לָ֤א בְחָכְמָה֙ דִּֽי־ אִיתַ֥י בִּי֙ מִן־ כָּל־ חַיַּיָּ֔א רָזָ֥א דְנָ֖ה גֱּלִ֣י לִ֑י לָהֵ֗ן עַל־ דִּבְרַת֙ דִּ֤י פִשְׁרָא֙ לְמַלְכָּ֣א יְהוֹדְע֔וּן וְרַעְיוֹנֵ֥י לִבְבָ֖ךְ תִּנְדַּֽע׃
