BCC ¹⁰ Lorsque Daniel eut appris que le décret était écrit, il entra dans sa maison, qui avait, dans la chambre hante, des fenêtres ouvertes du côté de Jérusalem. Trois fois par jour il se mettait à genoux, il priait et louait Dieu, comme il le faisait auparavant.

KJV ¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

BCC ¹² Alors ils s'approchèrent du roi et lui parlèrent au sujet de la défense royale : « N'as-tu pas écrit une défense portant que quiconque, pendant trente jours, prierait quelque dieu ou homme, si ce n'est toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions ? « Le roi répondit et dit : « La chose est certaine, d'après la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est irrévocable. »

KJV ¹² Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

BCC ¹³ Alors ils reprirent et dirent devant le roi : « Daniel, l'un des captifs de Juda, n'a pas eu égard à toi, ô roi, ni à la défense que tu as écrite ; mais trois fois le jour il fait sa prière. »

KJV ¹³ Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

VULC ¹³ Tunc respondentes dixerunt coram rege : Daniel de filiis captivitatis Juda, non curavit de lege tua, et de edicto quod constituisti : sed tribus temporibus per diem orat obsecratione sua.

BCC ¹⁴ Le roi, entendant ces paroles, en eut un grand déplaisir ; quant à Daniel, il prit à coeur de le délivrer, et jusqu'au coucher du soleil il essaya de le sauver.

KJV ¹⁴ Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

VULC ¹⁴ Quod verbum cum audisset rex, satis contristatus est : et pro Daniele posuit cor ut liberaret eum, et usque ad occasum solis laborabat ut erueret illum.

BCC ¹⁵ Alors ces hommes vinrent à grand bruit vers le roi, et ils dirent au roi : « Sache, ô roi, que c'est la loi des Mèdes et des Perses qu'on ne peut déroger à toute défense et tout décret rendu par le roi. »

KJV ¹⁵ Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
