KJV ¹⁷ Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.

KJV ¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

MAR ¹⁸ Ô Roi ! le Dieu souverain avait donné à Nébucadnetsar ton père, le Royaume, la magnificence, la gloire et l'honneur.

KJV ¹⁹ And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

MAR ¹⁹ Et à cause de la grandeur qu'il lui avait donnée, tous les peuples, les nations, et les Langues tremblaient devant lui, et le redoutaient ; car il faisait mourir ceux qu'il voulait, et sauvait la vie à ceux qu'il voulait ; il élevait ceux qu'il voulait, et abaissait ceux qu'il voulait.

KJV ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

MAR ²⁰ Mais après que son coeur se fut élevé, et que son esprit se fut affermi dans son orgueil, il fut déposé de son siège royal, et on le dépouilla de sa gloire ;

KJV ²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

MAR ²¹ Et il fut chassé d'entre les hommes, et son coeur fut rendu semblable à celui des bêtes, et sa demeure fut avec les ânes sauvages ; on le paissait d'herbe comme les boeufs, et son corps fut arrosé de la rosée des cieux, jusqu'à ce qu'il connût que le Dieu souverain a puissance sur les Royaumes des hommes, et qu'il y établit ceux qu'il lui plaît.

KJV ²² And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

MAR ²² Toi aussi Belsatsar son fils, tu n'as point humilié ton coeur, quoique tu susses toutes ces choses.

KJV ²³ But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

MAR ²³ Mais tu t'es élevé contre le Seigneur des cieux, et on a apporté devant toi les vaisseaux de sa maison, et vous y avez bu du vin, toi et tes gentilshommes, tes femmes et tes concubines ; et tu as loué les dieux d'argent, d'or, d'airain, de fer, de bois, et de pierre, qui ne voient, ni n'entendent, ni ne connaissent, et tu n'as point glorifié le Dieu dans la main duquel est ton souffle, et toutes tes voies.

KJV ²⁴ Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

MAR ²⁴ Alors de sa part a été envoyée cette partie de main, et cette écriture a été écrite.

KJV ²⁵ And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

MAR ²⁵ Or c'est ici l'écriture qui a été écrite : MÉNÉ, MÉNÉ, THÉKEL, UPHARSIN.

KJV ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

MAR ²⁶ [Et] c'est ici l'interprétation de ces paroles ; MÉNÉ : Dieu a calculé ton règne, et y a mis la fin.

KJV ²⁷ TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

MAR ²⁷ THÉKEL : Tu as été pesé en la balance, et tu as été trouvé léger.

KJV ²⁸ PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

MAR ²⁸ PÉRÈS : Ton Royaume a été divisé, et il a été donné aux Mèdes et aux Perses.

KJV ²⁹ Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

MAR ²⁹ Alors par le commandement de Belsatsar on vêtit Daniel d'écarlate, et on mit un collier d'or à son cou, et on publia de lui, qu'il serait le troisième dans le Royaume.

KJV ³⁰ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.

MAR ³⁰ En cette même nuit Belsatsar, Roi de Caldée, fut tué ;

KJV ³¹ And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

MAR ³¹ Et Darius le Mède prit le Royaume, étant âgé d'environ soixante-deux ans.

KJV ¹ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

MAR ¹ Or il plut à Darius d'établir sur le Royaume six-vingts Satrapes pour être sur tout le Royaume.

KJV ² And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

MAR ² Et au-dessus d'eux trois Gouverneurs, dont Daniel était l'un, auxquels ces Satrapes devaient rendre compte, afin que le Roi ne souffrît aucun préjudice.

KJV ³ Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

MAR ³ Mais Daniel excellait par-dessus les autres Gouverneurs et Satrapes, parce qu'il avait plus d'esprit qu'eux ; et le Roi pensait à l'établir sur tout le Royaume.

KJV ⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

MAR ⁴ Alors les Gouverneurs et les Satrapes cherchaient à trouver quelque occasion d'accuser Daniel touchant les affaires du Royaume ; mais ils ne pouvaient trouver en lui aucune occasion ni aucun vice, parce qu'il était fidèle, et qu'il ne se trouvait en lui ni faute, ni vice.

KJV ⁵ Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

MAR ⁵ Ces hommes donc dirent : Nous ne trouverons point d'occasion d'accuser ce Daniel, si nous ne la trouvons dans ce qui regarde la Loi de son Dieu.

KJV ⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

MAR ⁶ Alors ces Gouverneurs et ces Satrapes s'assemblèrent vers le Roi, et lui parlèrent ainsi : Roi Darius, vis éternellement !

KJV ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

MAR ⁷ Tous les Gouverneurs de ton Royaume, les Lieutenants, les Satrapes, les Conseillers, et les Capitaines sont d'avis d'établir une ordonnance royale, et de faire un décret ferme, que quiconque fera aucune requête à quelque Dieu, ou à quelque homme que ce soit, d'ici à trente jours, sinon à toi, ô Roi ! qu'il soit jeté dans la fosse des lions.

KJV ⁸ Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

MAR ⁸ Maintenant donc, ô Roi ! établis ce décret, et fais en écrire des Lettres afin qu'on ne le change point, selon que la Loi des Mèdes et des Perses est irrévocable.

KJV ⁹ Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

MAR ⁹ C'est pourquoi le Roi Darius écrivit la lettre et le décret.

KJV ¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

MAR ¹⁰ Or quand Daniel eut appris que les Lettres en étaient écrites, il entra dans sa maison, et les fenêtres de sa chambre étant ouvertes du côté de Jérusalem, il se mettait trois fois le jour à genoux, et il priait et célébrait son Dieu, comme il avait fait auparavant.

KJV ¹¹ Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

MAR ¹¹ Alors ces hommes s'assemblèrent, et trouvèrent Daniel priant, et faisant requête à son Dieu.

KJV ¹² Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

MAR ¹² Ils s'approchèrent et dirent au Roi touchant le décret royal : N'as-tu pas écrit ce décret, que tout homme qui ferait requête à quelque Dieu, ou à quelque homme que ce fût, d'ici à trente jours, sinon à toi, ô Roi ! serait jeté dans la fosse des lions ? [Et] le Roi répondit, et dit : La chose est constante, selon la Loi des Mèdes et des Perses, laquelle est irrévocable.

KJV ¹³ Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

MAR ¹³ Alors ils répondirent, et dirent au Roi : Daniel, qui est un de ceux qui ont été emmenés captifs de Juda, n'a tenu compte de toi, ô Roi ! ni du décret que tu as écrit ; mais il prie, faisant requête trois fois le jour.

KJV ¹⁴ Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

MAR ¹⁴ Ce que le Roi ayant entendu, il en eut en lui-même un grand déplaisir, et il prit à coeur Daniel pour le délivrer, et s'appliqua fortement jusqu'au soleil couchant à le délivrer.

KJV ¹⁵ Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

MAR ¹⁵ Mais ces hommes-là s'assemblèrent vers le Roi, et lui dirent : Ô Roi ! sache que la Loi des Mèdes et des Perses est, que tout décret et toute ordonnance que le Roi aura établie, ne se doit point changer.

KJV ¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

MAR ¹⁶ Alors le Roi commanda qu'on amenât Daniel, et qu'on le jetât dans la fosse des lions. Et le Roi prenant la parole dit à Daniel : Ton Dieu, lequel tu sers incessamment, sera celui qui te délivrera.

KJV ¹⁷ And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

MAR ¹⁷ Et on apporta une pierre, qui fut mise sur l'ouverture de la fosse, et le Roi la scella de son anneau, et de l'anneau de ses gentilshommes, afin que rien ne fût changé touchant Daniel.

KJV ¹⁸ Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

MAR ¹⁸ Après quoi le Roi s'en alla dans son palais, et passa la nuit sans souper, et on ne lui fit point venir les instruments de musique, il ne put même point dormir.

KJV ¹⁹ Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

MAR ¹⁹ Puis le Roi se leva de grand matin, lorsque le jour commençait à luire, et s'en alla en diligence vers la fosse des lions.

KJV ²⁰ And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

MAR ²⁰ Et comme il approchait de la fosse, il cria d'une voix triste : Daniel, [et] le Roi prenant la parole dit à Daniel : Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu, lequel tu sers incessamment, aurait-il bien pu te délivrer des lions ?

KJV ²¹ Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

MAR ²¹ Alors Daniel dit au Roi : Ô Roi, vis éternellement.

KJV ²² My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

MAR ²² Mon Dieu a envoyé son Ange, et a fermé la gueule des lions, tellement qu'ils ne m'ont fait aucun mal, parce que j'ai été trouvé innocent devant lui ; et même à ton égard, ô Roi ! je n'ai commis aucune faute.

KJV ²³ Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

MAR ²³ Alors le Roi eut en lui-même une grande joie, et il commanda qu'on tirât Daniel hors de la fosse. Ainsi Daniel fut tiré hors de la fosse, et on ne trouva en lui aucune blessure, parce qu'il avait cru en son Dieu.

KJV ²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

MAR ²⁴ Et par le commandement du Roi, ces hommes qui avaient accusé Daniel, furent amenés, et jetés, eux, leurs enfants, et leurs femmes, dans la fosse des lions, et avant qu'ils fussent parvenus au bas de la fosse, les lions se saisirent d'eux, et leur brisèrent tous les os.

KJV ²⁵ Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

MAR ²⁵ Alors le Roi Darius écrivit [des Lettres de telle teneur] : A tous peuples, nations et Langues, qui habitent en toute la terre ; que votre paix soit multipliée !

KJV ²⁶ I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

MAR ²⁶ De par moi est fait un Edit, que dans toute l'étendue de mon Royaume on ait de la crainte et de la frayeur pour le Dieu de Daniel, car c'est le Dieu vivant, et permanent à toujours ; et son Royaume ne sera point dissipé, et sa domination sera jusqu'à la fin.

KJV ²⁷ He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

MAR ²⁷ Il sauve et délivre, il fait des prodiges et des merveilles dans les cieux et sur la terre, et il a délivré Daniel de la puissance des lions.

KJV ²⁸ So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

MAR ²⁸ Ainsi Daniel prospéra au temps du règne de Darius, et au temps du règne de Cyrus de Perse.

KJV ¹ In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

MAR ¹ La première année de Belsatsar, Roi de Babylone, Daniel vit un songe, et étant dans son lit il eut des visions en sa tête ; puis il écrivit le songe, et il en dit le sommaire.

KJV ² Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

MAR ² Daniel [donc] parla, et dit : Je regardais de nuit en ma vision, et voici, les quatre vents des cieux se levèrent avec impétuosité sur la grande mer.

KJV ³ And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

MAR ³ Puis quatre grandes bêtes montèrent de la mer, différentes l'une de l'autre.

KJV ⁴ The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

MAR ⁴ La première était comme un lion, et elle avait des ailes d'aigle, et je la regardai jusqu'à ce que les plumes de ses ailes furent arrachées, et qu'elle se fut levée de terre, et dressée sur ses pieds comme un homme, et il lui fut donné un coeur d'homme.

KJV ⁵ And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

MAR ⁵ Et voici une autre bête [qui fut] la seconde semblable à un ours, laquelle se tenait sur un côté, et avait trois crocs dans la gueule entre ses dents ; et on lui disait ainsi : Lève-toi, mange beaucoup de chair.

KJV ⁶ After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

MAR ⁶ Après celle-là je regardai, et voici une autre bête, semblable à un léopard, qui avait sur son dos quatre ailes d'oiseau, et cette bête avait quatre têtes, et la domination lui fut donnée.

KJV ⁷ After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

MAR ⁷ Après celle-là je regardais dans les visions de la nuit, et voici la quatrième bête, qui était épouvantable, affreuse, et très forte, elle avait de grandes dents de fer, elle mangeait, et brisait, et elle foulait à ses pieds ce qui restait, elle était différente de toutes les bêtes qui avaient été avant elle, et avait dix cornes.

KJV ⁸ I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

MAR ⁸ Je considérais ces cornes, et voici, une autre petite corne montait entre elles, et trois des premières cornes furent arrachées par elle ; et voici, il y avait en cette corne des yeux semblables aux yeux d'un homme, et une bouche qui disait de grandes choses.

KJV ⁹ I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

MAR ⁹ Je regardais jusqu'à ce que les trônes furent roulés, et que l'Ancien des jours s'assit ; son vêtement était blanc comme la neige, et les cheveux de sa tête étaient comme de la laine nette ; son trône était des flammes de feu, et ses roues un feu ardent.

KJV ¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

MAR ¹⁰ Un fleuve de feu sortait et se répandait de devant lui ; mille milliers le servaient, et dix mille millions assistaient devant lui ; le jugement se tint, et les livres furent ouverts.

KJV ¹¹ I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

MAR ¹¹ Et je regardais à cause de la voix des grandes paroles que cette corne proférait ; je regardai donc jusqu'à ce que la bête fut tuée, et que son corps fut détruit et donné pour être brûlé au feu.

KJV ¹² As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

MAR ¹² La domination fut aussi ôtée aux autres bêtes, quoiqu'une longue vie leur eût été donnée jusqu'à un temps et un temps.

KJV ¹³ I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

MAR ¹³ Je regardais [encore] dans les visions de la nuit, et voici, comme le Fils de l'homme, qui venait avec les nuées des cieux, et il vint jusqu'à l'Ancien des jours, et se tint devant lui.

KJV ¹⁴ And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

MAR ¹⁴ Et il lui donna la seigneurie, et l'honneur, et le règne ; et tous les peuples, les nations, et les Langues le serviront, sa domination [est] une domination éternelle qui ne passera point, et son règne ne sera point dissipé.
