¹ Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant : ² "Parle aux enfants d'Israël ; qu'ils changent de direction et qu'ils viennent camper devant Phihahiroth, entre Magdalum et la mer, vis-à-vis de Beelséphon ; vous camperez en face de ce lieu, près de la mer. ³ Pharaon dira des enfants d'Israël : Ils sont égarés dans le pays ; le désert les tient enfermés. ⁴ Et j'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon, et il les poursuivra ; je ferai éclater ma gloire dans Pharaon et dans toute son armée, et les Égyptiens sauront que je suis Yahweh." Et les enfants d'Israël firent ainsi. ⁵ On annonça au roi d'Égypte que le peuple avait pris la fuite. Alors le coeur de Pharaon et celui de ses serviteurs furent changés à l'égard du peuple ; ils dirent : "Qu'avons-nous fait de laisser aller Israël et de nous priver de ses services ?" ⁶ Et Pharaon fit atteler son char, et il prit son peuple avec lui. ⁷ Il prit six cents chars d'élite, et tous les chars de l'Égypte, et sur tous, il y avait des chefs. ⁸ Yahweh endurcit le coeur de Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et Pharaon poursuivit les enfants d'Israël ; et les enfants d'Israël étaient sortis par une main élevée. ⁹ Les Égyptiens les poursuivirent donc et les atteignirent comme ils étaient campés près de la mer ; tous les chevaux des chars de Pharaon, ses cavaliers et son armée les atteignirent près de Phihahiroth, vis-à-vis de Beelsephon.

   ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ² Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. ³ For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so. ⁵ And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? ⁶ And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: ⁷ And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. ⁹ But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

   ¹ Et l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant : ² Parle aux enfants d'Israël ; [et leur dis], qu'ils se détournent, et qu'ils se campent devant Pi-Hahiroth, entre Migdol et la mer, vis-à-vis de Bahal-Tsépnon ; vous camperez vis-à-vis de ce [lieu-là] près de la mer. ³ Alors Pharaon dira des enfants d'Israël : ils sont embarrassés dans le pays, le désert les a enfermés. ⁴ Et j'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon, et il vous poursuivra ; ainsi je serai glorifié en Pharaon, et en toute son armée, et les Egyptiens sauront que je suis l'Eternel ; et ils firent ainsi. ⁵ Or on avait rapporté au Roi d'Egypte que le peuple s'enfuyait, et le coeur de Pharaon et de ses serviteurs fut changé à l'égard du peuple, et ils dirent : qu'[est-ce que] nous avons fait, que nous ayons laissé aller Israël, en sorte qu'il ne nous servira plus ? ⁶ Alors il fit atteler son chariot, et il prit son peuple avec soi. ⁷ Il prit donc six cents chariots d'élite, et tous les chariots d'Egypte ; et il y avait des Capitaines sur tout cela. ⁸ Et l'Eternel endurcit le coeur de Pharaon Roi d'Egypte, qui poursuivit les enfants d'Israël. Or les enfants d'Israël étaient sortis à main levée. ⁹ Les Egyptiens donc les poursuivirent ; et tous les chevaux des chariots de Pharaon, ses gens de cheval, et son armée les atteignirent comme ils étaient campés près de la mer, vers Pi-Hahiroth vis-à-vis de Bahal-Tséphon.
