DRB ¹ Il plut à Darius d'établir sur le royaume cent vingt satrapes, pour qu'ils fussent dans tout le royaume ;

KJV ¹ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

VULC ¹ Placuit Dario, et constituit super regnum satrapas centum viginti ut essent in toto regno suo.

DRB ² et au-dessus d'eux, trois présidents, dont Daniel était l'un, pour que ces satrapes leur rendissent compte, et que le roi ne souffrît aucun dommage.

KJV ² And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

VULC ² Et super eos principes tres, ex quibus Daniel unus erat : ut satrapæ illis redderent rationem, et rex non sustineret molestiam.

DRB ³ Et ce Daniel surpassa les présidents et les satrapes, parce qu'il y avait en lui un esprit extraordinaire ; et le roi pensa à l'établir sur tout le royaume.

KJV ³ Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

VULC ³ Igitur Daniel superabat omnes principes et satrapas, quia spiritus Dei amplior erat in illo.

DRB ⁴ Alors les présidents et les satrapes cherchèrent à trouver dans [l'administration du] royaume quelque sujet d'accusation contre Daniel ; et ils ne pouvaient trouver aucun sujet d'accusation ni aucune faute, parce qu'il était fidèle ; et aucun manquement ni aucune faute ne se trouva en lui.

KJV ⁴ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

VULC ⁴ Porro rex cogitabat constituere eum super omne regnum : unde principes, et satrapæ quærebant occasionem ut invenirent Danieli ex latere regis : nullamque causam, et suspicionem reperire potuerunt, eo quod fidelis esset, et omnis culpa, et suspicio non inveniretur in eo.

DRB ⁵ Et ces hommes dirent : Nous ne trouverons dans ce Daniel aucun sujet d'accusation, à moins que nous n'en trouvions contre lui à cause de la loi de son Dieu.

KJV ⁵ Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

VULC ⁵ Dixerunt ergo viri illi : Non inveniemus Danieli huic aliquam occasionem, nisi forte in lege Dei sui.

DRB ⁶ Alors ces présidents et ces satrapes s'assemblèrent en foule auprès du roi, et lui parlèrent ainsi : Roi Darius, vis à jamais !

KJV ⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

VULC ⁶ Tunc principes et satrapæ surripuerunt regi, et sic locuti sunt ei : Dari rex, in æternum vive !

DRB ⁷ Tous les présidents du royaume, les préfets et les satrapes, les conseillers et les gouverneurs, ont tenu conseil ensemble pour établir un statut royal et mettre en vigueur une défense, [portant] que quiconque fera une demande à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme que ce soit durant trente jours, excepté à toi, ô roi, sera jeté dans la fosse aux lions.

KJV ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

VULC ⁷ consilium inierunt omnes principes regni tui, magistratus, et satrapæ, senatores, et judices, ut decretum imperatorium exeat, et edictum : ut omnis, qui petierit aliquam petitionem a quocumque deo et homine usque ad triginta dies, nisi a te, rex, mittatur in lacum leonum.

DRB ⁸ Maintenant, ô roi, établis la défense, et signe l'écrit afin qu'il ne soit pas changé, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui ne peut être abrogée.

KJV ⁸ Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

VULC ⁸ Nunc itaque rex, confirma sententiam, et scribe decretum : ut non immutetur quod statutum est a Medis et Persis, nec prævaricari cuiquam liceat.

DRB ⁹ À cause de cela, le roi Darius signa l'écrit et la défense.

KJV ⁹ Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

VULC ⁹ Porro rex Darius proposuit edictum, et statuit.

DRB ¹⁰ Or Daniel, quand il sut que l'écrit était signé, entra dans sa maison ; et, ses fenêtres étant ouvertes dans sa chambre haute, du côté de Jérusalem, il s'agenouillait sur ses genoux trois fois le jour, et priait, et rendait grâce devant son Dieu, comme il avait fait auparavant.

KJV ¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
