BAN ⁸ Maintenant, ô roi, rends une défense et fais-la enregistrer, afin qu'il n'y puisse être dérogé, selon la loi du Mède et du Perse, qui est irrévocable.

KJV ⁸ Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

BAN ⁹ En conséquence le roi Darius fit enregistrer le décret, la défense.

KJV ⁹ Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

WLC ⁹ כְּעַ֣ן מַלְכָּ֔א תְּקִ֥ים אֱסָרָ֖א וְתִרְשֻׁ֣ם כְּתָבָ֑א דִּ֣י לָ֧א לְהַשְׁנָיָ֛ה כְּדָת־ מָדַ֥י וּפָרַ֖ס דִּי־ לָ֥א תֶעְדֵּֽא׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et Daniel, quand il eut appris que le décret était enregistré, entra dans sa maison ; et elle avait dans la chambre haute des fenêtres ouvertes du côté de Jérusalem ; il se mettait à genoux trois fois par jour et priait et célébrait son Dieu comme il le faisait auparavant.

KJV ¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

WLC ¹⁰ כָּל־ קֳבֵ֖ל דְּנָ֑ה מַלְכָּא֙ דָּֽרְיָ֔וֶשׁ רְשַׁ֥ם כְּתָבָ֖א וֶאֱסָרָֽא׃

BAN ¹¹ Alors ces hommes accoururent à grand bruit et trouvèrent Daniel priant et faisant des supplications à son Dieu.

KJV ¹¹ Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

WLC ¹¹ וְ֠דָנִיֵּאל כְּדִ֨י יְדַ֜ע דִּֽי־ רְשִׁ֤ים כְּתָבָא֙ עַ֣ל לְבַיְתֵ֔הּ וְכַוִּ֨ין פְּתִיחָ֥ן לֵהּ֙ בְּעִלִּיתֵ֔הּ נֶ֖גֶד יְרוּשְׁלֶ֑ם וְזִמְנִין֩ תְּלָתָ֨ה בְיוֹמָ֜א ה֣וּא ׀ בָּרֵ֣ךְ עַל־ בִּרְכ֗וֹהִי וּמְצַלֵּ֤א וּמוֹדֵא֙ קֳדָ֣ם אֱלָהֵ֔הּ כָּל־ קֳבֵל֙ דִּֽי־ הֲוָ֣א עָבֵ֔ד מִן־ קַדְמַ֖ת דְּנָֽה׃

BAN ¹² Puis ils s'approchèrent du roi et lui parlèrent au sujet de la défense royale, disant : N'as-tu pas fait enregistrer une défense portant que quiconque pendant trente jours adressera une requête à quelque dieu ou homme, si ce n'est à toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions ? Le roi répondit et dit : Certainement, et cela selon la loi du Mède et du Perse qui est irrévocable.

KJV ¹² Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

WLC ¹² אֱ֠דַיִן גֻּבְרַיָּ֤א אִלֵּךְ֙ הַרְגִּ֔שׁוּ וְהַשְׁכַּ֖חוּ לְדָנִיֵּ֑אל בָּעֵ֥א וּמִתְחַנַּ֖ן קֳדָ֥ם אֱלָהֵֽהּ׃

BAN ¹³ Alors ils reprirent et dirent au roi : Daniel, qui est l'un des captifs de Juda, n'a point eu égard à toi, ô roi, ni à la défense que tu as fait enregistrer, mais trois fois le jour il fait sa prière.

KJV ¹³ Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

WLC ¹³ בֵּ֠אדַיִן קְרִ֨יבוּ וְאָמְרִ֥ין קֳדָם־ מַלְכָּא֮ עַל־ אֱסָ֣ר מַלְכָּא֒ הֲלָ֧א אֱסָ֣ר רְשַׁ֗מְתָּ דִּ֣י כָל־ אֱנָ֡שׁ דִּֽי־ יִבְעֵה֩ מִן־ כָּל־ אֱלָ֨הּ וֶֽאֱנָ֜שׁ עַד־ יוֹמִ֣ין תְּלָתִ֗ין לָהֵן֙ מִנָּ֣ךְ מַלְכָּ֔א יִתְרְמֵ֕א לְג֖וֹב אַרְיָותָ֑א עָנֵ֨ה מַלְכָּ֜א וְאָמַ֗ר יַצִּיבָ֧א מִלְּתָ֛א כְּדָת־ מָדַ֥י וּפָרַ֖ס דִּי־ לָ֥א תֶעְדֵּֽא׃

BAN ¹⁴ Le roi, ayant entendu la chose, en eut un grand déplaisir, et il prit à coeur de délivrer Daniel ; et jusqu'au coucher du soleil, il s'efforça de le sauver.

KJV ¹⁴ Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

WLC ¹⁴ בֵּ֠אדַיִן עֲנ֣וֹ וְאָמְרִין֮ קֳדָ֣ם מַלְכָּא֒ דִּ֣י דָנִיֵּ֡אל דִּי֩ מִן־ בְּנֵ֨י גָלוּתָ֜א דִּ֣י יְה֗וּד לָא־ שָׂ֨ם מַלְכָּא֙ טְעֵ֔ם וְעַל־ אֱסָרָ֖א דִּ֣י רְשַׁ֑מְתָּ וְזִמְנִ֤ין תְּלָתָה֙ בְּיוֹמָ֔א בָּעֵ֖א בָּעוּתֵֽהּ׃

BAN ¹⁵ Mais ces hommes accoururent à grand bruit vers le roi et lui dirent : Sache, ô roi, que c'est la loi du Mède et du Perse qu'à toute défense et tout décret rendu par le roi, il ne peut être dérogé.

KJV ¹⁵ Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
